@billybobrustupid bullshit. The allies had plenty of troops every bit as good as the best the Germans had. The Aussies, Canadians, Gurkhas, US Paratroopers, Russian Siberians. The list goes on and on. We were the superior to the Germans in terms of technology, fighting skill and the rightness of our cause. Check the history books. You'll see that I am correct.
btw in the movie are the aussies expecting a jap attack? I haven't seen it yet, but they wouldn't just be sittin on the line with gun's raised the whole night?
I do hope the Japanese will one day educate their ppl the same way the germans do. @IDGeneratorS they are the elite! A ragtag group of drifters deserters and leftover remnants of a defeated army fighting a desperate battle they cannot possibly win
@landocalrision lets see how long you would last on the Kokoda track fighting an enemy that outnumbered you 10-1 with little rations, minimal ammo and weponary, fighting a well trained army of Japanese.
i would hate to think that those "ragtag group of drifters and deserters" with give an ounce of their blood shed for your demonic portrayal of a brave group of fighters that fought in unforgiving terrain so people like you could live in a time of peace
@IDGeneratorS silly! we're on the same side.My friends father was in the 39th Battalion I meant that they had no training no help no hope yet he still survived. And i am still alive after my own childhood Kokokda. The heros of this world are often a rag tag group that stand their ground. Those guys were militia.Thats pretty "ragtag' to put up against battle hardened Japanese with modern jungle fighting weapons.Read other comments. Every body is pretty sensible.Chill Peace
You people attacking each other and that only demeans and insult to the men who died in this conflict. please have some respect for Americans, Canadians, British and Australians who died in this war and you guys arguing who's better? We worked together to defeat Both Germany and japan together so please have some respect.
O.M.G we have to watch this movie at School its was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo scary i didn't watch its instead my teacher let me watch bBrand New Day
@happygamestvfun1 No, they didn't, but if they got a chance they might eat one! The "Fuzzy-Wuzzy Angels" carried in ammunition and supplies, and carried out the wounded. The care these men showed for our wounded was remarkable, If they were short of water, it went to the wounded man they were carrying and they went without, same with food. If they stopped on the track at night and only had one blanket, it went to the wounded man. No known live casualty was abandoned.
i just walked the track roughly 2 weeks ago and it was bloody tought to say the least. I would advise any australian who has ever thought of testing there character and endeavour please go walk the track. It will open your eyes to the ultimate sacrifice made by these young lads some of which to this day lay Bomana War Cemetery with out even a name to match their grave. These boys gave there all to protect their families and there country. "lest we forget"
thanks mate our Military is always standing by your nation just like we have done for eachother in every conflict, i am going to sign up soon hopefully going into infantry as a standard rifleman but i need to get taller as im only 155cm and 16 haha, god bless US aswell.
We should all be acting like brothers and not fighting over who contributed more to the war effort. We are allies!!! WE FOUGHT FOR THE SAME DAMN REASON! To make sure the Japanese did not invade our countries or our friends. The Japanese need to be forgiven because that is the righteous thing to do.
agreed. I showed my japanese father in law this movie. turns out he had 3 uncles fight and die. guess what just kids doing what they were told. war is started by governments and leaders carried out by young men. its shit but it happens. why i dont know but thats history i guess. repect to all who died and faught to keep australia safe
@KG84C for fuck sake really!? i remeber a few years back the night before ANZAC day the memorial in ANZAC square in brisbane was vandalised i was so fucking angry if i caught them i would beat the living shit out of them
@KG84C and its bullshit because they will probably get a $200 fine or somthing ridiculous, i bet its some sinny little wanker trying to be a tough guy when really he's just a drop shit piece of shit who will end up on benefits for the rest of his life, people liek that should b kicked out of the country
I dont care who contributed the most just if its accurate. The first statement of the movie. They mention the American were too busy to help them. But thats exactly what the Americans were doing. They were busy securing and protecting Guadalcanal to keep the Japanese from being able to attack New Zealand.Maybe the director should do better research the next movie
"Give me the leadership of the British, the ingenuity of the Americans, and the fighting spirit and ability of the Canadians and Australians and I will give you the World."
