I was 24 out of the military, out of Viet Nam and out of my mind.
Ahhh, those were the days!
What I remember is fuzzy but it stood out as special. We drank and partied every night of the week that summer from Asbury Park to Greenwood Lake in NJ from our base in Brooklyn.
In the summer of 69 we flew, top down over the NJ pike in my 63 SS 409 'vert with some buddies down to the Jersey Shore to the Upstage Coffeehouse(beer, booze, acid and pot were available) to hear Bruce and the Steel Mill rock. It was hot and we were under the influence of glory day greatness, though we did not know it at the time, as I said....we were under the influence.
@coastranger Steel Mill? Wow. That's over 40 years ago. Have you been on This Train for the whole ride, or disembark for a while?
I'm envious. I didn't discover him until Darkness in 1978. I sure didn't know at the time that I was in for the ride of my life, nor that ir would last for the rest of my life.
Like most people, I've screwed some things up, but Bruce I got right.
WE LEARNED MORE FROM A 3-MINUTE RECORD BABY THEN WE EVER LEARNED IN SCHOOL...my favorite line ever...it says it all to me, the power of rock and roll!
@KENVAIL Crummy sound, but another brilliant line that makes you realize that there's no one like him. This is why he's Bruce Springsteen and everyone else is not.

@Anna00555
We made a promise then to always remember.
Saw Bruce every chance I got and was never ever less than completely blown away.
Back then, I thought I would never see thirty.
When I was forty they thought I would not see another year. Ha!
Now a senior citizen I would have done it all again...
Maybe turned the volume down a bit so I wouldn't hear guitars in my ears 24/7
