  • A very good cover version,nicely done !

  • Toujours les tripes autant remués !! Cette chanson est tout simplement sublime..Merci à toi Ian.....Je n'ai jamais céssé et ne cesserai jamais de l'écouter.........

  • It's incredible what she's doing with the bass keys on the piano ...

  • Nerina is heaven sent. All that she give to us are from above.

  • So chilling, spine curling, blood cooling.

  • she is just so amazingly beautiful xxxx

  • Yes yes yes! This is how covers should be, stripped down to the essence of the original and given a different voice. Beautiful!

  • I have to say your version is one of my Favs and one of the best I heard. I just saw Peter Hook and the Light last month with Moby covering it live and it rocked gonna post it to Peter

  • one of my favorites......with a beautiful memory to my love

  • Fantastic cover of one of the greatest, sad songs ever written. She really conveys the pain of the song well.

  • Fuck, Ian would be proud of this.

Such a powerful song, such wonderful and poignant lyrics.

Joy Division - more than a band!

  • ¡¡¡¡¡WTF!!!!!

  • she looks to dainty to have such a powerful voice ^_^

  • She is so pretty!!! so jealous. lol

  • HI guys!

Check out my channel for live performances of Nerina Pallot performing-

    -Put your hands up

    -Everybody goes to war

    -Turn me on again

    -Crazy in love

and some others of her support act JODIE MARIE and Narina having funny chats with the audience!!!!!!

  • i know joy division is the bomb and their song is the bomb but on this version the beginning sounds like pussy cat dolls i hate this part

just sayin, you can mix and mashem up

  • @dopewords no The Cure's cover is better in so many ways

  • She's absolutely beautiful!!

  • nouvel vague cover. if a covers need to be made. not this. sory love. dis..

  • No cover can ever mimic the emotion in Ian's voice when he sang this song. A good cover however.

  • This is a nice take on a classic song. Why are people complaining? I love how she finishes with "Love" at the end.

  • This sounds like music you hear in advertisements.

  • I just love it! simple

  • its a great version of the classic joy division song, ive heard worse much worse!!!!

  • I am in deep awe :)

  • I wouldn't say this is better than the original. However she does have a really unique voice, and pulls it off really well. Brings tears to my eyes.

  • I'm sceptical about covers of this song, but this really is a good version. And I did lights for Joy Division - once!

  • In my Stalinist youth, I used to think a cover would be blasphemous, then I heard the Swans version (special mention Susanna & the Magical Orchestra). Now pleased people are reclaiming/reinterpreting this beautiful, beautiful classic. Fine job here

  • wow

  • I think this is a good cover off Joy Diversion what Ian Curtis did was selfish..Had his cake but couldnt eat it...

  • @willow2704 Here if you're gonna have an opinion about the song at least have the correct name of the band.

  • this is a good dramatic cover of the original, Curtis was indeed a troubled soul, with his illness and love life in trouble, music is about interpritations of songs and what words mean. I am a Manc and remember Joy division RIP Ian curtis and well done Nerina Pallot

  • This is a fanatstic song, thank you Ian thank you Nerina my desert island disk for ever :-)

  • woooooooooooooooooooooow

  • Ian Curtis was a troubled soul and his life ended tragically. His songs and performances were intense and emotional. The Joy Division original is dark and brooding in a way that this is not. But I still like this cover, her performance does have a sincerity about it, and she isn't just going through the motions.

  • she looks a tad like jennifer love hewitt

  • Don't like it at all

  • Some songs should be just left alone. Non je ne regrette rien by Edith Piaf is another one that some Diva or other like to distroy every now and then.

  • This is beautiful. But Ian will always hold this crown.

  • jd's version is my fave song ever and i think this is definatly one of the best covers i've heard. love the piano and she's a great singer putting a new edge on the song

  • ew it sounds lovely. not supposed to sound like that.

  • Wonderful cover, can't really compare it to the original considering its personal nature, but saying that Mr Curtis isn't the only person to experience emotional pain. When its all said and done this lady has a very good voice, Ian Curtis had an average voice, but a great stage presence (I saw him - incredible) and a very good song writer. The variety of life eh.

  • this and bjork's cover are the only ones I've found, where the artists realise that this is not a happy love song.

But it seems no-one can inject the the same emotion into the vocals as Ian.

  • @Dextromethasone check out The Swans

  • I love haters on Youtube. You guys just HAVE to post a comment on how you dislike or hate something. Like it defines you or something.

  • Love will never tear us apart Nerina.

  • I love the version by kvinton as well [couldn't post link]

  • the people talking shit about this veriosn, are definitely NON MUSICIANS! this is beautiful!

  • @cesardarito I'm sure you haven't heard Joy division you fuck.

