its fantastic im from peru but i live in montreal....everybody have to know that...because is soo peacefull and u can pray alone with jesus...and u will get a great experience!!!! I recommend it
know the place by heart... my parents would bring us there at least two times a year... I became protestant in the mean time... but that would be a long story !
You're welcome, Betty! It's worth more of a visit than the one I gave it. Someday I'll go back if I'm ever in Montreal and inclined to go to church...
I went there at least twice, getting directions was fun- they had a very deadpan sense of humor in Montreal, folks kept telling us straight faced, "Well, it's the sort of large church and it's on a bit of a hill... you can't miss it..." then they would laugh. I went up the steps at least twice the way you are supposed to, that should count for some forgiveness I hope.
That's right, but I had heard you were blessed in general, so I thought that was a small price to pay- I was a lot younger at the time though, now I don't know...
I once went into a Catholic monastery in Switzerland that was an amazing structure. The inside was festooned with various Madonna images and statues, and dripping in gold from the rafters down, whilst a choir sang softly from a mezzanine floor above.
Momentarily, I *almost* felt like I was missing out on something, being an atheist. Then I snapped back to reality, and thought nahhh, it's still all nonsense... just expensive nonsense!
LOL It's called "brainwashing." I don't believe in a god either, but I do believe that there are forces of nature out there that we don't quite understand yet...
I only wish that I could have spent more time there so that I would have got some video from inside, but we had been going all day and were getting hungry and tired, and this was a convenient and short stop on the way back to my mother's house...

We drove by the place, but didn't go in just last summer.

I should have gone in but the ladies were complaining about being tired and hungry, and having sore feet...

Interesting place! And quite beautiful! :-)

It's too bad the weather was overcast on that day. Last summer was not the nicest one back east...

I went to the Wikipedia site to learn a little more too. Thanks for opening up my world a bit wider Andy. :)

I heard you're supposed to kneel and pray on each step on your way up the hill. If you did, you should be cured of being crippled...

Cemetery and seminary ... yes, there is a difference. But I think Brother André had it all sorted out back then.
Beautiful structure and premises, indeed. Makes you look in somewhat awe, no matter if Christian or not.

I slipped when I said "cemetery," but I can forgive myself because we did visit a cemetery earlier that day...
Brother Andre had some kind of power. I'm not sure if he was eventually declared a saint or not. I gave up Catholicism when I was a teenager...

Just did some research on Brother André. I'll send you something on him, his life and works, in a minute.
