You mention that some people don't want to see character creation, and this is true, I didn't want to, so I just skipped right over a few parts to the meat of the game. There's over 100 parts now, and he's still getting requests for Fallout footage.

Some games I really enjoy have very limited options - some games don't have my native resolution, some don't have as extensive key mappings. It's nice when these things are laid out for you, no workarounds needed.

It's just my opinion on what he could improve. If he were to take my advice, he'd stop doing all the things I complained about in this video. Some people will like a video no matter how it's done, and everyone's going to have different ideas on what's entertaining.

Just my thoughts and if people wish to learn from them, then good for them.

PS: I still say doing a completely open-ended game blindly will be horrible if you don't cut out your random wandering around for a half hour. :P

Not to defend him here, (as he already saw the video and is perfectly okay with it) but some of your critique I have to disagree with. When Brett (Armageddon's real name) LPs, he does it blindly. Mostly. He goes through the game and figures out things along the way, and in games I myself have played before, when I'm seeing him do something wrong, I find myself trying to tell him what to do half the time. It's entertaining watching his reactions. He doesn't do things in the sense most LPers do.

That's part of the reason I chose this one. It's not just this LP, all his LPs are just not good. It's either poor commentary, or just horrible choice in games (or in this case, playing a very open ended and complicated RPG with no knowledge of what you're doing).

There are several valid explanations for men playing female characters:

1. Most video game designers are men and it shows. Female models might not be always anatomically correct and they are often stripperific but there is usually more work involved then in grizzled space marine #3292390

2. In most RPGs you have the characters rear in the screen all the time.

3. It's role playing.

Those guys on mmorpgs playing females and wanting cyber all the time on the other hand ... yes, that's fucked up.

I know what role playing is, I just never got into trying to role play a woman. I think it's because I just can't characterize and role play a woman that well. Typically I like to role play something I can at least identify with or displays an aspect of my personality (albeit distorted and magnified).

I figured as much after your VtM intro - a LP well done btw. It really depends on the player how far he can remove himself from his own personality. I play female characters but draw the line when it comes to romance situations because there is nothing about a guy I find remotely sexy.

Good thing if you can draw the line, bad thing if you end up with yet another lesbian with the personality of a teenage boy. The really disturbing ones however are fortunately few or just trolling.

I was making fun of the fact he was having a spazz attack about binding keys. That's not a new thing. It seemed a bit odd he thought it was an incredible feature.

And in Fallout 3, you don't actually look at your character ever, so picking male/female only really matters for socializing with characters. I just wonder about people who want to play a whole game having male NPCs hitting on them and propositioning sex. (It was for comedy)

I seem to be on the same page with you often, but you do get to look at your character often in Fallout 3. There's 3rd person view, there's ways to move the camera to face yourself (which at times is the way I save the games so it has a nice picture on the load screen), and especially a lot of times when you use the VATS in the game it goes to face shots of your character shooting their rifle or gun.

Aside from that, great work on the video DC.

If I can teach new comers to the LP business what will make their video suck, then I have accomplished what I set out to do.
