  • on an island for two years. as awesome as green arrow is i don't think he could cut his hair with archery...

  • he's soooo gorgeous!

  • This is great!

  • Are you sure this is the origin story? In season six they had a green arrow mini sieres he got his first bow from his parents. How do you know he didn't already have arrow skills but became rusty by the time he had come to the island? I mean if I were stuck on an island I would think of making a spear before thinking of a bow and arrow unless I had skills with a bow and arrow.

idk do you understand what im trying to say?

  • @janthony227 Even in the comics it was established in Green Arrow: Year One that he learned archery when he was younger, but that the actual events that led him to become Green Arrow mostly happened on an island.

So he may have learned archery when he was a kid, but he learned to use it as a hero in a very similar way to what this video shows.

  • Damn for being stranded on the island for 2 years without a toothbrush or toothpaste he's teeth are incredibly white! Lol

  • Question! if he was on this island for such a long time how is his beard so well kept!

  • if there are hogs it has to be hawaii what other island has a hog problem?

  • I love Oliver, but where is 2 years beard?

  • Green arrow funny as in the cartoon

  • something about superhero archers... mmmm

  • nice shave and hair cut for being on that island for two years

  • man i always knew that Oliver was stuck on an island and thats what humbled him so nicely ... . . but TWO YEARS?!?!?!?! daaaaang.

  • does anyone know what workout justin hartly did for his role for green arrow?

  • @vincentcapuano please can anyone help me out with this ?

  • @vincentcapuano "3 days of cardio for 30-45 minutes. No junk foods. No white bread, sugars, saturated fats, and dairy late at night"

  • @FaxModem1 what type of cardio exercises and any protein and what about dairy ?

  • Anyone, please helpme im begging. Im not a smallville follower but i just found out that Green Arrow is in Smallville. Im a huge green qrrow fan. Please can anyone of you guys tell me in what season from what season Green Arrow is in? Which its focuses more on the green latern himself. asap, :(

  • what was that oliver had on at 2:37?

  • @vincentcapuano That would be a blindfold, meaning that's he gone from barely being able to hit the tree to hitting a bullseye blindfolded over the span of however many months he was there.

As for Green Arrow's other abilities, Archery, close quarters combat, and that's about it. But he is REALLY good at the archery, so its all he needs. Well, that and his trick arrows.

  • @FaxModem1thanks but i meant what was he wearing over his head not the blindfold.

  • @vincentcapuano That would be the remnants of his shirt. Probably trying to keep himself cool after its fallen apart after however many months he's been there.

  • Sorry, I stand corrected, its clearly a different piece of clothing.

  • what are green arrows skills and abilities other than being a badass archer ?

  • I wonder what workouts did this guy have to do for green arrow on this show any thoughts?

  • @vincentcapuano anything?

  • besides batman....Green arrow is my 2nd best hero.

  • I Like the Green Arrow from the comic's better The old sex mad Hippy reminds of me

  • Holy crap! the old status bar is back!

  • Green Arrow > Superman!

  • Where is his beard?? He looks more like a Connor Hawke to me with the short hair and the almost nonexistent beard. But then again, Connor is his kid lol.

  • green arrow is liek robin hood but way way better

  • @NikolaTesla874 cause he is way way hotter!

  • Isn't Oliver supposed to be younger when he get's washed up on the island?

  • he's the master of snipers :D

  • @MakeForceZ someone know what is the song at 1:51?? please

  • Aquaman!!

  • Love Green Arrow! And you know what actually makes for good target practice for archery: pool. And visa versa. If u can do one, u can do the other.

  • so thats the story of green arrow

  • By the time he finished making all the arrows and bows and practicing, he should have been starved to death.

  • I still think that if he was there for two years, his hair would be longer or he'd have some sort of facial hair.. And his pants are way too nice

  • wow nice remake similar to the comics :D

  • im sry but that bow looks way to weak to fire that arrow that far and into a tree

  • smallville rules

  • rofl that sigh of relief he does. hahahah

    "hezewww"

  • He was on the island for 2 years but his hair wasn't longer at all !?

  • Wish I could get the soundtrack with the bit at 1:20

  • sexy.sexy.sexy.sexy man.

  • 1:38 I love these sorta montages when the hero like makes their equipment and costume in films and programs.

  • Actually the only reason clark wasn't superman yet was because he and the writers agreed that he would never put on the superman suit through out the whole series. So instead of using superman they used an alias before he became superman known as the blur.

  • i like the green arrow story and tess is so hot

  • Sooooo his hair doesn't grow?

