The standard shotgun is better in 99% of situations, being able to keep firing instead of reloading is almost like always having crits in damage output :P and you don't have to rely on getting kills, or trying to let your sentry get the last hit, which allows the enemy to get off an extra shot and is an all around bad idea.

I do not agree completely.Wrench can be used for offensive engineering too.You just need to put a nice little sentry in an elevated position,wrangle it,build a dispenser not far from the cart's position,teleporter in a key spot.

Whenever I try to delete this script it magically keeps appearing back in the cfg folder, I've even deleted the entire tf2 folder and it still keeps coming back, any help?

@Glixes The game will always recreate the cfg files it needs in order to run. Those are the pristine cfg files though, not the custom scripts, so you should not delete them.

@WindyPower Not the default ones, its the config file thats not changing. For example when I reset the controls back to default once I die/change classes it resets back to your settings (n for dispencer etc.), it even resets the sound back to full.

@fugar123 You can just delete all the files you've extracted in the tf/cfg folder to delete it, you don't need to redownload it. I'm sorry you didn't like it, but I'm sure the buttons would be pretty easy to get a handle of if you take the time reading the download page.

I just got the Gunslinger last night and started going crazy as an offensive engineer. I have to admit this is one of the best times I have had with this game. With how cheap the sentry is and how quick it gets built, you can be right up front. I pair it up with the FJ and the Widowmaker(when my team has the advantage). Very Very Very fun. I just need to see if I can get my hands on a Wrangler now.

@King1Metal1Steelix yes. you have the ''phone'' (i dont have another name for it) that creates things and the phone that destroys them. when my mini sentrys get low health i destroy them and build them again

For you Config script, I've been having issues. When I first load up, and start a game as engineer, everything's fine. All the buildings are in the correct keybind, etc etc. But later into the game, the keybind for teleporter exit(4) never works, and pops open a sentry instead. And it sometimes stays like that, even if I restart TF2. Do ya know how to fix it?

Another note about the gunslinger not many people know about: your three consecutive hits don't have to be on the same enemy, as long as you hit a player. I've ran up behind two enemies, hit a low-health soldier twice to kill him, then got my third punch as a crit on a spy and one-hit killed him.

First of all, awesome guide! I'm an aspiring Offensive Engineer and was looking for some true protips, and I think your short two video series has helped me with that. Whoo-whee!

Second, as much as I love your config and how everything is set up, I'm just so used to a (mostly) vanilla setup and did well with it before, and don't think I'd like to change it. Lol. But the binding sentry build thing might come in handy, to destroy then rebuild a mini sentry that fast would be nice.

Build a level 1 hidden in a central area and use your pistol/shotgun.

If you are going to try offensive engineering... PLEASE use the normal shotgun and pistol. You will be much more effective that way. Frontier Justice isn't really good with minisentries because they usually do't kill, they just assist. Using wrangler with a minisentry is pointless too. While you are wrangling that minisentry you could have been helping it with your shotgun/pistol.

This is only second to Degreaser Pyro as far as my favorites are concerned. I'm quite satisfied now that Valve has given us an option to play "non-camper."

It's not the best choice for all the maps, but I've done disgustingly well on some maps playing 'slinger Engie (Nucleus jumps to mind).

@jivjov Handling bindings with Shift is pretty tricky. My config makes it easy because it has overridable aliases for this so you would need to take those too (they're in clear.cfg). Otherwise, you can simply bind a key to "destroy 2 0; build 2 0" and that should be fast enough.

I wanted to ask a question too. Is Wrangler really that good when playing offensive, or will the pistol be better/worse? When started playing offensive, I used the Wrangler, but now I use the pistol, but I can't really decide, which one is better.

@wertyuiowerty It depends on the shotgun you use. As I mentioned in another comment, you should use the regular Shotgun instead of the Frontier Justice. And the regular Shotgun gives you enough ammo for most situations, so you shouldn't need the Pistol much.
