  • AIDS will be cured when ALL sexually active humans practice safer sex EVERY TIME they engage in intercourse. Of course, a vaccine/cure would also do the trick, but until that happens, EVERYONE who engages in sex must practice safer sex. Only in this way can one person stop another person from becoming HIV positive.

  • IF there are gods, people can easily pray to them any time anywhere during nearly any other activity, without anyone else being aware they are praying. Praying to omnipotent gods does not require clasping hands, kneeling, closing eyes, moving lips or making any sound. Stopping someone from praying would require a crime such as drugging them or knocking them senseless. If people must pray together among those who do not, they can wink at each other.

  • Prayers are only answered if they are in God's will. We pray for so many things that God does not want us to have and will never give them to us. God is like a parent and will only give things to us that will bring glory to God and right living to us. So our prayers need to be in God's will and not a list of things we want. Prayer is not a grab bag of good and services. Prayer is answered for what we need, not what we selfishly want.

  • @MRGV7373 More heresy. Man you are doomed as doomed can be.

John 14:13 [Jesus] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, THAT WILL I DO,, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Where are the qualifications that you spout above? As you have proven over and over on many of my videos you are clueless to what scripture says. You subplant it with your own religion based on your likes and dislikes and what you have been spoon fed by con men called preachers. My goodness you are hopeless.

  • @MRGV7373 Nonsense. What's the point of praying then if only god's will is being accomplishing.

  • @petion2010 God has a will? Isn't that more of a human trait?

  • @markedwardindc Yes, it's a woman trait. God is our invention, so, we created him in our likeness.

  • @MRGV7373 Does that mean if I pray for a cure for AIDS and get it, it was something I needed, but if I pray for a cure for AIDS and don't get it, it was nothing more than a self want?

  • claim to be christian,, that is the point,, salvation is personal,, all diseases will end, soon

  • @albusai So NONE of them are? Not even devout, life-long Christians can collectively pray for something to happen? Ending disease would not be salvation. If people were to be free of disease that does not mean they'd have achieved salvation. They'd still have to work to getting there and would be in a better position without being diseased.

If diseases ever end it will be because of medicine.

  • @gatorhighlights4 If diseases ever end, it will be due at least as much to sanitation as to medicine. Clean water, air & food. Good housing with plumbing. Cooking properly. Cleaning properly. Proper handling of food & medicine. Proper care of all domesticated animals.

  • @Strangerinasland Good point; very true.

  • Excellent!

  • Christians don't get answer to pray because they don't pray in the will of God, for example. I ask God who to pray for. I started praying for this person, and God started showing me things about this person to pray for. He changed my direction. What I thought originally to pray for was not God's will. But we must ask God's will in how to pray in matters, and in faith he will show us. I have had this often. And it works.

  • @savedbyjesusblood If prayer only works if it is the will of god then prayer is useless, god is going to do his will no matter what you pray. Gods will was set in place before the foundations of the world. Nothing fails like prayer. John 14:13 and other verses where Jesus says he will do what every you ask in his name or where two or more are in agreement and pray in his name are outright lies according to your own apology.

  • these things have to be done in faith " faith of a mustard seed" my prayers are answered most of the time in very neat ways. maybe god answers your prayer with no? im sure it is for a greater good. and before you say something like " how can there be a greater good to childern with cancer?" i say to you only the father knows so ask him in faith and maybe you'll get and answer. lol

  • @foxdragon84 You seem to be adding qualifiers to the words attributed to Jesus: John 14:13 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

I don't see anything about ever once in a while in neat ways (kinda like coincidence), nor does it say he would ever turn you down as long as it was for something good and unselfish. Your own testimony proves that this promise from Jesus is false. Thanks.

  • @Netwriter i will addmit to being bad and selfish at times in my prayers in my heart i may be praying for others but i will only see how it would benifit me after the fact. so what if we are un-aware that we are bringing glory to ourselves with our prayer? will god anwser? and what if our prayers have yet to be anwserd? so we pray and yeas down the road i comes to be. this is the case a couple of the OT? i look foward to your answers.

  • @foxdragon84 According to John 14:13 every unselfish prayer will be answered in the positive.

  • @Netwriter okay so if you pray in faith with unselfish intent then your prayers will be anwsered.... yup so that meens if they are not anwsered then you do not have enough faith or you had a selfish intent in your heart.

  • @foxdragon84 "okay so if you pray in faith with unselfish intent then your prayers will be anwsered..."

That is what Jesus promises in the bible in more than one place. Matt 17:20

"so that meens if they are not anwsered then you do not have enough faith or you had a selfish intent in your heart."

That is how christians give Jesus a pass, all 2B of them. The other option you failed to mention is that maybe the whole thing is nothing but the last great invention/hoax of the pagan world.

