so much has been said already. most of the people's comment here are purely "barking at the wrong tree". maybe it wud hav been wiser that guys shud hav double checked info first before u hav commented on the sangyaw-pintados controversy. its over and done guys. i just say, watch for next year's scenario.its more grand and festive.

more and more activities have been organized because the foundation would like to touch the hearts of all the youths - not just the street children but even for in-school youth.

it so sad therefore that a political gem would just shrink down the foundation's dreams towards the cultural upliftment and its dreams to support the needs not just with these street childen but for the benefit as well of all the youths of Tacloban and eastern visayas as a whole.

pintados has all started:

early in the 80's Mr. Gaisano has suggested to a professor in DWU to have tacloban a Festival while he will be the one to sponsor the prizes. and with the effort of some students with business family background and some other volunteers they have founded a foundation that would help reach out poor street children as their benefeciaries. over years it has been realized.

assumption to the seat of the prov'l gov't., she added a name now we called 'Kasadya-an' festival of festivals to the fact that Pintados is only for Tacloban's festivity.

and because of political rivalry, (between romualdez and petilla) we have a separate festivals now we have -sangyaw over kasadya-an on the contrary, sangyaw has been celebrated way back in marcos' time in the 70's.

bypassed the foundation in the festival's activity, and yes, they just include the name of the foundation's logo painted in the wall of the rtr plaza's stage, but pintados (the foundation) doesn't have any participation at all (rather than the usual activities). in fact, when petilla's (Matin)

i agree, i once served as an intern at the Pintados Foundation. I learned from "mommy" (Mrs Evelina Acebedo, the foundress of the festival) that they (Provincial Gov't.)

No more Pintados as of this year. That has been the plan since Maten/ToTo Cinco started the Kasadyaan festival. It was to take over pintados festival and the revenue/money generated by the rentals at the plaza. Now Pintados Foundation only has the Miss Pintados to help generate funds for the homeless children they help all year round. And even that is slowly being overmanaged by the Provincial Gov't. Matakaw talaga mga politico. Dami na pera pero hindi pa kuntinto.
