Isn't it crazy how quickly people believed the media? The media printed Mignini lies like they were facts. It was a witch hunt. It's crazy that this could happen in our day and age. I hope Amanda can recover from this.
I'm just glad she AT LEAST stayed 4 years in prison for diffamation. Now she's out. Good for her. And I would thank italian judges for letting her out since they hadn't any real evidence against her. But I can't stop thinking she completely disrespected the justice. A bunch of lies, diffamation, falsities... That's simply not clear enough for me. I don't like her. Nor do I like the other angel faced blonde turd with whom she was back then in Italy.
@Goldie4tv So you know better than the court that acquitted her. Has it occured to you that if she had clearly killed her it would have been much easier for the court not to acquit her.
Welcome Home Amanda!!! It's been long overdue. But at last, it is your time to do all of those things you dreamed about doing over the past 4 long years, but couldn't. I hope the time you spend with your family & friends making up for the past 4 years is everything you hoped & dreamed it would someday be. Well, that someday is today! Congratulations to you, Amanda! And to all of her family, friends, & supporters who tirelessly fought to bring her home.
One thing has to be made clear. The Forensic Police botched up the evidence. This is why there is insufficient proof. (Although there is circumstantial evidence which the Italian criminal justice system places more weight on the e.g. the UK one). Had the Forensic Police not botched up, the sentence *could* have been different.
I think that Amanda and Sollecito are guilties and all of you repeat the fairy tale that American TV shows you and what you want, not the Truth! Nobody thinks about the real victim, Meredith!
Some of these comments show what a farce courts and justice systems can be anyway has far as what people believe. People believe what they want to. The same people who were praising the Italian courts for convicting her and thought that was so smart, now suddenly the that same courts is wrong?
MY family and I are thrilled that you are free to return home to the USA. I sent letters to Italy and know that others did the same. The "evidence" was such a messed up job. Welcome HOME.
IF SHE WAS REALLY INNOCENT WHY DID THEY OR SHE NOT ASK TO TAKE A LIE DETECTOR TEST???????????? IF SHE REALLY WONT TO GET THIS RIGHT SO PEOPLE WILL NOT ACCUSE HER SHE STILL MAY TAKE IT TO PROOF HER INNOCENCE,, IF NOT! THEN SHE WAS INVOLVED, THERE WAS EVIDENCE BUT MONEY CAN BUY YOU OUT.BUT IF SHE WAS INVOLVED! HER CONSCIENCE WILL NEVER LET HER BE THE PERSON SHE WAS.
The comments made by the people who thought that Amanda Knox was guilty were often very similar.
They were based on emotions rather than concrete facts (since there really are none that point to her guilt), they very often seemed to be short and devoid of substance or merit, written by low class and uneducated individuals
("diz biatch is guilty phuqin whorrr," "I just watched the movie and let me say: Knoxy did that shit, y'all.") Indeed...the rabble is already gathering to watch a lynching.
@chrupley NO facts. Did you see the trial at all. There was so many facts that there could only be one outcome that they were guilty. Your post shows that you are a snob and that just because people do not spell to your exact specifications then that means that they are low class or uneducated. So instead why not answer somebody that might not have a high education but knows what he wants to say and is not afraid to say it and will also win the argument any day of the week and twice on sunday.
They left a key piece of evidence at the scene for almost six days. Knox's interrogation was not recorded which was also suspect. Mignini also said the satanic sex romp was drug fueled but as far as I have heard Knox and Sollecito were only using weed which would induce them to kill a couple of hours, and brownies. Yes I am a snob and proud to be one. I am always a champion of erudite, respectful and enlightening conversation. My issue was not about spelling, but their choice of words :D
@13579lazlo No motive: Mignini didn't have a motive so he used the same one he had used in the past (Monster of Florence) and when a novelist was asking too many questions he tried to connect him to the case (Doug Preston). Mignini is still under investigation for his conduct during that case. The forensic evidence was questionable from the start since the local police failed to cordon off the crime scene letting all kinds of unnecessary people tramp through.
To me this case needs to be put to rest, this girl did not commit any crime much less done anything wrong. She went to Italy to gain an education and look what happens because procurers want to make a name for them, they should be the ones in jail. Just goes to show you how Americans are treated in other countries.
Guilty. LIar, cheat, smoking pot, setting up her boss, lying about the night of the murder. Who else would kill Kircher? What is their motive? AMando Knox is guilty. Have you read her lies and ever-changing alibis??
i have no idea what went on that and nor does anybody else on here, but to the people who keep saying "America should step in". America cannot do anything, if you are resident in a foreign country then you are under their laws and there systems. With your logic then Iraq should be able to demand their prisoners back from America as they can argue that America is anti Iraq etc.
And to the people saying they are Anti-American, well 3 people where convicted only 1 was an American
Fuck Perugia and their corrupt/inept criminal justice system. The US State Department should demand her release immediately. Douchebag Italian Fuckers! Let this girl go!