  • @Netwriter im not giving anyone a pass i myself have fallen short of the standard. lets test this scientificly my hypothisis if iyoupray with faith and in selflessness then what you prayed will happen. i invite you to do it and see. tell me what happens?

  • @foxdragon84 I tried it for 40 years. Not once in all those years was a prayer answered for me or any christian I knew. Not even as a small child with child like faith. Every answered prayer claimed would have happened anyway or god was given credit for what people did themselves. I have seen my whole church pray for someone to get well only to see that person die. Based on your claim, there is not a single person out of 2B able to pray with faith and selflessness.

  • its hard to think you to know the prayer status of 2B christians. my prayers are answered for the most part ( and i say for the most part because some days i just go through the motions its not right but it happens) those dont get answered but the ones that i put all my whole self into are answered. now for that person who fell asleep in christ, perhaps gods will took a role in that. i am sorry that for the 40 years you were a christian non of your prayers were answered.

  • @foxdragon84 I am glad your prayers are answered. What do you pray for? How about praying for a cure for childhood leukemia?

  • @Netwriter i dont if gods will is to have childhood leukemia in the world, but ill take a crack at it. :D ill know if they find a cure. hahaha that be sweet!!!

  • @Netwriter as i was praying a thought popped into my head that i was praying and if it worked my point would have been proven. so now im not praying to cure chlidhood leukemia but to prove my point that is a selfish intent therfore my prayer wont work i found myself trying to convince god instead of asking him. i am sorry, but for now no dice but i will work on it. :)

  • @foxdragon84 Good luck, keep me posted on your progress. I will watch the news.

  • if i may ask, what denomination you were?

  • @foxdragon84 Baptist

  • @Netwriter who started your church?

  • @foxdragon84 I don't have a clue, I have attended many. What does this question have to do with the blatant false claim by the character Jesus that he will answer yes to every prayer you ask in his name and his admonition that believers are to pray in secret, not in public? Red herring get tossed in a rush around here.

  • You have already failed to succeed in this argument. The fact that you said that Jesus ONLY wants Christians to pray in secret is the main problem here. I love how some people try to make a perfectly valid statement invalid by skipping other parts that modify or compromise what the previous statement has already related. What the verse was TRYING to say was singularly related to the Christian life. 'Jesus' did not want Christians to pray in public where other men could see them for their own

  • @pcred562 benefit, etc. appearing to be a 'good person' in the eyes of men. A simple misinterpretation has debunked this entire spiel of yours complaining about Christians praying in public or at public events. You are obviously attempting to stop the spread of Christianity, and you are not the first. I highly suggest that you, being an athiest, at least try to speak about one of the many valid arguments there are over prayer. You might learn something useful from the experience.

  • @pcred562 Arguing here too, huh bitch? You're an ignorant cunt that knows nothing. No one cares about you citing your own interpretations of the fucking bible, while you're trying to pass yourself as a fucking atheist. If you were an atheist, then you wouldn't give a shit about their fairytale books. The spread of christianity is already stopped in developed nations. Now they're resorting to Africa where as a result, children are being murdered for practicing witchcraft. Look it up.

  • @CobraUmerus I never said I was an athiest, now did I, asshole? I just said I was no longer a Christian. Now you can take all of what you just said and shove it up your ass. Will you give this up? I'm tired of trying to make a point when all I recieve is cussing and invalid arguments.

  • @pcred562 Then what are you fag? A Buddhist? Invalid arguments? You said you have to believe in the bible and udnerstand their perspective before you can be an athiest. Tell your priest I said 'h'i while he fucks your ass, faggot. You make me sick. Go pull a jesus and hang yourself. Do this planet a favor.

  • @pcred562 But "christians" pray in public anyway. That is the point of this video.

  • Most Christians do not want to force prayer on others. It just seems like they are the majority because they speak more and are loader. To say that all Christians want to force prayer on everybody only proves that this video wants to accomplish nothing but spreading hate.

  • i see what you're saying about praying in public like hypocrites do. that's what separates "believers in God" from the labeled "Christians". Christians often pray in public (giving christianity a bad name by their disobedience about how to pray). Just my two cents worth. Please take it with a grain of salt... if I offend anyone, I apologize. This is not my intention.

  • @lizardinco

    "giving christianity a bad name"

Um, actually, Xianity has had a bad name ever since it became the greatest single cause of war, bloodshed, and human suffering on earth.

  • @Imaginefree69 okay. don't blow a fuse... i understand what you're saying. and you are very right too.

  • @lizardinco

Speaking the truth is blowing a fuse?

    Only in religion, pardner.

    I'm just stating the facts.

