The fact that an elected official can be this ignorant is entirely unacceptable. Everyone gets facts confused at some point or another and that's understandable but the amount of gross error in her statements is completely absurd. People who vote for and sustain the viability of these sort of politicians DESERVE the financial struggles that this country is undergoing. There weren't many African slaves in America when it was in its beginning as a British colony. The poor were brought over from England as indentured servants. They had to work for someone for a set number of years before they earned freedom. It wasn't until a few decades later when technology improved and we were capable of producing so many more cash crops that a demand for cheap labor arose, hence slavery. But from the beginning, there was never universal equality here, and there still isn't.
