@wtfiypaw: No, he gave his opinion of the film and reccommended it, so it was a review. A lot of critics provide a little bit of a synopsis in their reviews.
I enjoy Blunty's reviews but this one misfires. He spends the majority of it giving a synopsis. I am more interested in what he thinks about the movie than hearing the plot from start to finish. Obviously Hot fuzz is solid gold.
Funnily enough, I just found this review today and I watched this movie for the first time yesterday. What I really love about this movie is its fluid transition from action to comedy and it really does work well here.
And everything Simon Pegg touches is gold. He had a part in Season 2 of 'Black Books' starring Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey, (who also appeared in the Cornetto trilogy). Highly recommend Black Books.
As an update, Blunty, what's your take on "Run Fatboy Run?" I was hesitant to see it because it didn't stay long in US theatres but shot straight to the discount DVD section at BestBuy!

You say you became a fan of Simon Pegg after seeing Shaun of The Dead, right? Where have you been hiding!? Have you never seen the hilarious and ground breaking TV series 'Spaced'? I would prefer to think that Hot Fuzz was directed and shot in the style of Spaced as was Shaun of The Dead, I also think that Spaced is superior to both movies.
i absolutely LOVED Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead, both excellent. i have seen Hot fuzz 4 times, and Shaun of the dead alot more than i can count. I love the humour that alot of people miss out on, because they just dont get it, you know? Danger 50,000 volts is another funny series hosted by Nick Frost, and sometimes features Simon as well.
You really should. Get to the theater before it leaves. It should be at the dollar shows at this point. Don't watch it at home. There's some spectacular shots and scenery that can only be appreciated in a theater.

I can't decide which I prefer, Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz... Have you seen Spaced? - it's a sit-com with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Probably the best new sit-com around at the mo.
Yes, but you used the word new as if it had just started this season. It's from 1999, and it ran for two seasons. Therefore it's only broadcast as reruns, which means that it is not new. I could say that Will and Grace is new compared to Seinfeld, but they're both still over, and they're both not new. The definition of 'new' is something that is, in fact, new ;)
I loved the amusing contrast between the high-octane direction - fast cuts, close ups, the music - and the dullness of the quaint little village of Sanford.
Treating the ordinary and humdrum goings on of a little village, as if it was the mean streets of New York or something.
A perfect parody because it demonstrates how you can make ANYTHING seem like it's big and epic and high-octane - even when it totally isn't - with the right camera angles and sound.
Brilliant movie. Well worth seeing, if you haven't already. :D

Spot On! I actually went and saw it in theaters, which I never do. I adore Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Every single scene is a reference to something. And in some cases their use of those references are more meanful than the originals. It was brilliant. I really don't know how these guys do it.
Loved it laughed so hard in the cinema....]he is a fun fact did you notice that "butterman" was looking at the shaun ofthe dead dvd in the shop! (my brother spotted that and i dont have a clue how! lol
The movie is simply great and very enjoyable, there are so many connections to other action movies, humor is really priceless, everything is just right. Thumbs up for your review as well! And your text as beginning was hilarious :D
I have been a fan of Simon pegg and Edgar Wright for year's way before Shaun of the dead. There are a few jokes in Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz witch you will not get unless you have see spaced more importantly the commentary.
Sounds like you were paid to talk about this movie, heheh.
I just watched it today and it instantly became one of my top favorites. I REALLY wish they hadn't advertised it as such a average comedy movie because that turned a lot of people from seeing it.
EXCELLENT MOVIE! I would also add that most of the same people (if not all) from Sean of the Dead are in Hot Fuzz! Back in April I must've seen it everyday for a week straight just taking different friends to see it! Cant wait for the dvd!
great review, i love Hot Fuzz a lot too. definately the best time i have had in a movie theatre since Borat. i'm gonna buy the dvd when it comes out July 31st. although u didn't have to spend half of the review telling about the story.
Shaun of Dead was awesome and Hot Fuzz was great, too. I laughed so hard about the "accidents" and the ending sequence was just great. I highly recommend both movies.
I thought it was good but not as good as Shaun of the Dead - not that that's a bad thing at all, Shaun of the Dead is fantastic and would have been hard to beat... but I guess its just different. I liked the story of Hot Fuzz more though, that has to be said.
you stole that move from bob barker. the whole catch ya next time. he says goodbye everybody after the whole have your pets spayed or neutered thing but the same hand move thing.
I'm only even vaguely aware of the existence of this Bob Barker chap - we never got him on Aussie TV. In fact if it wasn't for pop culture referencing him occasionally I would have never heard the name. And I'd lay odds HE wasn't the first to use it either.
now I just want to know who you name-checked instead of Simon Pegg, don't think I didn't notice that cover up ;)
oh, and if you haven't seen it already you'll love SPACED - absolute classic tv comedy where Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg learnt their craft - full of great movie in-jokes
Oh, and sorry for the double comment. If you like Simon Pegg get your hands on Spaced. It's a show where he got his start, Nick Frost is in it too. The pilot episode is here on YouTube, search "Spaced Simon Pegg" If you like Simon Pegg then you should definitely watch the show, it's written by the same people who wrote Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
So... did you like it?

Sounds like you were paid to talk about this movie, heheh.
I just watched it today and it instantly became one of my top favorites. I REALLY wish they hadn't advertised it as such a average comedy movie because that turned a lot of people from seeing it.

Shaun of the dead was epic. And after i went to see Hot Fuss in Cinema, it was just as excellent!

EXCELLENT MOVIE! I would also add that most of the same people (if not all) from Sean of the Dead are in Hot Fuzz! Back in April I must've seen it everyday for a week straight just taking different friends to see it! Cant wait for the dvd!

Watched the 'Spaced' series yet? Also, go to Hasslefree miniatures - interesting zombie hunter miniatures, may look a little familiar.

great review, i love Hot Fuzz a lot too. definately the best time i have had in a movie theatre since Borat. i'm gonna buy the dvd when it comes out July 31st. although u didn't have to spend half of the review telling about the story.

What are those white covered DVD's in the background on your DVD rack? They look a little like Zeta Gundam DVD's..

I'm at the office right now, but from memory I think those would be the excell saga DVDs

Oh. I've always wanted to see Excell Saga..

Shaun of Dead was awesome and Hot Fuzz was great, too. I laughed so hard about the "accidents" and the ending sequence was just great. I highly recommend both movies.

Blunty, have you seen Gridhouse? Edgar Wright has a trailer in there. It's quite funny. "DON'T!" Lol.

Why does that style of editing sound vaguely familiar...

LOL, you may have a point.

You would like Spaced, it's full of cult show references and was directed by Edgar Wright and stars Nick Frost/Simon Pegg.
xHellfire 4 years ago
is this your official filming shirt? monkeys!
rosieflowe 4 years ago
Oh, and sorry for the double comment. If you like Simon Pegg get your hands on Spaced. It's a show where he got his start, Nick Frost is in it too. The pilot episode is here on YouTube, search "Spaced Simon Pegg" If you like Simon Pegg then you should definitely watch the show, it's written by the same people who wrote Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Mattson402 4 years ago
Watch the movie a second or third time, every single line is forshadowing a future scene, lol.
Mattson402 4 years ago
did you know that edgar wright and simon pegg were in land of the dead?
FightTheGooTube 4 years ago
Have you seen the series called SPACED by messers Pegg and Frost? It's on another level.