  • @Imaginefree69 DUDE - CHILL! I was agreeing with you, not trying to cause trouble. But when people say "Um, actually blah blah etc" it gives me the impression that you may have been grumpy to begin with (MAYBE, I'm not saying you were). Stating facts? Yes - and I agreed with your facts. Read the whole message, not just part of it. I can't say anything here on YT without someone taking it so personal like they do. Again, If I offended ANYONE, I apologize. This is not my intention.

  • @lizardinco

"Um, actually.." strikes you as hostility!?!

To me, it sounds like a carefully gentle introduction to correcting a friend's mistaken notion.

Talk about a failure to communicate!

And if I might make the suggestion.

don't apologize so much for having an opinion. Would it be better to hide the truth and encourage error just because some ignorant people might choose to take offence?

It's time for us all to grow up and deal with reality on a rational basis rather than emotional reactions.

  • Comment removed

  • @pocketfulosunshine Just ignore the words of Jesus, Barbie, see how that works out for you.

  • @pocketfulosunshine That's the best you can say? You must be a Christain because you're an idiot! I can't see that the maker of this video can do anything more productive than point out the stupidity you religious people get into and want to foist upon others. Why don't you stop wasting your time with inane comments and go do something useful - like NOT praying!

  • @pocketfulosunshine

How exactly did he take the bible out of context? If Jesus (who is apparently "God") tells us he will give us anything, and God is all powerful and all knowing then it must be true. You really can't believe in the bible when you cherry pick things that YOU want to be true.

  • @pocketfulosunshine

    cafeteria christian

  • You know... when I was 6, I was a Christian, and I prayed for my grandpa to not die of cancer... WHAT THE CRAP!!!

I had faith, and it wasn't a selfish prayer either, and nothing happened! He still fucking died!

  • @Jarut195

Find me where in the Bible God says he will answer you prayer every time you pray ?

  • @SupernaturalGifts777

    Matthew 7:7-8

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

    John 14:13-14

"I will do whatever you ask in my name... You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it"

And yet Jesus himself could not get his prayers answered.

That ought to tell ya something, eh?

  • No one is trying to stop you from praying. We will resist you trying to force others who are not part of your superstition to pray. If you want to pray in public against the orders of Jesus, be my guest.

  • @Sophiethefembot Of course you are free to pray. And if you really believe that no one else should ever be forced to pray, then I think we have common ground and probably can work from there. Like netwriter said, we have no desire to stop anyone from praying.

  • Ok fair enough. Yes I agree no one should be forced to pray. I'll probaly have kids one day and bring them up under christianity. I will encourage them to pray but I will never force them. If one of them decided to become an atheist one day I would still accept them, love them and respect them. Prayer should be a choice, a thing wanted, not forced on someeone. On the other hand it shouldn't be denied to someone wanting it either.

  • No, I don't think anyone should be denied their right to pray. Hopefully, your children will be presented with all the information about religion, science etc and can make their own minds up about what they want to believe or not believe. It is good that you will love and respect them either way. You will likely be a good parent...

  • @Sophiethefembot

We dont want to stop you :)

But I would like to open your eyes to the truth.

Because I am a good person and I want to help others.

  • thank you that's very kind of you :) Though I would like to do the same with you too. I'm sure you are a lovely person, I can see your heart is big :)

  • No one can tell us what religion to be, we all gotta believe in God and its true there are many ppl that die of hunger, cancer, many kinds of diseases; we all have suffered in a way, but nothing is compared of what Jesus suffered 2000 yrs ago.

  • Do you compare the suffering of a child for months or even years with a painful disease, then death, or the daily and ongoing pains of starvation, to one day of pain supposedly suffered by a god man who pops right back up a couple days later? My goodness you really haven't thought this through have you? Jesus just had a bad weekend, wake up from your delusion, please.

  • Yes i have thought about it and its sad to know but God knows what hes doing and you shouldnt really talk about him like that.

  • One needs only read the book of Genesis to realize that this god of the bible is a bumbling idiot. Please watch my video "The Creation According to Genesis".

"A man is as evil as the god he worships"

    - Gali Yonvadisi

  • @Netwriter

christians dont have faith to start of with....why you ask?...well if they trusted their supposed god....why would they be praying to a all knowing object, that knows something needs fixing.......If they had faith a god was all knowing and trusted it.......they would just be sitting back without talking to themselves/praying.....seems this god of theirs needs reminding of things...or they continue to keep asking as they get no answer.....and so the cycle continues....

  • If you ever would get into a well equipped torture chamber, you would know there were people who suffered more, only those people's story isn't written.

Compared to that, Jesus died rather quickly.

Furthermore Christians threaten us with an eternity in hell, that's more for one man than what Christ suffered for all of us and we still wouldn't have our sins forgiven, so what is wrong with this picture?

