well there are 3 divisions of college football. They used to be called division 1, 2, and 3, but they changed the names to something stupid that I don't know off the top of my head. But people really only follow division 1, because those are the biggest schools with the best football talent (You are classified in a certain division based on the number of students that attend your school). In divsion 1 there are multiple conferences with multiple teams.

Some conferences have 12 teams, some have 10, and some have fewer. The big conferences are the Big East, Big Ten, Pac Ten, Big 12, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and the South Eastern Conference (SEC). The conference champions from each of these conferences gets an automatic bid to a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) bowl game. These are the biggest bowl games and receive the most money. Unlike Division 2 and 3, there isn't a playoff in Division 1, just different bowl games that teams can go to.

I can't speak for Miami and FSU but I know OU is gonna be just fine. So much crap has happened to us in the last 2 years, and we still went 8-4 and 11-3, and still considered it a failure.