I have 2 nieces, one 12 and one 3 and a half,I see their faces in this poor girl,it makes me sick, there is no WAY that kid is capable of murder...frankly I think it is terrible that our(US) government doesn't step in here...IMO this is a human rights violation...at the very least our government should get involved at least with evidence processing UGH! Regardless I know politics can get in the way and it makes me physically ill t o see this girl in jail, her and her parents tortured. Disgusting.
This whole thing is a travesty. The Italian government would do well to reign in their Mussolini like prosecutor and give their nation some semblance of democracy by letting this girl free. They were trying to paint her as promiscuous bc she used the nick "Foxyknoxy" or whatever, meanwhile it was a nick her soccer team called her when she was 8 years old. This is such a disgusting miscarriage of justice, why doesn't out government step in and save this poor girl?
But it DID happen in Italy. Stop comparing it to what "would have happened" in the US. It is a moot point. Stop insulting other countries just because they are not like yours (different does not mean less than).
@jewel7677 It did happen in Italy, but there was a very heavy anti-American and anti-Amanda Knox bias in the trial and in the media coverage of the trial. In this instance, the difference between what happened in Italy and what would have happened in the US does, indeed, mean that Italy really dropped the ball on this one.
I haven't seen the movie but I am convinced of Amanda's innocence. It's a shame that someone with no scruples in a position of power can spoil so many peoples' lives on a whim. The Italian prosecutor ought to be ashamed of himself.
I did not like the movie , it was un aswered just like her trail probaly was. I dont agree with people getting away with murder. However I dont think she did it or had a fair trail.
I seen people with more evidence get set free. So its some killer running free somewhere because they wanted to close a case.
Dear American friends, from everything I read here it is clear that some of you are convinced to be the best in everything and that your lifestyle and your justice in this case are indisputably without fail.
Some of you might explain why in 2001 in a civilized country like yours there is still the death penalty?
@pinasca Italy has a backward justice system. That being said, if a person has murdered someone in
America, they deserve to be executed. We give them attorneys if they can't afford one, and many times the guilty go free, or get less time in prison than they should. It isn't that often that the death penalty is actually carried out. I for one support it. Some people should be put away for life or executed.
@pinasca Because of the way Italy carries out its trials, Amanda Knox did NOT get a fair trial. Also she was not proven guilty. The evidence did not even show she was. I wholeheartedly believe she is innocent. I will rejoice with her supporters when she is set free, so she can leave that despicable country where framing college kids for murder is no big deal.
After watching the Lifetime movie I feel compelled to act, I don’t understand how the American people can think of Amanda in any other way than innocent. A young girl is sentenced to 26 years with evidence that would never fly in America. I know that Amanda’s family would like for the Lifetime special to be removed, I however think this is great.
She's innocent along with her ex, the movie tried to make them look guilty, but it did a better job of showing how many mistakes were really made by the Italian authorities. No evidence, just mearly a sick story they came up with, and now her life has been ruined by it.
she didnt do it, they just want to blame someone. the easiest person to blame was amanda in how she behaved, and even more that she was american. we know how much the europeans dont like american.
@snoopyx2013 _ Io non so se Amanda è innocente o colpevole (spero che la verità verrà a galla), ma non è vero che a noi Italiani non piacciono gli Americani, siamo sempre stati dalla vostra parte in tutto e per tutto. "we know how much the europeans dont like american" ? Questa frase è molto ingiusta da parte tua, riflettici sopra.
@snoopyx2013 you are ridiculous in blaming the questionable reputation of american government (not people, remember!).there is anti-americanism just as there is still anti-germanism for example.it is silly and naive to connect the case to other personal, national, patriotic, whatever, frustrations.did you already forget that italian sollecito was also sentenced?!middle europes legal system is definitely a profound system of which your death-sentence-poisoned justice could only take a leaf out of.
I watched the movie and was convinced Amanda was involved. I then watched the hour long show following the movie and have to say, Amanda needs to be set free. There is only one question that needs to be asked: Where is the physical evidence linking her to the crime? There isn't any!!
i believe amanda is innocent, if this trial was in the US im positive amanda would have been innocent. this trial was bias and poor/rushed job from the perugia police.
I thought America was suppose to stand up for its people. "We the People, by the People.." Why does the American government ignore their own people? What if Amanda Knox is really innocent, what if they really pressed her, slapped her around.. What happens if you go out of the country and you get slapped with some ridiculous charge? Don't rely on your government to help you, Americans.
Sure what if she is innocent... what if she is guilty? as far as the "abuse" goes, police outside of the united states don't play. 'By any means necessary', they aren't going to play "nice" to find murderers.
compensation demanded!? I am a UW student and this wrongful verdict should not and will not be tolerated, especially to one of my husky fellows!
