As long as we're all fans of Owl City, who cares WHEN we discovered them? Sure, Fireflies was the first song I heard of theirs, but that doesn't mean I like them just because it got so popular. From there, I listened to the rest of their albums and loved them equally as much. Saying something like "I knew Owl City BEFORE Fireflies" or "I discovered Owl City BEFORE it became popular" makes people sound like hipster douche bags.