  • @biscochito07 "nothing is compared of what Jesus suffered " Nonsense. Each person was cursed by god to eternity in torment for their piddly sins. But Jesus, who took upon himself the sins of the entire world (not just those of believers) does NOT have to spend eternity in hell. No, he has an unpleasant week, a really rough afternoon, and 36 hours (not "three days and three nights") in the grave, after which he hops up to be the King of the Universe! Now THAT is a blue light special!!
  • @biscochito07

Suffering is a child who suffers with no food....over say a month or two..then dies now thats suffering real suffering...or lets say a child with cancer......doctors out of love help.....to reduce that suffering....but in the end the child dies and was in pain for years ....you dont even know the meaning of suffering...retard :)

  • i don't agree with the prayers everywhere but to call them hypocrites is really funny. except the Amish all religions have killed in the name of god. so that makes ALL of them hypocrites

  • Praying is like filling sandbags during a flood, gives you something to do before the water inundates your ass and property.

  • What a brilliant video!!!

But now I beg a question: as I have insulted a lot of Christians by questioning Jesus' existence, they often tell me that they will pray for me.

Does this count against me if the Christian god is the wrong one?

  • When a christian tells you that they will pray for you, it means I have lost this debate, have no answer to what you have propped, so f**k you.

Don't worry, they don't really pray for you, so you are in the clear. They know prayer does not work.

  • Thank god!

  • Lol, are you really devoting your life to going against Christians? Typically, one of your billboards on your billboard video states "There's probably not a God, so enjoy the rest of your life" while you're sitting your ass in your chair making all these videos that are trying to prove Christians wrong and making fun of God. I mean have you ever fucking though about free will? IT'S OUR OWN DAMN DECISIONS THAT BRING PAIN INTO THIS WORLD. God or no God, HUMANS BROUGHT PAIN INTO THIS WORLD.

  • I see that you lack critical thinking skills. Free will is impossible with an omniscient and omnipotent god. Everything is just the way an omnipotent god wants it to be or it would be different. An omni god is responsible for everything including the pain in the world. Stop making a fool of yourself and start thinking.

  • Now, when you think of pain, YOU think of pain such as war, gore, bloodshed, massacres, etc. This might sound queer to you, but pain isn't always such a bad thing. In fact, it can make you love someone more. Example: You and your friend gets into a HUGE argument. Then the next day your friend has a near death experience. Well, your going to act like the argument didn't happen and you will love him like a long lost brother.

  • @epicenur

You really have a diseased mind.......

"This might sound queer to you, but pain isn't always such a bad thing. In fact, it can make you love someone more"

Well in that case how about I whip everyday for hours....take all the money out of your bank account ..punch you in the face for say 50 years 10 times a day

Remember you will love me more for it :)

  • @devante11 no, infact your an ignorant asshole. you made the choice to hurt others with the attention to bring them pain. You really don't think your comments through, ever heard of our belief of heaven and hell?- I'm not going to respond because you have no education of the Bible or Catholic faith which means you're just not going to put up a good factual fight.

  • @epicenur

You have no common sense or reasoning ability, so your a lost cause from the start ...as all of this has been raped from you :)

If something is fucked up----->> it starts with the source, as in the start .....the product is the direct product of that source......if source is fucked up----->>> so is product ...perfect never begets imperfect.....

  • @epicenur

" IT'S OUR OWN DAMN DECISIONS THAT BRING PAIN INTO THIS WORLD. God or no God, HUMANS BROUGHT PAIN INTO THIS WORLD."

The product (man) is only as good as the source (a god)...thus if you say humans brought suffering into the world..then by your definition so did the source of that product........god had freewill to create a world with or without suffering..he choose wrong and thus we have suffering ....not mans fault-------- man is the product not the source

  • @devante11 finally, an atheist with a good idea. So you're saying if God was a dictator then he would be running the world quite smoothly. But that would make the world dull. Pain is the sense that something is wrong with our body, like there's a twig in our eye or a sickness that needs to be taken care of. People with cancer provide doctors with patients, thus giving the doctors their jobs. Pain is just the natural way of saying something is fucked up with your body and it needs to be fixed.

  • Religious mind brother Jesus gave us the power we cant pray for healing because Jesus already healed you people need to command sickness to leave the body praying to god for healing conterdicts gods promise threw Jesus by his stripes we are healed Faith gives you the power to tell spirits to leave Religion is a lie started by a Liar

  • "Jesus already healed you people need to command sickness to leave the body"

LOL are you honestly suggesting that yelling at a microscopic group germs to leave my body will heal me? Wow, you should go hang around a children's hospital and tell the kids who have cancer there that.

