awesom info! apart from the fact it wasnt the first enterprise to have an emergancy medical hologram, enterprise D also had one, as said in star treck nemesiss, but it never appeared because beverly cruser sais in nemesiss that she swore she would never use one when she need it to but time for them to escape the borg :/

And Crusher's admission swearing that she would never use one made no allusions to Enterprise D. Seems more like she was referring to her assigned ship at that moment, the E.

Great review! The speckly bits on the top are supposed to be an "Aztec" paint design to show off the individual panels on the hull when the light hits it at an angle. The Bandai model did it a bit better b/c it was more subtle and used a sort of reflective paint. Love this one though. Few things beat a Patrick Stewart voice chip!

You can actually see the captain's yacht detach in Star Trek Insurrection.. Excellent review by the way! I have this Ent-E as well as the other Enterprise's released from Art Asylum.. Its a nice looking ship but too bad the nacelles don't light up and the many windows on the hull aren't painted like the Art Asylum Ent-D..

lol, holy crap, i had the playmates Ent-E aswell, and i was like wht the shit??? it was overconfidently released by the time when no one had any idea of how the actual sovereign class in the movie would look like.. leter they tried a desperte attempt to make some changes in the nacelles appearance by releasing the new insurrection version.. lol, what an epic fail xD

The Art asylum is a real happiness to the eyes.. too bad the lightings dont actually "remain" lit!

Did they really add more decks to the ship? I always thought that they kept forgetting how many decks the ship was supposed to have. E.G Picard tells Lilly in first contact that the ship has 24 decks only to later hear random security officer later tell us that the Borg control decks 26 - 11. Then in Nemesis, the ship apparently has 29 decks yet hasnt increased in size, and we later see Riker throw a Remun into a bottomless pit...

Great model though, i have the battle damaged version!

No, they didn't add more decks. That's not even possible when you've engineered the hull to be a certain size. Adding decks would involve a complete redesign.

The writers didn't know what they were talking about in those films and didn't bother to check. I mean, why the hell was there a bottomless pit on deck 29 in Nemesis?

Lol! Im glad someone finally read my post - i was beginning to think i was the only one who had spotted these issues. Especially since people are now saying that there was a sovereign mk 2 which included the new decks despite the fact that the ship obviously hasnt increased in size no is it mentioned in the films.

That's just fans trying to fix the mistakes the writers created by not doing their homework. I mean, go to frickin Wikipedia or google Enterprise-E and you'll learn how many decks the ship has.

All this nonsense with an Ent-E refit and added decks is total bullshit. Adding decks means pushing out the hull which totally changes the entire design. You don't see a Boeing 747 suddenly get another deck. The engines and everything else weren't designed for that. It wouldn't be balanced.

Of course it is. But within the fiction that was created, it makes sense to maintain some order. That's what keeps the fictional world 'believable'.

Would it make sense if all light sabres were suddenly yellow in a new Star Wars film? No. Would it be cool if the ring was suddenly silver in Return of the King? No.

Even within fiction there needs to be continuity with what was written before. Otherwise it become unreliable.

Actually, the FC version of the Enterprise was an actual late concept, and I believe that's the ship that's shown on a few of the on board monitors. Art Asylum still kicked Playmates' ass though LOL!!!!

A few forum posters have mentioned flaws in the paint job or stand, including difficulty getting the ship on and off. There is a video mentioning that some portions of the ship are not painted, namely one of the escape pods. I don't care about bad lighting, but I don't want to spend my money (as a college student, I treasure it) on something that some people have marked as potentially defective. If I may ask, what exactly is the difference between the battle damaged and undamaged version anyway?

since i don't play with my ships or anything...i haven't noticed any fading whatsoever. Nor have i heard about this as a flaw with the ships. So i'm not sure. As far as which version to get...i prefer the nonbattle damanged ones....they're nicer to display

i dont know about faded paint, but i have the art asylum e, and on mine, there is no detailed painting on almost the whole underbelly of the ship (basically no windows). however, there is still SOME paint, just not as detailed as the top of the saucer. If you really want a good version, get the bandai one. You will be amazed at the details and lighting on it-everything lights up so it looks like it does in the movie. it took me 3 hrs to build when i was 14 lol (its an electrical model kit)

you're right on the underside...it's lacking some of the details but still looks ok. The bandei one is nice, if you wanna pay about 4 times the price of the art asylum version. If AA's version was that price i'm sure it would have the same detail and such as well. But the bandei ones are nice...i've been trying for the longest time to find a bandei version of voyager, but at almost 300 bucks...i'll pass easily

But they art asylum one is a GREAT deal, especially compared to the shit playmates one. It has the correct proportions and some detail like the bandai one, and the durability and lack of required construction of the playmate one

How are you finding bandai kits for 300........theres a hobby shop where I live in NYC that sells/sold them for 30-50 for bandai ones (this was 4 years ago)

yea i got that one too, back when i was a like 5 lol. The art asylum one i got a few years ago is much better, and you should get it if you can find it at a good price. It's durable and it has correct proportions and decent amount of details, unlike that playmates one

If you turn on your Google earth and zoom in to Luxor and Bellagio in one view, you see how everything looks SPecKLY at that hight and that roughly how long it is.

I live in Vegas and almost picked up this model at the Hilton.. The Speckly Look on the top is there because the Ship is HUGE those are just different compartment of the ship. I looked up the acctual Size, If you Walked from LUXOR all the way to Beliagio thats how big the ship is :)

The playmates Enterprise E was produced based on the designs from Paramount and went into production before the designs for the on-screen version of the ship had been finalised. The studio ended up changing the design of the ship used in First Contact which is why the toy looks quite different from what you see in the movie. The playmates Insurrection Enterprise is a lot more accurate.

I love the AA stuff as well, I've got quite a few myself. I still prefer the playmates toys though. They have a simple, quaint old school style charm to them.

Im just waiting for AA to pull thier fingure out a release a model of Voyager.

They kinda messed up on this one the detail and sounds are nice but the lighting and paint job was pretty bad especially around the pylons and nacelles but overall it's a really nice ship.

I cannot tell you how many star trek fans would complain about star trek transformers. Still, I'd probably be sad, and this is mainly because 15 dollars for a star wars transformer that did not pass the quality test.

People are still complaining about the new movie. Star Trek may be serious sometimes, and it is about human stories, but mainly, it is a B.I.F.

and note that the design of the playmates version from FC was shown in a shield diagram in nemesis... the wrong (early) design made it to an lcars screen... which is one of the reasons why nemesis was such a bad movie.