A little known fact is under Australian legislation at the time, Militia could not be sent overseas to fight and were for home defence only. The govt found a loophole as PNG was then classed as a territory of Australia (PNG became independent in 1975) so kind of home turf. The regular army was in North Africa, so there's no way they could've recruited and trained more soldiers in time to fight the japs. Unlucky for the poorly trained militia but lucky for Aust the govt found that loophole.

i have walked on Imata ridge the place this battle was based, met some of the fuzzy wuzzy carriers. Really awesome experience walking the kokoda trail last yearn hope to it again in the future
these doods saved so many american sailors lives!!! the ships that would of come under attack had japan gained bases close enough to target the supply line between america and australia ........
the absolute resiliance of the Australian soldiers in Kokoda was amazing. Honestly, to have men suffering from desease, with three months training fighting elite Japanese soldiers (below comment) without giving up is just remarkable. The strength these poor young men had was FRIGGIN AWESOME.
the ratio of japanese to aussies where 1 : 3 and the diggers only had 3 months training while the japanese where elite soldiers, the reason why kokoda was a succses was because of military tactics and the persavernce of the australians and help from the americans as well
After a century of war and conflict. It cuts me to see Americans, Australians, English, Canadians, New Zealanders, etc. arguing about who contributed more to the wars. We all did what we could and shed blood on the same field for the same cause. You think our parents/grandparents were sitting in trenches, ready to charge into gunfire for the freedom that we enjoy today so cunts could argue about who's country is more useless?
Except Kokoda was a feat of brilliance in both courage and military tact for the men and officers on the field of the Australian AIF and more notably the 39th Militia.
New Guinea was nothing less than an utter display of exceptional Australian determination and toughness.
This movie I feel failed to highlight such feats, considering the conflict in Kokoda and New Guinea was resolved with the Australians being the victors after Buna and Gona fell.
@rothwellullathorne it doesn't matter who did what, all it matters is that we beat the nations who have commited satanic crimes against humanity and yet to see one of the same tyranical nations who got the shit kicked out of them go into economical collapse today
@rothwellullathorne I hear that man . I'm Canadian . Its just the same . Canadians fought in Hong Kong the same way Autrailians fought in New Guinea the same way Americans fought in Iwo Jima the same way British fought in Malaysia and Singapore . We're all the same and one couldnt have been successful without the other .
@scottweise18 Thats true I am an Aussie who has worked in Hong Kong and what the Canadians did there to stall the Japs to allow at least some people to evacuate was just heroic.
@scottweise18 We all could have done without the brit's. They sent countless canadian's and australian's to the most dangeours battleground's of all whole war. Australian's and Candian's undertock the battles with the highest mortality rate (65% at galipoli) and lowest chance of success. All for the good of the 'commonwealth. Its disgusting. When the jap's invaded australia do you think the brits sent aid. NO fucking WAY. Fuck the uk and the royal family from a soon to be republic, Australia!!
@joeynator99 Yeah, they did send Aussies and Canadians to dangerous battlegrounds and they sent their own lads to serve along side them, and die beside them. British lads died with Canadian lads in Normandy. British lads died with Australian lads at Gallipoli (the majority of casualites were British). When you come out with a statement like you did you only display your own ignorance.
Try reading books instead of watching films like Gallipoli and you'll have a better understanding.
@rothwellullathorne maybe not, but I'm sure it featured in some of the discussions in those trenches. Who's not lifting their weight would have been as much as subject of discussion then as it is today.
@rothwellullathorne It's mostly because the Americans think that they won the war and every war that they've been in. They are just as arrogant now as they were when they came to Australia in the 1940's as soldiers.
Yeah there is a lot of drama surrounding this issue.
I'm a strong believer that the participants in the war did what they could. The US has a greater presence in terms of military power, but that does not mean that the rest of us made a half-assed effort. In London, it rained bombs. France was overrun. Poland was crushed. Still, those countries did what they could and the best they could. In my book, that is no less admirable than America's contribution.