  • if you heard about Christ you could call yourself a christian please hear me religion is a lie if you do what Jesus asked you would be a born again christian Christians are not safe because they knew god but never became born again just as Jesus asked

  • Sorry if this is off topic, but I really like the music in this video.

  • Prayer works! Last night millions of Hindus prayed for the eclipse to end. It did.

Proof that prayer works. Elementary, my dear Watson.

  • Are you being serious. So millions of Hindus prayer for something to stop that barely lasts anytime at all and it did? Tell you what, today, I'm going to get my roommates, friends, family and whole city to pray that the sun goes down tonight. And when it does, then I'm going to go around promoting the power of prayer

  • We live in a fallen world, our hope is on the life that IS to come, not on the one now.

  • The words of a member of a death cult. Problem with this fallen world you claim is that it was created by your god just as it is and by his will, if the bible is to be believed. If it is any different than he wants, then he is not omnipotent and omniscient.

  • The Bible says that professing to be wise, you became a fool. Being a Christian of 40 years, was original sin ever explained to you? Did it ever occur to you that the holiness of God is offended by one sin? God cursed this abode because of it. Things are starting to fall into place. God sent the Jews among the nations (as fore written), brought the Hebrews back into their land in 1947 (as fore written), now only a matter of time before the next event. People all over are being saved:)

  • Before your quoting of the bible has any credibility you need to prove that it is the word of a god, any god. Can you do that?

If god wants the earth to be different than it is, then before creation, when he knew exactly how it would turn out he should have not gone on with creation or changed it. He didn't. Original sin is part of his will if he is omnipotent and omniscient. It is all his fault. An omni god gets no free pass. To blame mankind for god's will is fallacious.

  • Look at history though, and see that the Hebrews had their land, they were given a scriptural warning though. If they continually went after other gods, they would be dispersed throughout the nations. It later happened, because they continually went on sinning. The prophets wrote of a time when they would come BACK to their land and gain control of it again. It has happened, though the rest of it has yet to happen. The nation still doesn't have control over OLD Jerusalem or Palestine.

  • Sorry, but the land was never theirs and the Hebrew are still spread all over Europe and other countries. Only a small minority of them are in Palestine. You ignore all the other failed prophecies, also.

  • What you're basically saying is that God should do what you want Him to do. "Why would God create something He knew would fall apart?" So He can restore it and have mercy on fallen creatures when they come to Him. Just because in your humanism, it seems cruel to you, that doesn't prove that the God of the Bible doesn't exist. I would say that in your heart you DO acknowledge his existence, but you would rather show anger by trying to remove your acknowledgment.

  • You are starting to think critically here. Good deal. Why would a supposed perfect god capable of knowing every detail of the future create imperfect creatures leading to such a mess as is this world. Your insight about me is as poor as your god's morality. I am not angry in the least.

  • I wasn't saying that you're angry at me, but that that you are angry at God and try to remove the acknowledgment of God in your heart . Some of the Hebrews are INDEED still spread all over Europe and such, but starting in 1947, they now have have access and (limited) control to the land that they received long ago. They will receive all of it back, but first they will go through something called the tribulation, or Jacob's trouble. It was NEVER theirs? Where do you get THAT info?

  • Sorry there Brian, but I am no more angry at the bible god than I am Harry Potter or Santa Claus. Even if the Hebrew get all of Palastine, Jesus had nothing to do with it, and he did not fulfill the requirements of the messiah. That is why they Jews do not accept him as the messiah, he wasn't.

  • God never made imperfect creatures we were perfect to begin with but we had the ability to chose between right and wrong/ good and evil. and we chose to take of the 1 fruit in the garden of eden that God said dont take of. He wasn't setting us up to fail he was giving us freedom of choice so that we wern't robots, loving Him because he made us too. Now we must live with the consequences of that choice humans made in the garden of eden: Sin and death.

  • If god had made man perfectly, Adam and Eve would have had perfect judgment. They would not have eaten the fruit. Your apology ignores that the bible god is supposed to be omnipotent and omniscient. If so, he knew before he created the first thing that they would fall but went right ahead and created them anyway. This made the future not only his construction but also his will. Everything is his fault and everything is just the way he wants it to be or it would be different. You fail.

  • If God is God he doesnt have to work by Human logic now does he. your saying hes to blame for everything well even if he is (which he isnt, i just cant explain to you because you wont understand) he doesnt have to answer to you does he, hes God he can do what he wants. Saying God doesnt exist because he doesnt work within our reasoning/knowledge sphere is rediculous.

  • Your "might makes right" apology fails. The bible god is given attributes by the bible, then when those attributes are then logically examined all responsibility for his creation must be laid at his feet. You can't explain it away because it can not be. An omni god is responsible for everything, not his creation. No being can be both perfect and imperfect at the same time. Deal with it.

