@MrKaramjbara Sony is newer camera, therefore it has some new features which k200D doesn't. However do not expect huge improvement from sony as it is entry level camera. Check out Pentax K-x or K-r, these are small, smart, fast and great cameras
Mmm I love this shutter sound! I'm always the easiest to hear using it when others have Canons, Sonys or so, but this is the Pentax, and this is the K200D. A great camera and that's it. I wouldn't sell it even if I can afford K-5. I would just buy a K-5, too ;)
@Kenttas K200D is loud indeed, that's what I meant. Unfortunately K-5 is a bit too pricy for me. If I could afford K-5 I would buy a DA35/2.4 for K200D and use it as my "any situtation" camera. Anyway, I'd rather choose DA18-135 now, to have at least silent AF ;)
k-m is for for newbies as it has simplified menu. Also it has less focus points, a bit faster continuous shooting ability, smaller grip and image output is more or less the same. But i prefer k200d to k-m
I bought IT! Very well made! I dont know why but I feel the ISO performance too noisy. I come from a K100D and I used iso 800 without problems. In k200d iso 400 is too noisy to me.
At iso 800 and higher noise reduction starts to work. Generally pentax leaves more noise but at the same time it preserves details and that is written in all reviews.
Well I recommend you to shot just in raw mode. The difference between quality and noise amount is like day and the night. Raw gives less noise too and then picture quality shines ,even with kit lens. Just try and stay on raw mode
yes ,shutter is a bit louder than competitors from canon or nikon. but with each generation shutter gets smoother and more silent,so k100d vs k200d = obviously k200d is more silent .
personally i dont mind shutter sound except for taking pictures in silent places (church , etc.)
remember ,that 16-50 has its own focus motor instead of using screw ,so of course it is faster. i tried both k20 and k200 in the same conditions and focus speed was absolutely the same and one time k20 hunted (both with kit lens). the new k-m has improved safox VIII and does focusing a bit faster than k20,k10,k200 etc :) the newer pentax model is launched, the more improved is focus ,no matter it is semi proo or entry level.
Somebody tries somebody has :) K10/20D both have a bit stronger engine than K100D/100Ds/200D/Km due to different layout inside body and different power source. But nothing serious.. all of them are better than IstDs/Dl series :)
Kit lens is nothing special, try FA50 or FA35/2 both are driven by body motor, but they have short focusing screw. Or sigma 17-70 does pretty fast.
On the other hand, my 55-300 is slightly slower and noisy :) But nobody needs to change focus quickly from infinity to close range in real situation. All those people arguing about AF speed are funny.. mostly with no camera :))
K-m is nice, hoya should put that samsung chip inside, add video and it woudl be bestseller in entry level area :)
surely, istDs is not the fastest camera in the world :) well i am thinking about pentax limited series. most of them are really well appreciated and MTF graphs shows really good resoliution particulary stopping down at f/5.6 :) so i plan to buy one (at least i hope) :)
It is not poor it is a bit slower (but depends on what lens you use-new SDM lenses are as fast as competitors). Still there is no back no front focus everything goes smoothly and accurately though a bit slower :)
is the sony a290 better than this camera?

@Kpiotr this one is bit too loud. Love the K-5 sound which makes Canikons sound laike boombastic instead of silent proper photographers tool.
K200D otherwise is a great camera. It never let me down, works well now pared with sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM

What about the AF speed compairing with k100d and k10d?
maxus15 2 years ago
k10d is a bit faster though it is almost impossible to feel the difference

FA50/1.4 on K20D does better and DA16-50/2.8 SDM is like flash :)
