Eminem also sued (or is suing) them over the amount of money artists get paid for downloads. I read somewhere that the artists get something like 4 cents per download. Affiliate marketers who promote downloads get paid more than the artist. Crazy!

If they did, that is TRULY low.

However, while Apple's marketing department loves to rip off artists, I feel that it goes from ruthless to downright stupid the moment they actually take a well-known copyrighted song and uses it without paying for it or even asking. I believe a lot of things about Apple, but I don't believe they're downright stupid.

hey u got it al wrong dis gu just put 2 commercials together. one of lugs and eminems apple commercial. their both very similer. go to google and read about the contravars that took place. lugs went to sue apple for the commercial caus itwas nearly like lugs old commercial

Haha, no, they hired the real Eminem. The Eminem vs. Apple lawsuit was related to a completely different commercial for iTunes, before Apple started using the infamous silhouettes. The original iPod+iTunes ad campaign featured people listening to their iPods and singing songs in front of a white background. One of the people was a kid singing Lose Yourself. Apparently Apple didn't have the rights to use the song at the time, but it aired anyway. Apple worked hard to get Eminem for this ad.
