This is what happens when the sound goes out:

LaMotta just hangs against the ropes as he is getting destroyed, and then the referee stops it, calls a technical knockout. Then Jake goes up to him and says "Hey Ray, you never got me down. You never got me down, see?" Thats what happens. All the symbolism of the final punch and stuff is up to you.
