  • Why won't everyone shut up at the beginning? Every phantom manor video i've seen is like this!

  • @pezlort Yeah, it's a European thing. Just like standing in the flowerbeds that are behind the fences and trample the flowers to watch the parade.

In the US or Japan this doesn't happen as often. Don't know why. I think Europeans are a bit more selfish. And yes, i can say that without being racist, because i'm European myself. :-p

  • Haha.. everytime someone passes you i say "CUTTERS!!!" Ha...haha....

  • The original Haunted Mansions in Disneyland and Disney World were created in part by legendary Disney Imagineer, Marc Davis. It's been said that he didn't like Phantom Manor as he found it to be too dark and disturbing for his taste. He was also upset that some of the Ghost Town scenes were ghoulish adaptations of his own designs of a Disney World attraction that was never built called "Western River Expedition". Marc didn't like it but I would love to see it in person one day. Great job!

  • @33Keith33 Well, i think Marc Davis made one mistake. It shouldn't be how Marc liked it, but how the European guests would like it. Seen from that point, they did a wonderful job.

  • Totally enjoyed this one when i went to disneyland paris. For those who asked about how the park would be on Holidays , I think that to have a nicer experience you may want to go on june so you get the cool weather and take advantage of the slow hours of the day (noon , extra magical ahours ect) to get access to the most crowded atractions or to repeat your favourites.

  • What time of the year is this? The park looks rather slow, and the weather looks perfect! A lot of people say that one should visit the park for the Holidays, but I'm sure it rains and snows a lot then, and it's busy right?

  • @Greenkai3000 This was in the first week of June. IIt was around dinnertime (8pm). Most of the guests were eating.

And besides that, PM almost never has a very long line, because they made the Doombuggies go faster a couple of years age, which increased the capacity a lot.

I don't know how busy it is for the holidays.

  • im america, my brother and me scream at the top of our lungs on purpose when you see the hanging corpse in the stretching room

  • The time keeper is a snowflake :) merry christmas everybody!!!

  • It's a little sad that I've been obsessed with this ride and the back story. I can't get enough! Now I just need to go to Paris and experience it myself.

  • @joemamma84 You're not the only one who's obsessed with PM. So it's certainly not obsessed.

Just be carefull not to have expectations that are to high by watching videos. Else it will dissapoint you when you go on the ride in real life. Even when the ride IS awesome.

  • Phantom Manor *.*

    Best Atraction Ever !

  • I went on here when I was 9! I was so scared, I tried to hide in the Doombuggy with my mum. Now that I'm 14, I'm gonna go on it again next year!

  • It's so beautiful...

  • What was that with the mirrors at the end?

  • @LEGOMaster56 What do you mean? You see something that isn't right?

  • @davey1986 In the Haunted Mansions there are hitchhiking ghosts. At the end of this there are some mirrors that you go by and they're just that, mirrors. Nothing special, at least that I can notice. It was at 12:43.

  • @LEGOMaster56 They're there. But not in between the people like in the Haunted Mansion. They're behind the doombuggies and you can see their green heads stiking out on top.

They're pretty visible to be fair...

  • @davey1986 Now I see them sorry.

  • @LEGOMaster56 No need to be sorry. :-)

  • Can anyone tell me the story of the Phantom Manor if there is one?

  • @SomethingRandom9B You can find it on WikiPedia.

  • @SomethingRandom9B

Basically, there's this bride who's happiness was ruined until her death by a man known as the Phantom, and she is now in the mansion with the Phantom in purgatory. In other words, a ghost was being a real big dick to a bride.

  • Huge thumbs up on the video quality!

  • Wow where's the line?

  • that was the best ride i've ever been!!! i love disneyland paris!!!

  • man.... i still remember the day i went to disneyland.... i was like 13 years old and when i heard that we were going to disneyland i was like: fuck yeah disney magic.. so first we went to the manor.. i still remember my bro saying is just 1 of those fanfare manor's... but this one man.... it was so amazing. i was so stunned what i saw even my bro could'nt speak. it was (kinda) scarry but beautyfull aswell thank you paris for making my kids AND adults dream to come true but thats another story
  • I just started watching the first couple of minutes of this, and immediatly fell in love! GREAT picture quality so far. I'm glad you're showing as many details as possible. I love the queue, it's so nicely done. I wish the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World was just as awesome as Phantom Manor. To those who think PM is too scary for kids, they have the option to NOT RIDE IT. After all it is a HAUNTED MANSION, not Pixie Hollow. Anyway, thanks for sharing this!