@rothwellullathorne well said mate, it's frustrating when a friend of mine (pro-nazi) says that the Germans fought better than anyone else, he bags the American Army a crapload (I'm Australian). I've been questioning which side performed or contributed more, and I've even started look at history book author's credentials seeing their nationality (if they get kinda big-headed?; I look to see if they are from the nation they are accentuating). This is the point I've been trying to get to him :(.
@HoZzIe27 Well the germans had the most well equipped and well lead army in the 20th century. The british had the greatest air force and special elite forces (commondos & SAS). The australians and new zealanders had crack soldiers and the americans had the manpower
1. @rothwellullathorne I hate to tell you this, but you're wrong. Sure there was alot of camaraderie between soldiers fighting on the same side (esp.since they shared a common language and a somewhat common culture) but there were also rivalries. And soldiers are supposed to fight for their country and people, which includes past, present and future generations. If those generations argue, it may irrevenrent but they have earned this right through the soldiers sacrifices. I hate this type of logic..
2. @rothwellullathorne ...where people think the soldiers are in a some type of unviolable bubble. They always are instrumental in fulfilling some really shady objective for the high placed rulers, regardless of the "morality" and righteousness they may think they represent.
lol! the small size. no fat, and AK 47 made them faster, agile, and more powerful than the big, muscular, partially fat guy with an M 16. They couldn't even fit through the hole entrances to tunnel networks the VC made
Australia essentially destroyed the Viet Cong in the province which was under their control. They weren't much of an issue towards the end of the war. The only reason Australia pulled out was lack of support back home, the Australian SASR were feared amongst the Vietcong and NVA as "Phantoms of the Jungle".
easy the only reason ur country came to be was by stabbing england in the back after they defended you from the french in the 7 years war, Britain bank rupt from DEFENDING U, asked for a little in return so taxed u so very little so they could make some money back, the actual people in london were payin 50 times the amount of tax the yanks were paying, nd u yanks acted like the brits fukn treated u like shit, ur independence day sickens me, u celebrate the day u stabbed Britain in the back,
This has nothing to do with the UK. The Scots are nice people. I guess you are refering to the Special Relationship between England and the US. Obama confirmed the Special Relationship. However, other countries like Canada and India are trying to also form a relationship with the United States. In the future, England may have to beg for favors. After all, the US has to look after its image. The US doesn't want to be seen with arrogant types.
Canada is trying to form a relationship with the U.S.? Who is and will always be your largest trading partner? we are. Who's your largest supplier of oil? we are. Who is the first to help when you need it? We are. Just because we won't follow some half retarded texan into iraq doesn't mean we don't like you, it just means we'd rather be doing something more productive in the world. Oh and who's cleaning up your mess in Afghanistan? We are. Trying to form a relationship... bwahahahaa..
DaShnipa. I pointed this out. Every country has a relationship with the United States, even Germany and Japan. I was refering to a "special relationship". England has always mentioned the "Special Relationship" to refer to the unique bonding between the United States and England. I tried to say that other countries also desire a similar relationship. Trading relationships are another thing. China is Japan's largest trading part. It doesn't mean they have a special relationship.
lol special relationship with the U.K.? Lol were a commonwealth country. I'd stand corrected if you can prove that any relationship with any country is as different than the next.
DaShnipa. The English are always banging on about the "Special Relationship". Obama also mentioned it about 12 times when he met with the English. I think in reality the English and the Americans both treat Canada as a little child. Am I correct in this thinking?
you keep telling yourself that. lol I love it when people talk shit when they have no god damn clue as to what they're talking about. Sure they'd run us over, but considering most Canadians are taught to shoot at a very young age the yanks would take such heavy losses through the following years, that attacking us would be 100% pointless. They'd gain nothing but a whole bunch of filled body bags.
the only way would be if the aussies came and helped yas
canadians are to americanised now and are soft weasel little fucks that cry for there mummy when they get punched in the face.
aussies are naturally hardened people all the hard ship we went though all those years we where a convict colony we have become an extremely hard race.
i'll give ya that canadians had it hard in the wars but just remember the aussies where shock troops too and had the worst battle in ww1 which is fromelle
The day any Canadian needs any aussie for anything would be a sad day in the world. Hardened people? The convict aspect really has nothing to do with it, as people slowly immigrated just the same as Canada. So you deal with heat? Do you know what - 50c feels like? Fromelle was a childs playground compared to Vimy, or the Somme, how about Paaschendaele should I continue? I have nothing but the utmost respect for australian soldiers, but you sir are an ass.
