man you are uckey as hell to have seen this one I have yet to see it last year I was out by my farm in my truck and got caught at a rural grade crossing with a blind hill and heard a whistle so I stoped to wait and up climed the MKT unit in the lead but I didnt have my camra now I go everywhere in that truck and tractor (since I cross that crossing alot)with my camra in case that happens again man i was pissed as hell to miss that shot
@crazyrailfan that ex Pc GP40 was used to switch out the private railcar I was on last year at KC union station I was suprised as hell to see it pull up and couple to the rear of our car I got several shats of it
@trainboy94 it certainlly is one of my favorites I grew up on the old Mopac(former T&P) mainline I also saw MKT everyday as they ran that line to Kansas City I was happy as hell at first to see the UP I assumed runthrough power later I learned Mopac and MKT was no more and that upset me now its just boreing UP yellow nowdays here with KCS on the other side of town
This p***es me off I went right over the Topeka Sub today several times and didn't see this! also this makes me wonder if there are any railfans in Greensburg! Great catch Chuck!
not really sure to tell you the truth lol i head up just look for good scenery oppertunites I do more still photo work there is this one highway that runs along I-70 cant remember the name usually I go up and down it lookin good shots
Ah It might be the lower Silver Lake Rd if it's in Topeka there is a road along the Topeka Sub in the Paxico/McFarland area that has some great scenic ops!
How totally AWESOME!! I lived for a while in Texas very close to the old Missouri Pacific & Texas Pacific RR (now of course UP). Great to see the old MoPac blues with the big Eagle symbol other than in pics of the old classic railroads!! They called it "The Route of the Eagles"! How great-- you just really made my day!!!
Awesome catch & engineer. I've yet to see one of these guys but the only UP I see in these parts is run through intermodel so I'd be suprised if I get one down here in the south.
That's one cool engine, and a sweet doppler effect!

I agree with trainutjob, I think we should have some chessie locos painted... That scheme would look good on an es44dc!

I love it my favorite herritage unit!
MoPacBoy 2 years ago 2
It's a shame there are no units painted for various railroads like an ex-Conrail unit being painted for the PRR.

What is a shave and a haircut?
cifn2 3 years ago
shave and a haircut is basically a small series of short blasts on the whistle. Supposedly it goes to the rhythm of "Shave and a haircut, two bits."

Is there only 1 of those engines?
norfolkdash9 3 years ago
theres only one engine painted the same as that one.. but UP has a total of 6 engines with a special paint job.
Mopac92 3 years ago
So theres 2 of those engines?
norfolkdash9 3 years ago
There is only 1 engine in the Missouri Pacific Paint, but UP has 5 others in other Heritage paints. SP, MKT, DRGW, WP, and CNW

Kinda confusing but OK
