  • Oh! Velvet + Bowie : Perfect Life

  • DL the audio from this track at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • Bowie is the man!

  • Don't know why but I hate when this song is sang waiting for THE man instead of waiting for MY man. Not in a gay way, but it makes it impersonal when saying he's my man, like my main man, that's what makes the song really. THE man is the government, my man is my buddy.

  • Brilliant. Simple really.

  • The song needs more of this: 5:29

  • @c8udyp good one!

  • if only he released a studio version....

  • George Harrison on lead guitar?

  • Just by the sound of this I'd say that Bowie's pimped version is about coke and Lou's original is all about heroin...which actually makes a lot of sense autobiographically for both artists. I'd give more props to the original of course but I do love both versions a lot !

  • lol who's the bad ass tele player?

  • @worldofbong Stacey Heydon

  • if people think hes a good dancer here....has anyone seen 'stay' on the dinah shore show?

  • Even though this is a rehearsal, it's a performance like this that makes me love Bowie's Thin White Duke persona. He's cooler than cool in this video!

  • @PockyBebop .....I saw the THIN WHITE DUKE tour in Los Angeles....it was my second concert ever and man, was I loaded....I went with my old babysitter and her corrupt friends....I was thinking naughty thoughts all night while spinning

  • Bowie is amazing, I dont thing to many people realize what a pioneer he is. The questions is always.. 'Stones or Beatles?'..I say 'Bowie!' I love his lyrics, his persona, his charisma.. trully one of a kind..

  • Love the Thin White Duke Bowie period, he started a whole new look in Rock & Roll, instead of blue jeans & long hair, he looked like someone from the 40's.

  • haha while lou reed is waiting for some heroin david bowie is waiting for some blue diamond dust!!

  • If by that you mean cocaine then yes.

  • yeah thats what I mean

  • This is a fuckin' brilliant version, you yobs! Get loose, wait for the fuckin' build n' rev up for the incredible solo at the end!

  • Of course this is not AS GOOD as the Velvets' original version . . . but at least he comes up with a totally different arrangement, which I think works pretty well. Genius!

  • This funks like nothing else-Bowie comes up with yet another incredible interpretation-Haydon on guitar is the icing on the the funkcake.

  • I intend to steal your expression "icing on the funkcake" as soon as I find an appropriate situation. I hope you don't mind. :-)

  • you cheeky monkey!

  • So much coke.......

    Such a great song tho!!!

Anyone know where u get this bootleg or mp3 or wateva it is??

    xxxx

  • Such a great funky version. :-) Lovely guitarsolo.

  • The MAN absolutely NAILS it!!

  • before the solo, -"walk me home". FEELS IT

Get old Bowie! This dimention want's you here!

  • both great ones. But, don't think LR was too happy with the "commercial" direction DB went.

The two of them are still on my top 5.

    KUDOS

  • i don't "get" david bowie.

  • this is song of the velvet underground

  • lou reed

  • Fantastic Bowie, great! great! great !...

  • this is the shit.....Bowie is just great here.....

  • David Bowie=Genuis......

  • this is one fucking good song the way Bowie is doing it.Totally smashing....

  • I think Crazytree has a good point. Bowie using the artificial way to convert his performance but he's quite good at making it look effortlessly. It's because he's a big coker and he is cool out there.

  • yes but Bowie a little later also helped Lou reeds career out cos he wasn't doing so well.

  • hey, this is groovy! good version of the song, equal to the original,i would say..preety good

  • I like the guitarr-conversation at 3.28-4.00!

  • my last comment was to crazy tree just so everyone doesn't think I was calling David a wanker!! cos I WASN'T!

  • Sorry, pagey29! I didnt mean that. I totally agree with YOU that this crazytree is a wanker, ok? ;-)

    (get off, crazytree!)

  • Sorry, pagey29! I didnt mean that, ok? And YES, this crazytree is a wanker :-)

    (get off, crazytree!)

  • So I take it you are one of the few people that doesn't think Bowie is one of the most seminal artists ever to grace the earth..

  • Your skill of categorization is just on very low level.

Reality is not only white and black.

    They've just tooking other drugs.

Reed was heroinist, Bowie was cocainist.

It very sad for me in every case, because they are a greats.

  • you're a wanker bowie wrote this to help Lou reed out because lou reed wasn't doing so well.

  • Totally agree, this guy simply doesnt know what he's talking about... :-( (wrong number man!)

  • Lou Reed wrote this with John Cale years before he met Bowie.

Bowie was an early fan of the Velvet Underground.

  • Get off!

  • @crazytree it's an hommage! you should UNDERSTAND bowie, you're not young anymore if you listen to lou.

you miss something if you don't get this.

  • @crazytree yes we all know about the cocaine problems in the mid-70's w/ bowie, but on stage, he wasn't ever coked up.

  • I love these rehearsal vids, Isabelabar! rehearsals are great, it's like we were there with them enjoying some sort of intimate thing. Thanks for posting!

  • I love the thin white duke the most out of all his alter ego's- he's dark sexy and seductive....well David is anyway but The Duke is even more! : D

  • My favorite Bowie persona is Ziggy--delicious allien :-) But The Duke is dark and sexy, reaaly :-P

I'v sent you an invitation to be my friend here :-)

  • Amazing. This man is my God.

  • awesome