  • @kiokio21 I have you prick......get you head out of your ass first, then clean the shit out of your ears, then talk about music with me again, without Joy Division there wont be New order which is one of my favorites bands ever, then again, how come you´re so sure? are you a warlock or something? jeez....the people one have to stand on this planet!

  • Definately one of the best, if not 'the' best cover I've heard of this fab Joy Division song. The original simply cannot be beaten.

  • @clearviewmind

Check out Francis Dunnery's version . . it's THE BEST!! ( on his 'There's A Whole New World Out There ' CD)

     . . . Brilliant

  • @clearviewmind I think SWANS' version is one of the best.. but also like The Cure's and Squarepusher's versions.

  • @clearviewmind a good cover, but not the best. try susanna and the magical orchestra. that has to be my favourite #deep

  • @javethered Good one. I don't think it's as good as this one thou! Personal opintion. Where's the other girl from, Denmark?? I could hear straight away she wasn't English....

  • Best cover ever, maybe better the original.

    Awesome.

  • good song and well performed Tanya

  • same cover, with comments, so that you all understand what emotions this bring up

    watch?v=g_bjfCCXCQc

  • nice, but this will always be the best cover of this song

  • i usually dont applaud covers of this particular song, but the piano is what makes this cover. best emotional interpretation that i have heard so far.

  • Can you do me a favor? Just listen to it and please be quiet. Thank you all.

  • is an offense ... a commercial singer cover this song ... only to grow in the career ...

Ian Curtis was really suffering when he wrote this song ... shame shame ...

  • @davialbuquerque It was a b-side. You really think Nerina recorded a stripped down piano version and released it only as a b-side to further her career?

  • Super amazing voice that makes one happy .. It is class ..

  • Super fantastisk stemme som gør en glad..Det er klasse..

  • I love both versions. A cover is like paying homage to the original artist, she makes the song her own by using her stylings, while letting Ian's lyrics ring true.

  • Tremenda Version, Increible A Favoritos Para Escuchar Una Y Otra Vez !!!!!!

  • I've heard so many versions of this song but I've never heard this song sung by a woman. Different but beautiful. However, nothing beats the original song.

    R.I.P Ian Curtis.

  • *keen on all of them :)

  • ...estuve mirando varios covers de este tema, incluido el de the cure, todos me gustaron, pero este me erizó la piel...

i was looking plenty covers for this song, included the cure's one, i was keen on everyone though this gave me the chills...

  • It annoys me that there are no ugly female singers anymore.

  • God these lyrics cut so deep, I feel every ounce of pain beauity and truth in it

  • Marry me?

  • can i get this on itunes?

  • Incredibly beautiful! Great job!

  • this is the best cover !

  • absolutely amazing!!!!!!! a true tribute to joy division - beautiful vocals and intense piano - amazing!

  • i like it very much

  • nice cover.

  • i am actually really obsessed with this song right now. i adore it and her<3

  • harsh crule true an beautifull all at once.sure everyone fells like this at one time or another.nerina has done a fine job of bringing ians raw beauty to a new audience.gr8 job

  • harsh crule true an beautifull all at once.sure everyone fells like this at one time or another.nerina has done a fine job of bringing ians raw beauty to a new audience.gr8 job

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • i can relate to it so sad cuz its true :'(

  • q buena voz!!! una muy linda version

  • i think her voice overlayed on ian curtis's voice on the original song would make a good remix.

  • From which album is it?!

  • I can't believe I have only just found this.. stunning!

  • the most beautiful song ever written...............

  • This is a lovely cover.

  • Whoe are you? amazing...

  • amazing!

  • beautiful

  • @StokeCityMental Ian Curtis wrote this song about his troubled relationship with his wife and basically solidified his entire emotional state which ended in his suicide. and the name of this song was the only thing written on his gravestone. how can a cover be better?

  • @skippydeenice

Cause music doesn't need a story behind it to sound good?

  • @skippydeenice Agree, it dosent matter how good you sing, it just cant get better.

  • @skippydeenice I'm almost certain music has a lot to do with a subjective auditory perception, which your little write up seemed to miss. Quite simply, stokecitymental's perception of this cover and the original seems to favour this cover. That's how.

  • @skippydeenice

This is just a typical piano cover, and typical piano covers suck.. But this can't ''suck'' because after all, this is love will tear us apart.

  • @skippydeenice Totally agree, all of the angst and frustration with life all the suffering in the song and sadness has been sucked out by this awful cover, she sings every word with pleasure, he sang it with distaste because he new the meaning it was his feeling and this is some mooshy ballad.

  • @klaos9999:

You underestimate the power of her piano play which absolutely fits to the lyrics. Also recognize the change in the harmonies in "something so good just can't function no more" at the end of verse three. This cover is amazing and touching.

