  • funktion oneeee i want

  • All that kit and still mediocre music.

  • Have to got a "lot" of money for some stuffs like these are, friends. But I gotta thanks for the Native Instruments anyway !

  • He chews his nails xD

  • I literally just lost any and all respect for Underworld.

  • @JIMINIK1 why?

  • @thelegendrubyrodd Because he's lying. Maschine is pretty much garbage. So it's a let down seeing someone I have respected as a performer and musician whoring for Native Instruments. Also, the "laptop musician/dj" idea is and always has been whack. I want to see instruments and vinyl on stage not laptops. That's just so lazy especially at the prices they charge to play live. JUST CARRY SOME KEYBOARDS! I'm not being critical just to be critical. Pushing this idea of laptop musicianship is ugly.

  • @JIMINIK1 there are a lot of acts out there just using laptops but its really no different than someone using vinyl. one just has their music more compact and laptop djs are whack but a lot of the newer laptop djs made the music and the remixes they are playing. i understand your view point but its flawed. take care and have a nice day.

  • @thelegendrubyrodd In my opinion, the end justifies the means, so it doesn't really matter what interface you're using, as long as you're being legit.

  • @thelegendrubyrodd Thank's man. You have a cool day too! :) It's JIMINIK1 writing from my music account.

  • @jms20211 It's JIMINIK1 writing from my music account. Got a vid I want you to check in my uploads entitled "Simplelogic live in LA". It's a proper live rig I used to play out with. Loved carrying my keys & drum machines to gigs. It was a badge of honor and symbol of the commitment I have to electronic music, respect. My instruments are my tools & never cumbersome because I love what I do. I understand more than most about setup and prep, I promise. The laptop is not a proper gigging instrument.

  • @StoneBoySingh Really cool video man. To bad you did not have that much time to play, though I am sure you have gotten more gigs since then. Really glad that you still stick with your gear. My comment was not insult or put down people who still do live EDM without the use of computers. Its more so that I figure there is a better way out there. Technology has come so far, why not take advantage of it. It works great and the results are the same if not better. Richie Hawtin is a great example.

  • I like the Funktion One RES2 in the Studio

  • Is that a Powerbook?

  • mmm skyscraper I love you

  • Wtf !!! Funktion one the studio ??

  • is this machine only for making beats? can you also record vocals into that program?

  • 5:07 in the background you can see the software, which he is working with, ableton live!

  • @95t95t95t No he's using the Maschine software. I thought so at first too. I've seen them live and they use Ableton though.

  • born slippy just made me ejaculate

  • I love that song Everybody Jack, such a cool groove

  • He has so much money he uses a second laptop to hold up his laptop

  • @python270ch no i think thats a lap top cooler for when it gets hot it cools it down.

  • Does anybody know which song is it in the background? Thanks!

  • great guy, I just got Maschine and I'm learning it right now. So far I'm really impressed with it and I really look forward to see what I can do with it when I truly master it

  • How do you perform that grain stretch at 2:07 ???

  • @MarineCobraR it's an internal effect of the Maschine

  • Wicked!!

  • Comment removed

  • 0:23 that man has done so many drugs

  • anyone know what that song is, that one that is playing in the beginning?

  • @zinc4life Born Slippy

  • @HelicalStorm thanks mate :)

  • Who cares. They haven't been all that great since Emerson left :( Sadly. I used to love Underworld. Now when I buy one of their CD's I usually feel ripped off.

  • @wired32312 sadly i have to agree :(

  • Is the Maschine designed to perform in the same sense a launchpad is or is it mainly geared towards production?

  • i wanna use this concept with traktor!

  • 2:40 - sew-eeeeet!!! :D

  • @fuckyouendlessly

you have no idea who underworld is do you, techno legend.

  • Before maschine I would use sequencers and click on the grid for a beat pattern, and it would sound good but lacked something. After maschine I realize what my music was missing, the human touch. Your beats don't have to snap to grid, in fact its better if they don't.. the best feature is 50% quantize you can bring it closer to the grid but not bang on. Also you can compose real time once your sounds are chosen.

  • the track please

  • Hey Underworld,

The demo on this vid is sweet.

We need see this stuff tracked out for us :)

I remember trying to talk girls into dancing to you in the day!hehe

  • Grain Stretch is correct. Didn't even know I could do this with maschine.. So glad I own this BEAST...

  • Good video. I got those new refills. Hit me up.

  • what is the track name?

  • @eklyy I also wanna know...

  • Sick beat!!!!!!!

  • Underwold and Maschine - great!

