I got my braces taken off last year .. in may but anyway... they didnt put that brace in at the back of my teeth.... and some of my teeth are going crucked again .. is that bad? Should i call my ortho and tell them ?

@justforcraftsx If you have retainers you should be wearing them everynight. You should call your orthodontist so that they can check what is happening for you. Not all orthodontists place a wire (bonded retainer) behind the front teeth, there are pros and cons to each way.

No people braces dont hurt, when they are putting them on your teeth, although i MUST say after a couple hours with them on, you'll want to dieeee :) hahah its hurts like a bxtch ! &when you go to your monthly checkup and they tighten them, that hurts as well. Your gums stay sore for a couple days haha but i love having braces :B

@sweetyangelissocool For just braces, there is no change. If you get an additional applinace like an expander, it takes a little while to train yourself.

@Mileyfan4164 Treatment time depends on many factors some of the most important is not having broken brackets, cooperation with instructions like wearing rubber bands. There are also some things that cannot be predicted in advance always. Make sure in addition to asking how much longer you will have braces, ask what can you do to help get your treatment completed on time. And follow thru with your commitment.

@myheartisstone Don't be worried about the check retractor. It is mostly to hold your lips and cheeks away from your teeth while the braces are placed. There is a part that holds your tongue back and suck up any saliva. All of our patients do fine. We even have some patients that fall asleep.

@Y5x Whether or not teeth need to be removed or extracted depends on your specific case. Most orthodontists find that about 20-30% of patients need teeth removed for various reasons. Not always crowding. The best way to find out what is best for you is to get a consultation with an Orthodontist.

@iMagiikzzHD They are just trying to freak you out a bit. Thats what friends are for. It actually does not hurt at all getting them put on. But as your teeth start to move several hours after the wire is placed your teeth become sore and it is tender when you try to eat. This will last from 2-5 days depending on your teeth.

@NicksbbygirlForever OF COURSE. It actually makes it easier. There is sucktion attached the suckes out any saliva and it help you keep your mouth open with out straining your jaw. I've actually had several patients fall asleep while we were putting on their braces because they were so relaxed.

@Whotookmytaco11 Not everyone needs teeth to be removed. It really depends on your specific case. Make sure you see an orthodontist for an evaluation. They are usually FREE, then you will know what you need and have no reason to be afraid.

@mrplatypusman007 It does not hurt to get them on. But usually several hrs after the wire is placed your teeth are sore. The amount varies from patient to patient and the type of braces and size of wire placed. If you take an OTC pain med like advil ot tylenol before your braces are placed it won't be that bad. Don't let your friends scare you. They all managed thru it.

@Mileyfan4164 I'm not sure I totally understand your question. If you had some treatment at age 8, it was probably only for a few specific problems. What we do in our office is we follow our patients every six months until you are ready for full orthodontic treatment, especially when some treatment was done early. If you are not sure, make an appointment to see your orthodontist.

@welcometomylife12 Watch the 3 video's in this series, The total time in my office for this procedure in about 45min, and actually putting on the braces takes about 15-20min. If you relax it will be no problem. I've even had a few patients fall asleep while I was putting on there braces. Don't let your friend freek you out, it will be no problem.

@Raqibooboo You only need "spacers" or sepatators if you are getting bands placed on your back teeth. The spacers push your teeth apart a bit so the bands can be fitted around your molars. In my office we do not use bands unless we are making an appliance for a patient like an expander. so most of my patients do not get separators.

@IceyLemonade That's alot of questions: The cheek retractor should not hurt. Your teeth will usually become sore a few hours after the wires are placed and this soreness lasts 2-4 days. It usually takes 30-60min to put on the braces.

@milkyw3 You do not feel anything when you get the braces put on. No Injections for that. Your teeth will feel sore a few hours after the wire is put between your braces because your teeth have started to move.

@niss519 Orthodontist's have 2-3 years of extra specialized training in this area they are much more qualified to let you know what will be needed for you.

Remember that if you feel that you have a need to improve your smile and teeth you will beifit from braces. See the most qualified profesionals  for the best results.

No it does not hurt getting them on. Your teeth become sore and tender several hours later so take some tylenol or advil if you can right after you get your braces on, before it starts to hurt. This will reduce any discomfort.

The cheek retractor can actully reduce your tendency to gag because is suckes the saliva out of your mouth keeping it dry. With less saliva (spit) in your mouth your gag reflex is lower.

The glue we use is very sensitive to saliva and will not stick it the teeth get wet.

The whole device is called an Enola Retractor. The part on the tonge holds your tongue away from your teeth and helps keep everything dry. Braces wont stick to the teeth if they get wet.

I've had patients fall asleep with this in their mouth while I was putting on their braces.

Bands are metal rings that are fitted around your teeth. They have a brace welded on the band. Band are cemented on the tooth. The braces are just glued (bonded) directly to the teeth. Some docs feel band stay on better at the back molars.

In my office we generally bond the braces directly to the teeth for the back molars.

no, it just keeps it open. it doesnt hurt when u put braces on, only a little, and its anoying and tasts bad. it starts to hurt and give u head-aches after a few hours for abt a week (tylonol will help)

In our office the braces have little clips that hold the wire in the braces. Some other types of braces use the color ties to hold the wire in your braces.