  • @skippydeenice because someone said so and that's all that opinion is :-)

  • @StokeCityMental

    you prick

  • sounds like 'Cat Power'...

    great!

  • so fuckin' amazing!

  • Worm Is Green has a female singer who does a decent rendition. I don't really care for the male covers of this song. And the only version done by Joy Division themselves I care for is the version where Ian really puts his emotion into it. Not the faster, more detached version. Overall, though, this song is just an emotional powerhouse that will never fade away. Because we won't let it. :)

  • what a fantastic artist, I would relish the oppertunity to see her live. Hopefully one day I will :)

  • @Alpha7Productions That is really harsh, don't you think. How do you think Ian would feel reading that you are comparing this cover to him killing himself. That isn't ever remotely funny. I am not a huge fan of this cover, but I don't think it deserves being compared to the tragedy of Ian killng himself.

  • @Alpha7Productions You inconsiderate little fuck. Would you shut the fuck up, you should be happy an artist is paying homage to a fantastic song and respecting it. Comparing this very different cover to Ian killing himself again. And you proclaim to be a real fan do you?

    Annoying cunt.

  • @Alpha7Productions

"Shame on any of these ignorant morons ripping off REAL art"

You're an idiot. This is a person giving her take on an amazing song. I bet Ian Curtis would probably feel pretty honoured that people still connect to his music and want to pay tribute to it. Yes, this is a TRIBUTE - it's not like she's sped it up and added a dance beat to it.

  • @Alpha7Productions What an insult to a man who was so talented and so tortured. Get some perspective. Ian Curtis' demons, I'm sure, were on a much grander scale than your pissy aggravation.

  • iCry.

  • hater no. 1 liebt joy division.. diesen song und nun auch sie

  • simply beautiful - and combines my favourites - (old) jersey and joy division

  • OhmiGod she's so soulful because she's a doey-eyed chick who looks slightly vulnerable and overdoes the vocal histrionics/aftergasp with a minimalist musical backdrop. Are they making these women in a factory somewhere?

  • Listen I think Ian would have appreciated the colors in her voice

  • cool, really.

  • Great, great, great cover version of a song that is for sure one of the most poignant love anthems ever written...

  • awsom !

  • she's quite similar to regina spektor

  • loving this version :)

  • ich liebe sie ! ;D

  • wow !

  • <3 !

  • Sigh.

    That's unfortunate.

  • @lolguymilne Joy Division=Original

  • Meadow Soprano?

  • This is actually a very well done cover

  • Great cover!

  • its cute.... too cute. not meant for her.

  • This and the version by Heavens are my favorite covers of it.

  • @lolguymilne No this is not the original one. The original is by the british post punk band Joy Division

  • so emotionnal, the best over i know...

  • wow, nice cover

  • reminds me a bit of fiona apple

  • This is so gorgeous.

  • magnifique...merci beaucoup pour ce bel hommage Nerina

  • Nice but my favorite cover is the swans's version. The oboe vocal version.

    A pure one.

  • Of course Joy Division's version is classic, but Nerina Pallot really nails this!

  • where can i download this?

  • Curtis Spirit!

  • Curtis Spirit!

  • Nice!

  • i wanted so much to like this, but it really does belong to Ian Curtis & Bernard Sumner, yo Joy Division & New Order, no one else has done it justice.

  • best variant of this song ever heard.

    Really nice to listen.

  • @dvoalex Then you need to hear the version the band Heavens did. It's literally the best version I've ever heard, and that's saying alot.

  • very nice, particular voice , of course different interpretation from the others versions that anybody does...

    i like !!

  • Good, but her voice don't fits in there for me. I dunno but it missing something. To much trying and less heart

  • Even the comments page of such a magnificent cover is riddled with the snipes and broadsides from internet warriors. One day everyone will grow up and punch the walls until their hands bleed instead.

  • nice very nice

  • not sure about that.

  • this is better than the original in my opinion

  • very good, and i am a big joy division fan

  • original is always best, piano's a nice touch tho

  • The piano orchestration is excellent, but the singing is only average. Too bad. I would love to hear this redone with better vox.

  • Poor.

  • Lord Trouser is amazed an swept away by this version

  • this is great

  • pales in comparison to sussana's

  • Thanks robsage, I checked the Susanna version and had goosebumpbs in the first 30 secs. A little slow, bit very emotional.

In this one, the voice irritates me. Overcompressed? I'm hearing the swishy, breathiness too much. Distracting.

I love JD, but never did like this song!

  • Don't you have anything of worth to say? You're one poisonous old shit aren't you?

  • Fuck off you stupid fat spotty cunt

  • What's the matter? Don't like it when the game's turned around on you?

  • See - how pathetic are you? You talk of letting things drop when you have no intention. Is daddy not abusing you anymore? Grow up you worthless idiot