  • @Greenkai3000 Thank you for your comment.

So you like details, i guess. I have one amazing detail for you that only few know: the very first window you see at 2:43, has actually the words HELP ME! carved in it from the inside. As it is rather small, you really only can see it when you already know it's there. It's actually so small that it's difficult to capture it on photo or video. But it really is there, i saw it. I think if you search for a picture of it on internet, you should find it.

  • @davey1986 You know I didn't know about that! I'll check it out and try to see those words. You should do Tower of Terror next time you go to the parks

  • @davey1986 Awesome. I'll go look for that pic. There's a website dedicated to the Haunted Mansion made by Disney Fans called Doom Buggies or something like that. They might have that picture posted on there.

  • @Greenkai3000 Just found out i made a mistake. There's carved SOS from the inside, not HELP ME!

    Still an amazing detail, though!

  • @davey1986 Everyone could've done that.

  • @Ruttie2 Are you talking about the SOS thing?

If it was on the outside of the window, then everyone could have done that, indeed.

But it's written on the artificial dust that's on the inside of the window. That means it was put there by an Imagineer...

  • @davey1986 Yeah, then it does.

  • Honestly, thanks SO MUCH for not turning on the IR. I hate that.

  • Wonderful video. Pity about Leota though. I miss the original design they had for her back in the 90's. This new Leota projection reminds me of Julia Childs for some reason

  • i wish i could speak french :c

  • @tandem1963 i wish they had subtitles

  • I'm really disappointed in the Floridian version of the Haunted Mansion now. If it's one thing the people are understanding less and less, it's subtlety. In Paris they seem to have created beautiful details for people to spot instead of making annoying activities in a cue line for the people with low attention spans. I long to go to Paris now. This is officially the best.

  • @CottonCandyBoner the stuff in the cue line is mostley for little kids since they have no intrest whatsoever in detail.

  • why is it so deserted????

  • @DisneyHistoryProject Because it was around dinnertime. Most of the guests were eating.

And besides that, PM almost never has a very long line, because they made the Doombuggies go faster a couple of years age, which increased the capacity a lot.

You can see the original speed of the Doombuggies when i'm at the scene of the bride sitting in front of her boudoir (10:40). For some reason they slowed down the ride for a couple of seconds.

  • @davey1986 possibly to see the bride?

  • @AndrewMythdust No, they can't make only one part of the track go slower. All carriages (the whole track) were going slower at that moment. It was just coincidence i was at the bride.

  • Нагоя

  • can i ask which is your camera?

  • @heleninha1

    Sony HDR-XR350VE.

  • A very, very good video! This 'haunted mansion' is by far the best version! Not just saying it because I'm European, but it's way more dramatic and frightening than I'm used of Disney :)

  • It's a shame that everyone talks over the stretching room voice, it ruins the creepy atmosphere... This is an excellent video, you are great at filming! How do you keep the camera so still even when you are walking? I must admit, this version of the ride is more impressive than HM and I have probably ridden it more times than I have HM as well, but still nothing beats the original...

  • @perkyboy13 My camera has an insanely good Image Stabiliser. It detects if i'm walking or not, and as soon as i start walking it switches on the stabiliser by it's own. As you can see it works perfect. It also has an option called 'Low Lux' that i can switch on, which let you record brighter images in dark area's than 'normal' camera's would. That is why most of my darkride videos are much brighter and clearer than most other videos of them on YouTube.

  • Anyway, phantom manor is a great ride. but i still prefer the haunted mansion: is funny and scary at the same time. While phantom manor is scary and sad: probably too sad; but has a great soundtrack

  • @alantic1

I do agree. Haunted Mansion is more like funny and scary at the same time, and Phantom Manor is more scary and sad. But i don't agree it's TOO sad.

