  • Saskatchatoon?!

  • I wonder if Bob knew that he could go down to the local recycle center and pick up many cans.

Very neat project. He must have used the original accordion as a second keyboard, sounds like it.

  • I'm tinkering with PVC pipe and have made my 1st "pipe" E3. More to come. I gotta make jigs. My methods of fine tuning the pipes needs improvement.

    I'll post a vid soon. It's cool stuff !

You have taken your art to the highest level ! The blower has given me ideas.

  • That's so cool. So this is in Saskatoon, eh? Does the organ still exist?

  • Did you saw the bottoms off the cans or what?

  • It sounds like this was hosted by Robert Schuller....

This is a *fantastic* video!! very inspiring.

  • What is the name of the theme song to the show? The organ is awesome! I now want to build one just like it.

  • thank theegr1

  • what is the song he plays at 3:10

  • I believe it was Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring by JS Bach.

  • great project and lovely family you have ....yay beans!

  • Very cool...you were lucky to have such an interesting father.

  • He would have loved MAKE Magazine.

  • I think the most beautiful thing about this is that the whole family pitched in to build it, and then seeing the kids playing together to make music. I'm sure they'll never forget that.

  • they where fartin like mad after them beans

  • muy chevere pero ¡ pero deje de cantar esa cancion tan asquerosa del programa

  • that was great it was a shame he couldnt do more.

  • i wish i had a pipe organ :P

  • I've often thought about building a home made pipe organ using PVC pipes. Anyway great video. The organ does sound pretty good given its made of tn cans and a busted accordion. Great Video.

  • im trying to build one out of pvc pipe too

  • I actually like the hoky-ness of the program, but that organ sure sounds like a reed organ, not a pipe organ. I dont think those tin cans are doing anything at all. I think the sound being generated is coming from the busted up accordian and the pipes are just "facade" pipes to give it a cool look. Maybe the pipes are there to act as resonators. But this just doesnt sound like a flute powered instrument.

  • Your ears serve you well in that you can hear some keys attached to reeds. Robert had trouble fitting that many pipes and hoses into a box that could squeeze into a living-room corner. The upper keyboard was a mix of reed, and reed augmented by pipes (for volume); but the lower keyboard was entirely pipe driven - and ONLY pipe driven. No reeds. I was there, I saw it constructed painstakingly over 2 years, and I heard the pipes bellow first hand; No fakery involved. :-)

  • @PaulAshKarpathos

    Flute powered?

  • Sounds like a mixture of reed and pipeorgan.

  • What a cool thing to do!

  • Fantastic instrument. Stupid programme.