  • My only complaint is how freakin young Ollie is. CLARK ISN'T EVEN SUPERMAN YET

  • @VsxFedora I don't understand... you're complaining about Ollie's age as being too young, but he's at least five years older than Clark (being the same age as Lex was, as they went to school together), and Clark is... what? 24 this season? It being the sixth season after the season in which he graduated? Truth be told... I think their ages are pretty spot on... Aquaman, Cyborg, and BART Allen on the other hand... they're ages are all screwed the frak up.

  • @lucread no, it's npot the age of Ollie. It's the age of Green Arrow. I'm pretty sure Clark becomes Superman before Ollie becomes Green Arrow. Ollie was definitely older when he went to that island.

Oh, and I was lying. I have two complaints. The other is that retarded-ass voice he uses.

  • @lucread Actually, Aquaman's age is right on. Also, if you count Bart as a modern version of BARRY Allen (the best Flash), than his age is spot on too! Cyborg's a different story.

  • @VsxFedora

Of course the producers original choice as the second hero on Smallville was Mr. Bruce Wayne, but the rights to him were tied up because of a couple of Chris Nolan directed movies that came out. Still, Oliver Queen / Green Arrow is a good second choice (and there are no other live action versions to compare him to, unlike Batman and Superman).

  • @Superbatfan they were too busy thinking about the "non-powered hero" aspect of it and not about the relationship with Clark. Bruce and Clark have a very special bond, but Ollie and Clark are like awkward co-workers who hardly know eachother's names in comparison.

  • @VsxFedora I hate him being on the show. He's supposed to be mixed frequently with Batman I thought, not Superman...

  • would have liked some more time shown when he is first firing the bow, like the sun setting moon rising etc to show that time has passed. it looks like he learnt that all in a day ... or they could have grown his beard. that would have shown it well.

  • oh i meant 9:49

  • @Rickeeey1000 And that is when?

  • ive never watched smallville before, but the green arrow makes everythin awesome. if i started watching smallville from teh season that the green arrow starts in would i be lost? and what season does he show up?

  • @vietsoldier01 He shows up in Season Six; and by my estimation you probably won't be lost since they explain a lot of what's happened.

  • where can i watch this whole video?

  • There is a mistake in Smallville !

In that episode, Green Arrow's origins began in a island but in the 9th season, there is an episode in which Green Arrow's origins began in his childhood with his mentor Dark Archer, in an old secret society in Scotland.

  • @SquirrAmy ~ No... there is no mistake on Smallville... the only mistake is in your viewing... the Island happened first, then he went and joined the archer society and was mentored by the Dark Archer. That episode in season 9, itself, specifically references the island via Chloe's dialog "There's only so much you can learn on an island by yourself." See... no mistake... just something YOU missed. He didn't go to society as a child, he went after he got off the island.

  • @lucread why'd you have to be so rude to him.

  • @lucread

Ok, thank you very much for the information ;)

I'm a french girl and it's difficult for me to understand all dialogs in the serie tv. ^^"

  • @lucread This Guy Knows His Comics And His SHows Lol

  • @SquirrAmy He wasn't a kid, he joined after he got off the island.

  • Justin Hartley Sweaty, Dirty and shirtless I LIke !!!! :)

  • Every one who says its in accurate to the comics needs to read more then year one. There is a whole ton of origin storys about green arrow and the only thing they have in common is an island and some arrows. This may not be the best one but it adds the ga universe, not takes away from it.

  • Its the comic book fans vs the Smallville relationship fans! Personally, I just want to watch something with superman/clark in it.

  • Maybe I ought to be a super hero and call myself "Cool Arrow". Spanish speakers will get the joke.

  • I also recommend reading Green Arrow: Year One, for anyone wanting to start picking up GA comics. It's a great place to start. :D

  • I watched this episode when it first aired, but I didn't read Green Arrow: Year One. Now that I've read it, and watched this again, they definitely did keep elements of GA: YO in the storyline. The basic ones. He floats to the island, makes his own bow and arrow, gets the hood, learns to be a survivor and the Island is under captivity. It would have been nice to see his hair really long and a beard on him, though. But that's just minor nitpicking.

    Green Arrow is awesome.

  • green arrow is one of the only things smallville got right

  • i don't care if its inaccurate, smallville's green arrow is awesome as far as i'm concerned and hot :), i can understand the die hard fans frustration but like lucread said its just an adaptation

  • Where's the beard? If he was stuck on a deserted island for 2 years he should at least have some beard...

  • I love DC characters but Smallville just plainly sucks ass

they should have just left it about superman and not ruin all the other DC characters with their bullshit storylines

  • My bro has a green arrow toy that said the same thing in this episode

  • I really can't decide who is the lamest character Martian Manhunter or Green Arrow...

    Tough choice

    Both are embarrassingly bad

  • batman? was thinking more robin hood lol

  • It's nothing wrong to this version, i like'd :

  • It's nothing wrong to this version

  • i really used to love smallville back then, but now im tired of it. its just too depressing and uninteresting. the creators are getting way too desperate.