The imagineers didn't make PM this way because they just liked it. They looked at the differences of the mentality and culture between America and Europe.

They didn't only do this only for PM by the way, but for the whole park as well.

  • @davey1986 you're right. but i said TOO sad to make fun of french people(80% of french films are dramatic).

anyway did you notice that the singing busts in the middle (rollo rumkin and ned nub) have switched faces?

sorry for the bad english, i'm italian.

  • @alantic1 No, i didn't noticed, and i still don't. I know a lot about PM, but not every detail. ;-D

I didn't even know they had names. :-p

Even when i compare with other videos on YouTube (even two videos from four years ago) i can still see no difference, to be honest.

No need to be sorry for your English, too. Your English is fine.

I'm not English too, i'm Dutch.

  • Look at the singing busts!!rollo rumkin and ned nub(the busts in the middle) have switched faces!!! Why?!? (sorry for the bad english, i'm italian)

  • in response to ur comment on my channel. yea it really does hav a darker atmosphere. ive seen lots of PM vids (urs is the best so far) and u can really tell that the story is definitely more dense in this ride, than in the others, which doesnt allow much room for the dark humor included in the Hauntd Mansion. i remembr imagineers saying they felt like this one had to be more aesthetic too being in france or so its definitely more dramatic. plus the othr versions dont include skeletons or corpses

  • @canadianbaconbro ... the music, some of the scenes, and the exterior are more dramatic than the haunted manion versions. ours is mor of a tour of the house with a noticeable backstory. PM is more of a telling of a story, hence the deteriorating age of the bride and her demise. haunted mansion is my favorit ride and PM looks like an amazing ride too, and i wud want to visit disneyland paris just to go on it

  • They should get Christopher Lee to do the English narration for Phantom Manor!!!

  • @mic456789

There was an English narration back in the early days of EuroDisney. But because they got tons and tons of complaints from French visitors who couldn't understand a thing (Frenchmen don't speak English very well, in general) they changed it in a French narration. Which is kind of weird if you think of it, because Disneyland Paris attracts people from all over Europe, and English is sort of the main language of Europe.

  • @mic456789 Actually, they had an english narration way back when, as someone said, and it was done by none other than the great and talented Mr. Vincent Price, in his very last performance ever. Though sad that they removed the English track, Mr. Price's voice is however, not completely gone from the ride; the bone-chilling laughter from the Phantom you hear in several parts is what remains of Vincent's audio track.

  • C'est trop bien filmé !

    Quality is stronger ! Wahouuuu

  • Astounding quality! Excellent sound! Creepy phantoms! What more can you ask for? XD

  • Putain les guest peuvent pas fermer leur gueule dans la strech --' ?

  • @Toonsrct3

My French is not very good, but i think you say "why don't the guests shut up in the stretchroom"..?

This happens almost every time, it rarely happens that it is completly silent. I guess they are just to excited to go on the ride, and are not very interrested in the beautifull story of PM.

  • @davey1986 Oh sorry ! My english is bad too ^^ ! But i have understand your answer ^^ ! And i don't know you're an english ( Or American ) but I fully agree with you ! Every time i'm in Phantom Manor the guest don't shut up in strech and in the "Foyer'' ! And it's very boring --' ! Bref , the video its beautiful and thanks because i recreate the Phantom Manor in RCT3 and your video help me !

    Toons ;)

  • @Toonsrct3

    I'm not English or American, i'm from Pays-Bas. ;-)

Good luck with your RCT3 project.

  • Aussi bien dans la strech que dans le Foyer ouais --' ... !!! Quoi qu'une fois j'ai bien à réussi à les faire taire :D !!!

  • Amazing qaulity. You should sell it on a dvd.

  • best video ever!!!

  • I've always wanted to see phantom manor ever since I was a child. Someday, when I graduate College, My dreams will come true.

  • I think this video is very good.

Can I use part of your video?

  • @adokatako

If you announce my name in the credits, you can.

  • May I ask which date you recorded this? I've seen the broken window in the Gazebo also two weeks ago!

  • @Ravenswood17

I shot this on the 13th of july 2010.

  • The best video of PM i've ever seen...