We don't believe that at all. We participated and contributed and did our fair share. Rarely gave ground, and fought tooth and nail for anything gained. Our troops did what no one else could. Take and hold ground. The german's themselves called us "storm troopers" Ya we've fought beside the aussies, such is the case when we are, or were commonwealth countries. We also fought with the brits, american's, indians, NZ's, you name it, we've fought with them.
the aussies where the first storm troops though thats why gallipoli was such a disaster for us because the poms would send us in before they would go in themselves.
you need to show the aussies a little more respect mate sure you fought in vimy but you didnt fight in gallipoli or beersheba or fromelles and thats where the real shock troopers where in fromelles we had to charge of the boats straight into an artillery barrage.
You distinctly said we'd need aussies to do anything, we don't need you for anything. Go back to your damn island, and do what you do, as you aren't needed on this side of the planet.
What on gods earth do we "need" from australia? There is nothing you can produce or grow that we cant either get from the U.S. or make/grow ourselves.
BULLETS or 40MM grenades. I know exactly what metal storm is. Regardless as to whatever you may have read 40mm grenades CANNOT take out a tank. A mobility kill if god intervenes. Blow a nuke out of the sky, it has the ability to launch stuff into orbit? I didn't think so either. By the time a nuke enters the atmosphere it has already deployed and has warheads flying all over the place. Metal storm or even jesus himself can't stop that.
your an idiot if you dont think its that advanced
america and china are both begging for it
its much better then anything america or china has
type metal storm ionto youtube and see
and the 40mm grenades go into the gattling gun that fires the 1 million bullets and can level multiple buildings in a second and can take out a take dont think i 40mm grenade think like 200.000 coming straight at a group of tanks
I dont care if you launch 1000000000000 grenades at an MBT it isn't going to destroy it. You've played far to many video games friend. Reality is, a 40mm HE projectile will not under ANY circumstances destroy a modern MBT.
What the hell do I have to look at you half retarded convict? I know what metal storm is. I know what it does and what it's capable of. It CANNOT shoot down nukes, its a case-less munitions delivery system. The only thing capable of destroying nukes are missiles, and the other guy with his finger on the button. Jesus get a grip kid!! it's far from the end all weapons system, australia is no wheres near the top of the arms game SO GIVE UP!! Pride in country is fine but god damn your stupid.
I have called you wrong on every corner. You have no knowledge of weaponry or its application. The american's have developed and are testing a rail gun, a weapon that with 1 shot can sink a Heavy Cruiser. Metal storm at this point in time has no application and no use for anyone but farmers trying to keep dingo's and kids like you away from their sheep. Give up please!! Before I'm forced to make you look even more retarded.
a railgun has so much recoil that it would have to be mounted onto a platform to be used.
you clearly have no idea do you and you have in no way proved me wrong child your the one thats said nothing but bullshit the whole time you've been in here
and you got australia mixed up with new zealand you retard we have the dingoes but its the kiwis and canadians that have to keep there kids away from the sheep.
when the french settled into canada they gross bred with the english settlers and sinse we all know the french fuck there own family members your an inbred retarded idiotic kid.
the laser gun is a star wars science fiction jabbo
i seriously doubt they will ever get a laser that can fire i mean shit look at how much power a laser light pulls and her you are expecting a full on laser to be able to be fired from an assault rifle ?
i think bullets will always be the in thing for obvious reasons
Uhh it exists. However due to power needs, and size constraints its impractical, much like the rail gun, however they do exist which proves my point that metal storm (case-less munitions system) isn't even close to the forefront of weaponry. Hell the germans had the same idea in a rifle (HK G11) built and tested almost 20 years ago. Albeit different but still the same concept. Fuck star wars.

