Thank you SO much for posting this - gosh it is a terrific movie. Eddie Bracken and Bill Demarest are hysterical. Hutton is a bit over the top but is great in this as well. Diana Lynn to Demarest: "CAN'T you be a little more refined?" Demarest tries to kick her in the butt -- does a pratfall. Hysterical. They don't make movies like this anymore.
McGinty and the Boss were from Preston Sturges' film, "The Great McGinty" which was the first film to win the newly created "Best Screenplay" Oscar. Preston Sturges, who felt that directors were not doing his scripts justice told the studio that he would sell them his McGinty script for a dollar as long as he was allowed to direct it.