  • I wonder who'd win in a fight, Green Arrow or Hawkeye(Marvel)?

  • this is lame this show really needs to end!!!

  • he better get a spinoff once smallville ends cuz:we got his origin right here so they dont need to waste an episode on that, got speedy sure its mia instead of roy so deal with it,one of his enemies the dark archer who might show again.and justin said he be down for it so i hope it happens

  • @gsnake007 Dude I was just telling myself that they need to make a show all with Green Arrow based on this from Smallville, with the Justin Hartley actor. That would be awesome.

  • @zacharywalls cw said that they wanted another superhero show to replace smallville when it ends and justin said hed keep being Green Arrow if it was greenlit so i hope it does cuz i didnt know GA exists till the justice league cartoon but i didnt like him until justin started playing him back in season 6 so im crossing my fingers

  • @gsnake007 So am I. And Same with me, I didnt start liking him until this.

  • stuck on the island for 2 years withn perfect hair, physique

  • this is wierd because in another episode of smallville it says he was a part of a clan of archers and that thats where he learned his skills

  • @princefagwad

No... that episode specifically had it stated "There's only so much you can learn on an island by yourself." That episode didn't contradict this, it just further explained more of his origin.

  • @lucread oooo thanks for the clarification bud...

  • green arrow is similar to hawkeye of marvel... but green arrow is more interesting.. ;)

  • @Xair20desactivado

Green Arrow was created in 1941... therefore Hawkeye was similar to Green Arrow... never get the two confused, lol (thats the DC fanboy in my yelling at all those Hawkeye lovers that claim GA as a ripoff of that character... seriously some Marvel fans are really stupid, no offense to any marvel fans out there).

  • 2:30 - 2:37 = MASSIVE RIP OFF OF ROBIN HOOD lol

  • @ltkirby1989

Most definately... especially now... you should read the current comics. He even has his own forest now... and he's getting him some merry men. Kinda funny.

  • 6:53 - 6-57 are you serious? they showed that on television?

  • @okxdad

No blood spatter means its okay, lol.

  • Zomg!

black canary is not gonna be happy

  • I think he's the most underestimated superhero out there.

  • @farside314

Definately one of them... though thanks to Smallville, he's getting some of his much deserved credit.

  • i love the music at 2.00 anyone know whats its called?

  • I like him alot more than clark in smallville but only because he uses his natural gifts and isnt invinsible!

  • @sexysteveontour08 you mus mean invincible

  • @sexysteveontour08

I like him better becasue he's my second favorite character (used to be my absolute favorite, but hey, things change)... Clark is like my 14th favorite, so there you go.

  • I'd like to see Green Arrow spin-off too. But they need different actress to play Dinah Lance.

  • @KyodaiKen1979

The actress is fine, the reversal of the utilization of the wig just makes BC look weird.

  • ses origines viennent pas tellement de la

quand il était petit il jouait déjà avec un arc

  • I hope speedy would show up soon

  • @warana2

Mia is in the series... and is his protege... kinda frustrating for me since Roy is my favorite character and has pretty much been avoided in this continuity.

  • this is not the origin, he has a mentor, in season 9 u will see.

  • this is the orgin he tells it to them dark arrow or whatever helped him train even more once he got back.

  • actually...its highly possible that this is the real origin...at lest the smallville tv show version of it because of the Tess Mercer being with him on the island part....he could have been trained by his mentor after he left the island to continue to master his skills better

  • @StuartTheGamerNerd

DID EVERYONE MISS THE LINE IN THE EPISODE "DISCIPLE" WHEN CLARK AND CHLOE MAKE MENTION OF THE ISLAND TRAINING?! C'MON PEOPLE... WAKE UP!!!

  • @radicalteh

This is the origin... he extends his training later... that episode even reinforces this origin by making mention of it.

  • Awesome!!! Green arrow forever!

  • Whoa, he's good.

  • what season and episode is this?

  • I see!! Season 8: Toxic..

  • I think he's great! :)

  • sorry i meant to say episodes not shows. Lol

  • this show is becoming too much about green arrow. he is cool and all. but taking kara off and replacing her with oliver was messed up. the show seems to be alllllllllllllllllllll about him now

  • @thebuckrogers22

i disagreed i think its a great idea to include him more in the show, his a great actor and he deserve more attention and just because few episodes were focusing on him it doesnt mean the show is about him

  • @thebuckrogers22

Laura Vandervoort didn't want to stay on the show, nor did the producers want her to stay... Ollie is the perpetual Batman standin, but I'm okay with that. More Ollie episodes=better chance of GA spinoff which equal total awesomeness to me! lol

  • Not a bad revamp really. Ever so often characters need to be tweeked or reborn to suit the masses. Check out some of the existing characters origins and they just wouldn't swing today.