Couldn't agree more. Every country did their part. Every nation had its victories and defeats. Let's just leave it at that.
piggydc 2 years ago 26
@piggydc
That is something I'd rather see.
DivineHardOn 2 years ago 3
Very true. All countries were good at their own thing. Australia like to sit in trenches and pick them off for example xD

gnarkillkicksass 1 year ago
@scottweise18 We all could have done without the brit's. They sent countless canadian's and australian's to the most dangeours battleground's of all whole war. Australian's and Candian's undertock the battles with the highest mortality rate (65% at galipoli) and lowest chance of success. All for the good of the 'commonwealth. Its disgusting. When the jap's invaded australia do you think the brits sent aid. NO fucking WAY. Fuck the uk and the royal family from a soon to be republic, Australia!!
joeynator99 2 weeks ago
@joeynator99 Yeah, they did send Aussies and Canadians to dangerous battlegrounds and they sent their own lads to serve along side them, and die beside them. British lads died with Canadian lads in Normandy. British lads died with Australian lads at Gallipoli (the majority of casualites were British). When you come out with a statement like you did you only display your own ignorance.
Try reading books instead of watching films like Gallipoli and you'll have a better understanding.

DeutschAustralischen 1 year ago
@DeutschAustralischen
In my book, that is no less admirable than America's contribution.
rothwellullathorne 1 year ago
@rothwellullathorne well said mate, it's frustrating when a friend of mine (pro-nazi) says that the Germans fought better than anyone else, he bags the American Army a crapload (I'm Australian). I've been questioning which side performed or contributed more, and I've even started look at history book author's credentials seeing their nationality (if they get kinda big-headed?; I look to see if they are from the nation they are accentuating). This is the point I've been trying to get to him :(.
HoZzIe27 1 year ago
@HoZzIe27 Well the germans had the most well equipped and well lead army in the 20th century. The british had the greatest air force and special elite forces (commondos & SAS). The australians and new zealanders had crack soldiers and the americans had the manpower
MrMaffew87 1 year ago

Australia essentially destroyed the Viet Cong in the province which was under their control. They weren't much of an issue towards the end of the war. The only reason Australia pulled out was lack of support back home, the Australian SASR were feared amongst the Vietcong and NVA as "Phantoms of the Jungle".

EasyCompanyAirborne 2 years ago
Canada is trying to form a relationship with the U.S.? Who is and will always be your largest trading partner? we are. Who's your largest supplier of oil? we are. Who is the first to help when you need it? We are. Just because we won't follow some half retarded texan into iraq doesn't mean we don't like you, it just means we'd rather be doing something more productive in the world. Oh and who's cleaning up your mess in Afghanistan? We are. Trying to form a relationship... bwahahahaa..
DaShnipa 2 years ago
EasyCompanyAirborne 2 years ago
lol special relationship with the U.K.? Lol were a commonwealth country. I'd stand corrected if you can prove that any relationship with any country is as different than the next.
DaShnipa 2 years ago
DaShnipa. The English are always banging on about the "Special Relationship". Obama also mentioned it about 12 times when he met with the English. I think in reality the English and the Americans both treat Canada as a little child. Am I correct in this thinking?

We don't believe that at all. We participated and contributed and did our fair share. Rarely gave ground, and fought tooth and nail for anything gained. Our troops did what no one else could. Take and hold ground. The german's themselves called us "storm troopers" Ya we've fought beside the aussies, such is the case when we are, or were commonwealth countries. We also fought with the brits, american's, indians, NZ's, you name it, we've fought with them.

Uhh it exists. However due to power needs, and size constraints its impractical, much like the rail gun, however they do exist which proves my point that metal storm (case-less munitions system) isn't even close to the forefront of weaponry.