  • WANT TO KNOW EVERTHING ABOUT SAMPLING ON THE MPC. GO HERE SAMPLINGTIPS.BLOGSPOT.COM

  • FL STUDIO

  • "Jack" is slang for move or dance. The term is used in a number of acid house tracks for example "Jack to the sound of the underground" & "Jack the groove"

  • @lasoo88

i remember jack to the sound of the underground, classic

  • @clandestino669 "Everybody Jack".

  • Does anyone know if they played this track at Ultra (2:25)? Im DYING to hear the full version!!

  • whats is the tracks name 1:42?

whats is the tracklist ? :)

  • I need to get me one of these

  • ...yeah, those guys sell (party)soundtracks for a decade without being boring or looking bored, they´re the longtime companions and I love their music.

  • the mixer is an ff 6000

  • guess there not using 2 909s anymore :(

  • Awesome preview of Maschine!

  • FUCK! Super Hans anyone??

  • @freddodaguitar ahhahahha

  • @freddodaguitar hahaha! big time!

  • i recently got my maschine but havent unboxed it yet cause im saving up for my macbook pro...i would wanna hook up my maschine to a crappy pc!

  • I really luv my Maschine, only wish it has real-time timestretch function and more than 8 Groups of 16; then I can gladly forget about using Ableton. Consider for Maschine 2.0?

The only other products that try to integrate software and hardware are Open Labs and Feeltune Rhizome but they're far too expensive. NI rules!!

  • Hey thanks everyone, I probably got about 10 answers telling me that it's the grain stretch FX ^^

  • I agree with him since the 1.6 update I been able to crank out ideas faster than I did using a DAW.Don't get me wrong, I get busy using Logic Pro, but I just want to create and not get stopped by stupid errors and crashes.

  • I love underworld, I love their style. I do play some music on my iMac and I consider of getting this tool for my home use too! Great instrument!

  • when i saw his set-up, i jizzed and cried a little

  • What's better for a Macbook pro stand than... another Macbook pro!

  • It is a great piece of kit!

  • Anybody know wat song is dat playin dat starts at "0:52"

  • @Sethdiiddy

Born Slippy - Underworld off the trainspotting soundtrack

  • MPO INVITE YOU TO CHECK OUT THE NEW TRANSFORMERS 3 HIP-HOP BEAT CONCEPTION By DIEGO ANTONIO

  • that is a very very cool dance tune. like it.

  • Anyone tell me what mixer he's using?

  • @dalviel I think it is the Pioneer DJM-800.

  • @irod13 Nahh it's not, this one has about 7 channels.. anyone know?

  • @pabloivanrv Who said you have to do anything? As someone who has completely replaced Ableton Live with Machine as a production tool, I can say it's all about the hardware-style, mouseless hands-on workflow. There are plenty of things that Maschine does that Live cannot do. Live for example can't even record realtime automation into session view clips. It also doesn't have an integrated tactile step sequencer with visual feedback. And Live 8 has stability issues.

  • @skizmat Maschine 1.6 still not having time stretching...

  • @kultfigurMusic Don't worry. NI have been working on realtime high quality timestretch. In the meantime, you can already use timestretch plugins inside Maschine.

  • Comment removed

  • @172Break I'm aware of the less than ideal workarounds for Live to record realtime automation. It still doesn't work for Live's native devices and only for third party plugins with their own MIDI learn system. Oh, and Ableton Live is about the least stable DAW as of version 8. It's well documented and even Ableton themselves have admitted to it having serious stability issues.

  • @172Break They don't allow link in comments. Try googling: ableton live 8 stability bugs apologize

  • Good!

  • function 1 club speakers in his studio, hahaha amazing

  • @extacy791 I'm sorry to say, but it's not his studio. His studio is at 0:25. The place with the function 1 speakers is a live situation.

  • I remember watching their live show in the mid to late 90"s on TV. It was amazing. Blew me away! I wish i still had the vhs tape.

  • The music he is playing in the video is sooo nice! :) Insane bass line.

  • whahah a macbook as a stand for another macbook wow

  • @djmstr223 He is probably using it as an external drive. Not so wow, just smart :)

  • Ace!

  • love Darren's under the flightpath record!

  • does this track have a name?

  • @ulonix The song at the beginning of the video is "Born Slippy.Nuxx". The song Darren Price is playing is "Everybody Jack"

  • I love it too... I have to do the update auuugh, but I haven't had the time, I'm gonna freak once I get massive in there...

  • what is the thing under the mac book pro? an second mac book?

