I was at this game. It was the last time we would play Florida as a permanent yearly opponent. We didn't play them in auburn again until 2006 and were the only team to beat them that year. I miss our rivalry with Florida.

I sat at the bar at Dave & Buster's in Nashville and watched this game...I was at TSU's homecoming...never forget it.

Damon Duval had a chance to kick the game winning field goal against Florida the very next year too, but kicked a 23-yarder right into the line and it got blocked with 25 seconds left. Florida wound up winning 30-23 in overtime.

Rushing the field after that kick was one of the best moments of my life. Why can't I find any footage of the fans taking down the goal post? Anyone have shots of that?

You are 100% correct. If they played this past year, it would have been UGLY!! Schedule was in our favor in that aspect, but it didnt really matter if we played Gators or not this year, we still got our asses kicked!

I was at that game because i had some friends with season tickets that didnt want to go see auburn get killed. The first and only time auburn fans have ever charged the field.

The wind during that game was ridiculous, I think it helped Auburn win that game because they intercepted 4 of Rex Grossman's passes that night.

This is my all-time favorite Auburn game. Daniel Cobb really stepped up and played probably the best game of his career and then Damon Duval hooked the ball into the wind and won the game and was the hero.
