  • Hey Brett, Do you still use your Ethos?

  • Pinnacle rulzz

  • Hello,

What's power supply that you use for ethos?

  • @artniteflym I can't remember - I sold it out of financial necessity (hate that!) In all likelihood, for this video, it was probably the 12V feed from a T-Rex Fuel Tank.

  • what pedals are they besides the ethos it does sound like all a person would need

  • good sound and as for the footwear thats ok, what tennis are they anyway jordans? LOL

  • killer moon boots

  • Burgermann, are those lollers in that tele? and can you tell me more about the achilles amp?

  • @jjhnnybgd Nope. At the time of filming they were the stock Fenders. I've since replaced them with Mick Brierley Hand Wounds and they're even better. The Achillies? It's an exact (as you can possibly make) point-to-point replica of a tweed 4x10 1959 Bassman. Right down to the screws! :)

  • Can you reproduce a nice Univibe-type of effect with this Modfactor? Thanks.

  • Burgs, LOVING the videos and the pedals you uncover. Can't wait to get my hands on a DVK Gold Top and the Farndurk stuff looks and sounds stella. Confused about the ET Factor boxes power issues you're mentioning - are they not just 9VDC centre neg?

  • Thanks! ET boxes: They do have 9V's but they're a different barrel size and they draw a lot. The brick sized wall warts that ship with them are 1200ma but many believe they draw a lot less - something in the vicinity of 300ma. So Voodoo Lab and T-Rex have both released power supplies that 'should' be able to accommodate them - the ISO 5 and Chameleon respectively. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. We aim to please! :)

  • @Burgerman666 I know this is old, but seems like the Jaycar wall wart units can power it too, without the bulkiness...

  • Whats that sound your using at 2:00...its awesome...Like Zappa's Ship Ahoy! Great vids by the way....

  • Awesome board. Are you using the wallwarts that come with the eventides?I can't see them in the video. I love the timefactor but hate the power supply.

  • Yup, I'm with you. In fact, shortly after this clip was done I removed both ET's from my board because, frankly, dealing with the warts was a PITA. Fortunately James and the guys from Voodoo Lab have a solution called the ISO5 and Versa which they'll be offering us soon. Something ET should have considered earlier on, I think. Aside from the hideous power supply issue, these pedals rock. They're the best, no question.

  • They have the iso on musician's friend as "in stock" :)

  • Yeah, probably not the 240V version though - Australian voltage. I spoke to James at NAMM and they're still a couple of weeks off.

  • What's the one on the lower left, between the Modfactor and the Ottava??? Your sound on all your boards are sooo clean and noiseless. I see no noise gates. How do you get such clean tones with all those pedals stacked?

  • This is a pretty old clip, one of the first I did. All you're hearing is the camera's in-built mic audio. Maybe that helps with the noiseless thing. Apart from that I run good cables and try to keep my amps in decent condition. The pedal you're asking about is an old 'American Edition' Teaser Stallion (Catalinbread). It's particularly great with Teles. Thanks for watching!

  • I'm sorry, but the footwear just ruins the whole vid for me. LOL

  • hi there are you runing your delay pedal into the effects loop of the amp? By the way great playing and your demos are the best. cheers

  • All pedals straight into the Bassman's Normal channel. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! :)

  • What is the pedal order? Thanks.

  • Bottom right to top left. Farndurk comp is first, Timefactor last.

  • how much were all those pedals?

  • Enough to get one into trouble with the credit card company...

  • Wonderful sound and playing...Congratulations !

  • Can you please list the pedals here thanks!

    Awesome video

  • amp and ethos settings if you could?

  • Can't remember, sorry. It was 6 months ago. If I did things in my normal fashion, then I would have run the amp with the tones flat or at 12 o'clock. The Ethos I normally run in Classic mode, Bright off, Bass at around 3 o'clock and everything else at around 11 o'clock.

  • Very tasty Brett, another good demo and great playing... as usual

  • Is there a specific name for the lick that is at 0:21, 0:26-0:29, 0:38-0:41, 1:06-1:08? I have been trying to learn how to play licks like this, any suggestions on videos or other ways to learn?

  • Hmm. Not really anything specific, just bluesy licks borrowed or inspired by likes of the 70's kings - Page, Gilmour et al. Then there's a bit Am sweeping a la Malmsteen. Nothing special. There'd be a zillion lessons on YouTube, I reckon.

  • please share mo settings. i need more convincing in selling my vintage ones for this.

  • More settings for..??

  • I couldn't help but notice on the description it says that this was filmed with a macbook pro. Whenever I try to record a demo through my macbook it doesn't go through. youtube always rejects the video format or something. Did you run into this problem as well?

  • Do a search for iMovie to YouTube and get a couple of helpful videos to have a look at. Apart from those, the variables a huge and too much to go into here. But really, if your machine is in good working order, your software is up to date and your net connection is fast, you should be OK - as long as you know what you're doing. Try again.

  • Congratulations! I was wondering how long it would take for someone to ask. You win. :)

That sound is Q-Wah setting I programmed to approximate Zappa's 'Ships Ahoy' sound that he pulled with an old Oberheim CV.

    Settings:

    Q-Wah; Intensity - 55; Type - Wah wah; Depth - 70; Speed - 7.59Hz; Shape - SMP/Hold; Xnob - 0; Dmod - 63; SMod - 0; Mod Rate - 0.12; Mod Source - Sine.

It works great with a Muff before it or any other drive/fuzz after it. Enjoy. :)

  • yo man i have the original pinnacle and its no where as good as that one!

  • What is a little box in right corner?

    Regard,

  • That's the mighty Ottava Magus by Catalinbread. It should sound a lot better than this but I f^%ked it up by putting a buffer before it (ModFactor). This is NOT a true rep of the OM. You should always have pedals like these at the front of your chain pre everything else with a buffer. For the definitive vid of the OM do a search for Fatback. He's the king. :) I'll cut another one soon.

  • I want the Ottava so BAD!!! What a badass little pedal. Compressor in lower right corner??

Great playing and tones by the way.

  • That's the Farndurk Burgs compressor. Flatteringly named after yours truly. :)

  • Yeah, I just noticed your demos of it. What a GREAT sounding comp. Thanks for the reply!

You're a fantastic player and your daughter is hilarious!!

    Cheers!!

  • i want an ethos so bad...... whats the red pedal? pinnacle by indy guitarist??

you do great demos by the way i just subcribed.... i wish you had a capatin coconut II..... ive been wanting to hear a great demo of that for a while now

  • Yeah, I wish I had a CC2, too! I can but dream. The red pedal is a Pinnacle II by Wampler. It does a great Eddie. Thanks for the kind words. :)

  • Which model Ethos do you have?

  • TLE. Sounds pretty good too. :)

  • Well you certainly have it sounding great Brett.

That Bassman style amp you have sounds great too.

  • Yeah, the amp is a killer. It's as close a replica of the tweed '59 that can be built with the parts that are available today. Achillies Amps in Melbourne hand built it for me. It took them almost 6 months to get the right components and put it together but, damn, it was worth the wait.

  • Hey Brett,

So between this board and the other...does one tend to be more recording, one live, one home use or is it all just depending on the musical setting?

  • Hey Grant, I tend to use the 'main' board for gigging because each pedal is a one-stop shop and there's not much that can go wrong. However..the sounds that I can pull with this board are pretty phenomenal so I've just gotta raise the courage to take it out. At the moment though, it's my home indulgence.