  • Are you kidding me? Christians are NOT forcing prayer. Prayer was and is in fact forced OUT. Bit of an ironic statement.

  • Great vid!

Great point, we must stop the invasion of religion in public life and protect our children!

  • Ever since I learned that I AM the source of my own power, not some god...my life has become 200% easier and more abundant.

Christians fail because they wait....and wait....and wait for god to fix the problems instead believing in themselves.

People need faith in themselves, in their own power.

Just compare the results of prayer to the results of a motivated, self-confident individual.

    Which one will accomplish more?

    The individual. Every Time.

  • Them not doing anything is exactly the reason why evolution is still debated. They claim it is false, but never ever try to prove it. The ignorance bleeds through out the entire religious culture.

A brilliant quote comes to mind at this time. I can't remember the exact words, but it goes something like "One pair of hands working will accomplish more than one million clasped in prayer."

  • BTW, great video with a great point.

  • A real suggestion for Christians: Don't argue with an Atheist, you will only end up looking foolish.

  • So this video is saying "Prayer doesn't work in my life and, oh yes, I'm an Atheist" - well, duh

76% of US physicians believe in God and the power of prayer -because they see it work everyday.

  • Karlmahlmann, I will not call you a liar at this time, but will if you don't provide a credible source for your 76% claim. If prayer worked, as advertised, there would be no need for doctors. All research on prayer have shown it does not work.

Also, where did I ever claim to be an atheist? Where?

  • Two recent polls below. And no, you did not call yourself an Atheist. That was an inference. What is your world-view (other than anti-Christian)?

University of Chicagos MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.: In the survey of 1,044 doctors nationwide, 76 percent said they believe in God,"

HCD Research and the Louis Finkelstein Institute for Religious and Social Studies of the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.: "73% [of doctors] believe they [miracles] can occur today"

  • Thanks for the sources. This explains why so many doctors have so much malpractice problems and extremely high insurance rates. Magical thinking does not bring about confidence or create quality medical care by such doctors. Personally I would rather a doctor treat me with solid medical science than pray for me.

My world view is personal to me. Just keep believing in talking snakes and a dying god. If it floats your magic boat then keep on floating.

  • "Thanks for the sources. This explains why so many doctors have so much malpractice problems and extremely high insurance rates."

No, that would be explained by the American legal system, where thieves can also win lawsuits when they get hurt by a house they are robbing. You don't not know what you are talking about. It often costs doctors tens of thousands of dollars and weeks of lost time even when they are innocent of all wrongdoing.

  • The doctors attract so many suits because they are paid so well. That is America get the best and brightest. They pay doctors so much more than almost any other country. Would you rather do this like an atheist country such as the PRC where family members often have to storm hospitals just to find out answers to a relatives death?

  • "...I would rather a doctor treat me with solid medical science than pray for me."

Where? the PRC, Sweden, UK, Rus., Estonia, Czech Rep., Vietnam, N. Korea? What atheistic country are you thinking that can even begin to compete with the US cure rates for serious diseases? Basically just Japan (4% to 16% other relig./atheist/non-religious according to CIA factbook,).

So if you get sick, instead of going to the US for medical treatment, you would leave it?? Or is this just rhetoric/hyperbole

  • US medical treatment is no different than any other atheist medical treatment. As far as i know of american medicine it is based on drugs, exams, and so on.. all scientifically tested.

Or perhaps you were referring to native american medicine done with rituals and curative herbs?

I hope your post was sarcams.....

  • kyagh, did you see the comment I was replying to? Here is a summary:

karlmahlmann wrote, "76% of US physicians believe in God and the power of prayer -because they see it work everyday."

Netwriter replied, "This explains why so many doctors have so much malpractice problems and extremely high insurance rates. Magical thinking does not bring about confidence or create quality medical care by such doctors..."

  • Excellent, karlmahlmann...so, same question. Why doesn't god answer the prayers of amputees? Surely there are devout amputees. Only a "mustard seed" amount of faith is needed anyway. Further, of course, a persons limb spontaenously growing back would certainly glorify god...so, same question, why doesn't god answer the prayers of amputees?

  • Why doesn't god answer the prayers of amputees?

Logically speaking, you have to back-up your presupposition (which I believe is false). All you're saying here is that you can think of a miracle so big that no one could possibly ask God, believing that their prayer would be answered. Try asking God for something really big, like forgiveness and eternal life (youll need to do this in complete faith). Let me know what happens.

For everyone who asks, receives - Matthew 7:8

  • I can easily back up my "presuppistion". There are no recorded instances of limbs regrowing. So, there we are on that. Now, as to your equivocation, nice fail. God doesn't answer the prayers of amputees because there is no god to answer prayers.

    OR

    God doesn't answer prayers?