  • DAMN! What a studio!

  • Ps The great thing about Maschine is that you can use it as a compositional tool in the studio, then as a performance instrument on stage. I've loved mine since I got one - the month they came out - and have produced hundreds of samples for sample collections with it, plus kickstarted about twenty releases and remixes with it. And used it live. I just hope the AU support doesn't affect the stability. Downloading it now, after I finish installing traktor pro 2, so I'll know soon enough... ;-)

  • Sphereal, what makes you think he's taking pre-recorded stuff? Apart from talking about revisiting his own tracks to update them for the live show he's creating new beats and riffs. How is that not making music? Do you even know what Maschine is? Not being intentionally patronising, but it seems like you either misunderstood what you were watching, or have a prejudice against electronic music?

  • Lol i dont see the point of that thing.

  • awesome!

  • This isn´t really music making. YOu take some pre-recorded stuff and just alter it? psst

  • @Sphereal Not at all. He mentioned chopping up some old tunes to mess about with live but but you can make everything from scratch with Maschine, even more so now 1.6 has VST/AU hosting. If you look closely there's notes and instruments there not samples.

To be honest though Maschine isn't up to scratch to what you think it is. You can sample but there's no timestretch yet. It's a great production tool though, for getting ideas and jamming live

  • @rail0r Built-in timestretch is definitely being worked on but you can already load timestretch plugins in Maschine now. It's definitely "up to scratch" and is the best workflow I've found period, in hardware or software.

  • @skizmat I agree the workflow is excellent but I wouldn't call it up to scratch when it comes to 'taking pre-recorded stuff' which is what I'm responding to. You can use a plugin for timestretch which is cool but it's still a bit of a workaround. Personally I can live without it. Great machine though and NI are supporting it really well. Most of all it's fun and far from a toy - it's all I use :)

  • wow dope!!!

  • He sounds like Super Hans from Peep Show.

  • FULL TRACK?

  • Which mixer he uses under his Maschine?

  • anyone else find it odd that he just stacks this right on top of the console's knobs and shiz?

i wouldnt like to break them knobs!

  • Nice stuff, much better than the dubstep demos from razor

  • Comment removed

  • Bigness >> 1.6 ftw

  • @kb1629 NI mostly shows Techno stuff the company is based in Berlin, Germany where techno is king were have you been ?

  • @bigwev101 Most Maschine demos are Hip Hop Oriented. This is a rare exception.

  • @bigwev101 I agree! I'm from the U.S. & techno is big here in places too. Hip hop is bigger here, so it seems that NI wants to capitalize on the hip hop crowd as well, which makes them more sales. I see nothing wrong with that. I love both, but grew up on hip hop. I'll be getting Maschine soon & more than likely, I'll make hip hop on it, but don't think I won't experminent with other generes too, lol! Techno will be one of them, lol!

  • sick, what effect is he using at the very begining to stretch the voice?

  • @1ino1eum Looks like he might be using a "plugin" effect, but you can do the same kind of effect with the Maschine "Grain Stretch" effect. Turn the master "on" and then stretch it and manipulate other controls for desired sound effects.

  • @1ino1eum The grain stretch. That's been there since 1.5 afaik

  • @1ino1eum the stretch effect lol

  • @1ino1eum It's called grain stretch. 8)

  • @1ino1eum Grain Stretch Probably on Maschine FX

  • @1ino1eum Grain Stretch Probably on Maschine FX

  • @1ino1eum I was wondering about this also. definitely not Grain Delay from Maschine 'couse parameters od screen looks different. propably some AU running on Maschine.

  • @1ino1eum I was wondering about this also. definitely not Grain Stretch from Maschine 'couse parameters on screen looks different. propably some AU running on Maschine.

  • @prms74 Or maybe it's the Maschine Grain Stretch and he is using Macros so the other parameters on screen are from other effects.

  • @1ino1eum hah. feels like i need to know my ma(s)chine better ;) thx

  • @1ino1eum most likely a tight looping on the sample..and he is moving the start and end point with one knob to give the time-stretching 'appearance', keeping the same length of the loop

  • @1ino1eum you could do that in Battery live time stretching and pitch matching to the sample with short reverb time synced with the same knob or some variant of that I believe...

  • @1ino1eum

the beat slicer or something like that

  • the I's have been opened

  • @itLEAKED resident dj evik^^

  • Thanks for this. Great to see other videos than hiphop from time to time.

  • @kb1629 you cant really blame them, house beats are so simple that you wouldnt need a sampler for it
