Do it on blackra1n cuz redsn0w fails miserably. I have blackra1n on my itouch and it works fine. Don't use redsn0w. and to benjimarshall91 you can only do that with redsn0w, which I definitely would not do. Just wait for blackra1n to come up with a new jailbreak for 3.1.3

hi,

i'm having issues.

after i created the custom ipsw and put my ipod in recovery mode, and attempt to restore it with the new custom ipsw, a window comes up that says 'extracting software', then the window changes and says, "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1600).'

what am i doing wrong?

followed your instructions.  Thanks! Mainly interested in unlocking and I still haven't managed to perform a complete Unlock & Jailbreak. iPhone 2G originally activated with AT&T (gophone - therefore not international) in US. Now in Italy and using TIM sim. With AT&T sim the iPhone works as normal & have no service while with Italian sim the cell service works but the iPhone asks to connect to iTunes ...

Do I need to downgrade from 3.1.2 to a lower firmware?

After that I install Cydia then I install Rock then unlock )after that when I turn off my iPhone and turn back ON every time I get iTunes cable on my iPhone then I have to restore the firmware to every think back on

thats because, if im not mistaken, blackra1n is a "teatherd" jailbreak which means everytime you turn off your iphone you hve to rejailbreak it.

hey, i download that .ipsw but it doesnt automatically pick it. so when i go to find it, it tells me that it is the wrong firmware bundle. any suggestions? i have updated to 3.1.2 and im running an iPhone 3G

Untethered. The only tethered jailbreak is for the iPod Touch 3G.

There is a point where I'm getting stuck. After creating the Custom Restore file, I attempted to put my iPod Touch in DFU mode. For some reason, PwnageTool won't recognize that my iPod is connected to the USB, although iTunes recognizes that it is. Any advice on how to over come this issue?

so do you download the firmware if you are not yet upgraded to 3.1.2? or do you a;ready have to be upgraded to that firmware before you do any of this downloading??
