Esse trio, foi um dos marcos mais importantes e famosos da musica pop internacional dos anos 70-80, junto com outros como VOYAGE, The Vilage people Stievie Wonder, Santa Esmeralda e muitos outros.
I was a DJ in a night club when this was released and I play it as my HOT SHOT of the week no one liked it. I played it a few times and gradually people took to it until they were ASKING for it! This was a floor filler in the 80's always got them up dancing. Still makes my spine tingle and in a matter of months I will be LIVING in America! American Generation rox!
The very first time I ever heard this song was in `79 at a Gay bar in Biloxi, MS, Le Bistro... I was only 15, but I borrowed someone else's I.D. to get in... good times!
the most bizarre disco production ever. and a great one. why the munchkin voices i always wondered? but the production is unreal and the sound is fantastic, on cd anyway.
these 3 are not the Original Ritchie family; they are replacements. I remember seeing them in person at the City Club in San Francisco in 1978 and they bascially SUCKED
Were they trying to sing the songs of the trio before them? That's probably why it sucked. Doesn't always work out with replacements. My opinion is, when the last original member leaves a group, for all practical purposes the group is dead. But this new trio kept the group name because it was named after its original co-creator, Richie Rome, and he actually left as producer in 1977. Jacques Morali, the other co-creator, was still there.
Strange as it may be, although I remember this one VERY well, I don't remember much of what they did in the years 1979-81. The song that I think gave the replacements any credibility was "I'll Do My Best" in 1982, courtesy of Jacques Fred Petrus, the producer of the groups Change and High Fashion.
@CookyMonzta "Put your feet to the beat" was big in the NYC clubs and radio in summer 1979, "Give me a break" came out in 1980 with Can't stop the music. I think "I'll Do My Best" had yet another line up of vocalists. There is a greatest hits album that has all their hits from "Brazil" and onward.
Love the dress's, my family made 500 dress's for a client like the on the video, I ended up borrowing, one for the night club on Friday. I got a lot of compliments, then the next day I had to dry clean it, before they found out at the company on Monday. I had a great time back in the days. thank you for posting.
It was released in 1978. The lineup was Ednah Holt, Dodie Draher and Jacqui Smith-Lee. This was Ednah's only album as a member of the Ritchie Family. Vera Brown would replace her in 1979.

This song is very Europop in its sound. While this nice, they sound better with Disco.