Im wanting to see how they are going to treat the Warlord of Mars movie?

  • @tilldain5

This origin is pretty acurate to the comics origin... the difference is the lack of drug dealers to be brought down. Everyone here needs to read GA: Year One... seriouslly.

  • green arrow's is so cool

  • whos that girl again?

  • it's tess mercer, lex luthor's sucessor

  • Hahaha, good point about the lack of beard.

And to whoever complains about this being inaccurate to Year One, lol... Year One is innaccurate to the origin from Longbow Hunters! It's comics, just go with it.

  • Nevermind the fact that the Island origin itself was a retcon created by Jack Kirby way back when.

  • @lucread I like this version but it doesn't make up for the fact that they have no access to Bruce Wayne.

    No World's Finest. :(

  • @dragoncat in the 40s he didnt have a beard and didnt grow 1 until 69

  • @dragoncat

Longbow hunters was fleshed out by Wonder Year but was then retconned by GA Annual #7 which was then retconned by Green Arrow: Year One... that said... they all involve an island origin of some type.

  • Green Arrow is used on Smallville as a replacement for Batman, who cannot be used due to copyright on the current films. I think this GA is done very well. Just give him a beard, and put him back in Central City and we're good to go for a live Green Arrow - movie or TV.

  • isnt it star city?

  • Haha yeah. I got confused with the Flash who is from Central Ciity.

  • @SoundMaiden

Yeah it is Star City. But I agree with you they should give Green Arrow a beard.

  • on the island for 2 years? and his teeth are nice and white, no facial hair, and not talking to a wilson ball? what the hell

  • I was thinking the same thing. How did he shave his face? and his hair is still short!

  • The green Arrow is really awesome, I love how much more his character is becoming fully in depth even more now, Ollie has become one of my favorites...

  • @Brilwen Has become?! He should have been you'r favorite from the beginning

  • I like his little hood. :P

  • Ok i dont have a lot of times on my hands so looking through all these spam sites was really inirtating... blackboxshows. com/smallville was the only good one

  • wtf according to year one, this is highly inaccurate!!

  • That's because Smallville is a complete reimagining of the DC mythos.

  • @WhatsLeftwindsor

its called a film adaptation... comics to film are never direct translations... okay... 300 and Sin City were... but they don't count. :p

  • I realize this Ollie doesn't wear the beard normally, but how'd he avoid growing one while shipwrecked?!

  • thanks bro! i went to some green arrow forums and found out all the books i should read they said GA:year one, green arrow/green lantern vol 1&2,long bow hunters, JLA:zero hour-crisis in time, quiver, sounds of violence and archers quest! so i have some buying and reading, searching ahead of me lol

  • i have and own all of batman the animated series, batmany beyond, justice league and now justice league unlimited(which has Green Arrow) and Batman has and always will be my fav but green arrow has become my new fav! anyway, what green arrow graphic novel would be best for me to pick up?? i want to read up on some green arrow! and pardon my ignorance but one of my friends said that GA is kinda like iron man because he has trouble with alcohol is that true??thanks in advance,i cant wait to read GA!

  • Dude, you HAVE to read "Quiver". It's written by Kevin Smith (yup, THAT Kevin Smith) but don't let that put you off (if you don't like Kevin Smith movies). It's a really great story and I highly recommend it.

  • Comment removed

  • this version of green arrow is raw

  • I hate this version of Green Arrow, it's inaccurate......

  • Well, Smallville was never meant to be all that accurate.

Still, Green Arrow basically being this show's Batman makes me feel...meh.

  • @elrapido5150

He was created as a Batman meets Robin Hood character... so why not use him as such?

  • @MrRatchet13 yea

  • @MrRatchet13

I garuantee I' ma bigger GA fan that you... and all I have to say to you with this comment is "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" Grow up... its an adaptation.

  • @lucread GA has been my hero ever since I saw a comic of him in Books a Million <3 I share your passion lol

  • @MrRatchet13 Who cares? Hes badass.

  • Comment removed

  • i love green arow.he's so hot

  • CW is missing a golden opportunity with this guy. Women love the guy because he's handsome and guys like me think he's cool because he kicks ass! Stop messing around CW!

  • i like him a lot but not only because he's hot.he has potential for his own show and i like his story.

  • It would bea dream come true if he got his own show... and with him getting his sidekick (albeit in the form of his second second posing as his first becasue the CW thinks it would be better to have a chick with aids rather than a guy with a drug problem on the show), we'll have even more potential. Of course, I'd much like to see it be more than a GA show, and something along the lines of a Justice League year zero type thing... but yeah... fingers crossed they figure it out.

  • yes, you're right.i would like to a show about justice league
