  • what method did you use to transfer this film to digital? what equipment?

  • @Steph6n I use a WorkPrinter from MovieStuff, and capture into Final Cut Pro where I then apply re-timing and color restoration.

  • @lunarparcel thanks!! Man those are cool units. Expensive venture. I'd love to own one though, my dad has a box full of 8mm that we recently dug up and played on an old projector I got for free. I'm glad I asked though, it's a good website with lots of info on the types of machines out there. Do you use yours for business, transferring other people's footage or just for personal?

  • @Steph6n I initially set it up for business purposes, but life got in the way over the last couple of years and I haven't been able to use it as much as I had hoped. I am hoping to get it going again in the next year and putting it to good use.

  • Look - No Traffic!!!!

  • @clarkewi Yeah, kind of surreal to see it that way.

  • Lets hope the happy couple bought some Bay Area real estate while they were on vacation, back then.

    .

Isn't this music a bit young for this video era?

    Just wondering.

    Thanks for posting.

    .

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @FriendLondonFriend Well, yeah....actually the music itself does indeed evoke thoughts about an era that is somewhat later then the timeframe depicted in the video. I just selected it mostly due to its feel for a light afternoon drive.

  • @jjgriffinjr, I believe thats an area no longer there just north of Santa Rosa Ca. called Larkfield on the old Redwood Hwy. Not absolutely sure though.

  • who would dislike this video? great video . Thanks.

  • thanks for sharing, interesting.

  • I was curious, where were the palm trees ?

  • @jjgriffinjr I've never been able to determine where that clip was shot. In the clips prior on that reel, the footage comes down from Leggett, CA followed by a few moments of young vineyards, maybe the Sonoma County region. The piece from the palm trees appears to have prune trees in the background, a predominant factor of the Sonoma area back then. the reel sequence suggests the palm trees clip is from the Sonoma or Marin area, likely an old stretch of Redwood Highway segment of US 101.

  • i noticed missing were bikers and pedestrians along the walkway. how times change.

  • Very nice.

Thank you for sharing this. It is certainly a very interesting perspective from that time.

  • Thanks. I'm glad you dug it.

  • San Francisco and the nation as a whole was not as crowded as now.

  • And I am pretty sure there was also a vastly lower car-to-person ratio.

  • Very nice .Thanks !

  • Thanks Jon, I love this clip. I've got 8mm film of San Francisco in 1969 - 70 that I should have transferred. We drove down Lombard and my wife shot it. Nice job! 5 Stars!

  • very nice. (and I like the music)

  • no music!

  • Sorry, but I fail to grasp the intent of that message. Do you mean you wish music had not been added to the clip, or are you unable to hear the music that accompanies the clip? If it is the former.....oh well, sorry. If is the latter, check your browser settings and ensure your flash player is up to date. Thanks. -Jon