    OR

    God hates amputees?

    OR

It's not part of gods' plan?

So...why DOESN'T god answer the prayers of amputees?

  • Back at you, try asking your god something great, and not selfish like eternal life just for yourself but like eliminating childhood hunger in africa. What are you waiting? *cough*selfishbstrd*cough*

BTW Letting young children die of hunger is definitively not acceptable as part of a higher plan. The end doesn't justify the means.

"logically speaking" ... logically speaking prayer fails. No if and/or buts XD

  • For years, we were praying for the hungry people in China, and look what happened; They became the worlds 2nd largest economy. OK, I guess Ill switch to Africa, but something tells me youll have another objection after that also. There are all kinds of Christian charities feeding the hungry of the world. Nevertheless, poverty will always be with us. But as for your unanswered prayers, Did you ask in faith and humility before God? That is a prerequisite, you know.

  • I'm not a christian.

I am asking you guys, since your lord grants you everything you want then I am asking you why the examples brought up in the video are not "fixed" trough prayer yet. Since you guys are the ones supposed to hold the truth why don't you show us?

Only problem is that if it was true that christian prayers would be answered and not for example the ones of hindus there should be a measurable statistical difference, which there isn't.

Praying to god is useless. Give it up

  • And if you think that the situation in china has gotten better since the communist dictatorship rose you gotta be kidding me. The average chinese man works at least 12 hours a day and gets by with a monthly salary of 200$.

Of course they are the 2nd most powerful country, their population is almost enslaved...

  • So, peace to you. Not that my faith is shaken at all, but I'm simply done talking with mere nonsense. Internet arguments are worthless and they go around in circles, with arrogance being its power source and with ignorance being its creator.

  • Mildog, the arrogance comes from those who speak with certainty that they KNOW that something occurs when, in the next breath, they acknowledge that they DON'T know why something else DOESN'T occur when those two things are the same thing...PRAYER. Prayer works. YOUR assertion. Yet PRAYER doesn't work and you don't know why for certain things, in certain situations and for certain people. Yet, over and OVER you continue YOUR arrogant assertion that prayer works. THAT is arrogance.

  • How can you say that it doesn't for me? It has... and continues to work.. Ummm arrogance is saying that you know what I've seen without you ever seeing me or what I've seen.. that is arrogance.... How would you know anyways? You must truly be in Christ and Christ in you for starters. What you say is therefore invalid. You cannot state those things without having the elements needed to say such things

  • No, mildog, arrogance comes from telling what that you KNOW the truth. That YOU know the mind of God. That you KNOW prayer works even though you admit that you cannot explain why god won't help amputees, even though there are surely devoted christians with faith who have lost limbs...yet, you STILL proclaim arrogantly that you KNOW prayer works. That YOU know this. That is ARROGANCE.

  • Brother, you've got it all wrong. But I do not wish to argue. I'm simply a messenger. Like I said , there is many, many things I do not know how to answer.. Well, personally, I see that prayer does work! So, from a personal basis, I can't say it doesn't. Once again I must say, I do not understand many things. But the fact that God reveals Himself to me in many ways everyday, I cannot deny the fact that He is real. It is all over our heads...

  • Yet, mildog, even though you can't provide any evidence for prayer working nor can you answer why prayers won't work for amputees you WILL assert with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY that prayer DOES work?

  • I think the world itself and the intelligent design behind everything proves He is real..It didn't happen by chance! Much less if you actually experience His presence within..

But about the prayer thing, you keep consistantly saying the same thing........Why??

Personally, I know it does, in HIS WILL...

But how am I supposed to show that to someone whose eyes are blind to it. Not to mention I can't hardly show proof with mere words on th gay internet. I'm quitting this nonsense.

  • Sorry, not going to be drawn into the intelligent design argument. At least not until you can answer how you can tell me prayer works without evidence of any kind and when you admit yourself that there seems to be no answers for amputees for some reason even though he DOES answer other prayers (which, as I said, still has no evidence).

  • Intelligent design argument??? WTF there are people still beliveing that even after the missing link between men and apes has been found!?!?!? For god's shake (maybe not) open your eyes people!

  • Kyagh, please read my thread with mildog. I am in no way a believer...

  • Things have to take place on this Earth, good and bad...

Like I said, If you exclude them, you exclude life itself.. It's over our heads!

  • No, mildog, this is the excuse you now have to make as to the completely random nature of "prayer". Why don't the prayers of amputees, whose prayers both glorify god and are meant in good faith, get answered? Because we have to accept good and bad? Then what is the point of prayer at all? God will answer prayers or not answer prayers at its' whim. You will or won't lose a limb according to the plan of god and NONE of your prayers will alter that as this is GODS' PLAN.

  • lol and I believe Christians often pray for the wrong things as well... I tend to become self-centered with my prayers at times

  • lol and I believe Christians often pray for the wrong things as well... I tend to become self-centered with my prayers at times-mildog

But, mildog, this is the POINT of prayer. Jesus guarentees that as long as your prayer glorifies god and you have a SMALL amount of faith, you can get your prayer answered. Well, I would say a person who clearly lost a limb then prayed and, poof, there was a leg there where there clearly wasn't, that would glorify god, yes?

  • Alright, I'm starting to divert my God-given energy into shear annoyance lol.. So I'll quit talking now. I could talk about it all day because I desire to and I owe it to Him.

" I like your Christ but I do not like your Christians... your Christians are so unlike your Christ"- Ghandi

    He was a wise man

  • Sorry, how does this VERY long diatribe answer my question? You assert that god answers prayers...why doesn't god answer the prayers of amputees?

  • The truth is that prayer does the same amount of good as talking to yourself. Children die, who could be kept alive because their silly parents pray instead of getting them proper medical treatment. I bet you go to the doctor when you are sick even though the bible says to have a couple elders oil you up and pray over you when your ill. Isn't that following the world mildomildogmildog?

  • Its of no use "you can explain something to them in very simple terms and it goes right over their heads" XD

  • Also mildog i was mentally abused by christianity as a kid as it was FORCED upon me here in the american bible belt. At age 14 I was finally able to say no I will no go to church anymore. That was the best day of my life not having to go worship a fake god. Even if he was real I wouldn't worship that geneocidal monster who hates mankind.

  • Middog you talk about truth and like you actually know it. Im tell you something no one knows where we come from, but I bet you if we put aside mankinds bullshit gods that we could find out more than we know now.

  • Why must you fight it if you don't believe in it? Should it matter if it isn't Truth?

  • it matters because Christians everywhere try to force what they believe in down everyone's throats. If they practiced their religion in silence and left everyone else alone they wouldn't be "attacked" as they always complain...

  • Mildog we fight because we are tired of the oppression of the church. It's time truth is revealed in this world. I am tried of christians forcing there fairy tale god all over me. I am tired of in god we trust on money. Ya I bet your god really likes us having in god we trust on money. Get an education and open a real book (preferably a science book).

  • Hey mildog, if prayer works, why doesn't it work for amputees?

  • I know how you feel for dang sure. I hated Christianity and everything to do with it. I thought it was a false corrupt system set up to keep people in order and to give weak humans a false sense of comfort because after this life, there was nothing...

  • Sorry, how does this VERY long diatribe answer my question? You assert that god answers prayers...why doesn't god answer the prayers of amputees?

  • I clearly answered that with my opinion... I said I do not know.. I wish I could answer that question.. But I cannot.. God answers prayers in His will.. That's why I say, "In Your name I pray".. I long to know God more.. I wish I knew why things are the way they are.

  • Ah. Then perhaps you could recind your assertion that god answer prayers as there is no more evidence of this than there is of any other random event. Someone prays for rain, and it rains. Someone else prays for rain, and it doesn't. Prayer is nothing more than man wishing for something or someone to come along and alter that which he, the man, cannot. Sometimes it appears that this works, as with the rain illustration, more often it does not.

  • I wish I could answer that with words ,brother.

  • Nothing fails like prayer.

  • the room at the top of the tower is empty

  • Nothing is twisted here Joel575 except your ability to think rationally. Your Jesus fellow is supposedly OMNIPOTENT. Nothing can stop him from doing what every he wants or promises. You speak heresy claiming that evil is more powerful than he. The only thing that can stop him from keeping his promises is that he is a fictional character and the bible is a lie, nothing more.

  • Jesus is omnipotent.

    Really?

where does the bible say that?

  • Omnipotent

    Matthew 19:26

    Genesis 17:1

    Job 42:2

    Jeremiah 32:17,27

    Luke 1:37

    Revelation 19:6

  • "where does the bible say that?"

    "Omnipotent

    Matthew 19:26

    Genesis 17:1

    Job 42:2

    Jeremiah 32:17,27

    Luke 1:37

    Revelation 19:6 "

You have just created the new definition of the word OWNED

    XD

  • I'm glad you enjoy worshiping such a malevolent god that punishes people based on faith and not on deeds.

  • you could do all the good deeds in the world but not believe in god

    what would happen then??

would you just go to heaven even though you dont believe in it???f

  • Nope. All sins are forgivable, except for apostasy (not believing). Even if you're a good person, you will still go to Hell. That is how the Christian God operates.

  • 1/4 of the world is atheist u nerd

    thats 3/4 CHRISTIAN

HAHA I HOPE ATHEIST BURN IN THE HELL

  • that means 3/4 of humans are morons
