  • the horfan is same...... scary movie

  • Does anyone know what pedals Robert used on his guitar in this song?

  • yes this is the best video for me over the cure

  • right.

  • This wasn't the 1st Cure vid I ever saw, I was used to the heavily lipsticked Robert, so when I first saw this vid I swear I thought he had someone else standing in for him doing the lip synching!

  • Wait till you have a look at the young Robert on some of their earliest videos such as 10.15 Saturday Night, A Forest and Play for Today. Robert minus the makeup and freaky hair and you will have more of a shock. You will keep asking yourself is it him. But he looked absolutely gorgeous when he was young and normal looking. Check it out.

  • Come to me scared princess

  • Sometimes I'm dreaming while the other people dance, Charlotte sometimes.....

  • I was living & clubing in Hollywood when this song came out in the early 80's .... ahhh ... the memories.

  • the best song of the cure, mother fuckeds!!

    hahahaha

  • Somehow depessing music brough me out of my deperssion. I guess this music aloowed me to expess how I felt when this music first came out.. I still LOVE it

  • very true...i think i thru my lonley dark goth days with songs by the cure 'cause it made me feel 'not lonely' anymore...

  • This is the Cure era I love the most-Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography. Their high watermark was this time, imo.

  • I thought Mary was the only woman to ever come out in a Cure video.

    I'm so confused...:/

  • THE BEST CURE SONG!!

  • i agree

  • That is just what I was going to post !

  • try to find today a band like CURE

  • I remember reading the book of the same name, a spooky kids story about a girl who changes places with a girl from the past when she sleeps( I think) so she's only Charlotte ' sometimes',

Tho I have to say the girl playing Charlotte in the video looks way too mature, fit tho!

  • my fave CUre song

  • Comment removed

  • This song could have easily fit on "Faith".

  • it was included on the re-issue of Faith too!

  • i'll bet the chick from this vid is still hot!even if she dropped 2 or 3 kids. she's got that "hotness" about her.

  • song # 1 aside from all cats are grey. old shcool fan-de-natic!

  • My second fave song from them! <3

  • What is your first? Mine is 100 Years.......

  • I can never get this song out of my head, but I don't mind because I love it. Sigh, do you think Simon Gallup ever understood how ridiculously hot he was?! :D

  • "the cure" will all ways be robert smith,but it won't be 100% without simon,much like led zepplin was driven by john bonhams drums.don't ever leave simon.:}

  • Beautiful song...I was amazed to hear of the book and I finally found it. This song is definitely the story of "Charlotte Sometimes".

  • Words and images don't fit.

  • Seeehr schönes Stück. Nur leider mit zu vielen Erinnerungen behaftet. Ich kann das Lied immer noch nicht hören ohne zu heulen. *sigh*

  • Oh wow.... wonderful song... I love CURE since the 80`s

  • i hate it when people compare the new Cure to the older songs...

The Cure rules both ways. =)

  • quite easily one of the best songs ever written! The Cure are one of the best bands of all time.

  • My favourite song by them.

  • I can see why the band hate this video, but its cheesiness only ever made me like it more. It's fantastic. The building, with its atmospheric look and their bored demeanor are really good.

  • Excellence. Thanks.

  • LET THERE BE MUSIC!!!

  • This is The Cure that I miss.

Today, those that call themselves The Cure...a talentless conglomeration of individuals along with some impassive lyricist and blob of a human that calls himself Robert Smith.

So sad that the real Cure died in the year 2000.

  • The only good thing about getting older is that it beats the shit out of the alternative.

  • You sound like an immature little twat,..but what else could you expect from a crackhead with a stupid name like beachbongbabes.

  • "wow bitch..but since ur gonna get all nasty n start calling me names u can go suck a big fat black cock. n ur mom is the only cracked out twat around here..lame mother fucker."

Idiots like you are what take the enjoyment out of the forums on the internet.

Would you talk like that to a real human being who has the power to hit you in the face if you acted like such an ass? I dont think so.

Keep it bottled inside and have a heart attack.

You bring ZERO to the enjoyment of this video.

  • Bring it, douche.

  • robert smith looks a little like liz taylor.

  • goth masterpiece

  • it's not goth, is new wave

  • bloody gorgeous.

  • I just finished the book... This song makes so much more sense to me, now.

    A very good read.

  • charlotte and Clare ....

  • A cold echoey council, the video red overexposure, the lonely schoolgirl, her ghostly Victorian doppelganger, the band's glances give such a yearning, eerie vibe. Smith's multi-layered reverbed vocals is so hauntingly beautiful.

  • oh joy another artist that Universal just has to disable embedding that's getting really old

  • She reminds me of Geraldine Somerville, who plays Lily Potter in the Harry movies. Anyhoo, this is one of the best Cure songs. Period.

  • this is a brilliant song,my all time fave.i bort it in January '81 along with Primary.both still sound today as good as they did all those years ago.time-less classics.thanks for the posting,Zig.

  • I think she wasn't laughing, she looked frightened...but anyway, the video looks great ! I read sommewhere that it was shot in a psychiatric hospital, maybe it can explain the madness of the atmosphere...

  • Why isshe laughing at the end?

  • laughing? i didn't notice

  • yeah!!!

    the cure is the best!!!

i love this song and the video y amazing

    simon is very sexy

  • sorianata pluskuminkka sorineën, salfumant robert smith hasta les 10 del matí, letakarni okklimaälaa, okey!!

  • on of the best from the end of the 70est

  • It's from 1981, definetly not the end of the 70s.

  • ok, end of '70 --- beginning of '80...

any way, its some of the best....

    cure for ever

  • Must agree with you on that. It's one of the best cure songs. A classic!

  • Who is the young lass in this video? What's her name? Anyone?

  • charlotte lol

  • I've spent months scourin the net and haven't been able to find out. But I am totally captivated (obsessed whichever). So if anyone does know please tell me...

  • she looks like lynne frederick, actress in the amazing mr blunden. but i dont know.

  • I think the girl is lovely, soft and feminine. the song is what sells it though!

  • love this song

  • it's beautiful.

  • Pakkohan tää oli tulla sepittämään. Tuskin näin laittamatonta, mustanpuhuvaa kaunista syöveriä elon ehtoona tapaa...Kauan sitten tästä nimenikin poimin. Siksi kirjoitin. For tribute Robert Smith, joka luotsasi tätä bändiä käsittämättömällä tavalla.

  • can anyone tell me what year this was made and is there a book by the same name

  • 1981, and yes there is, by Penelope Farmer

  • not sure the year (maybe try wikipedia). But there is a book of the same name.

  • The book is Penelope Farmer's Charlotte Sometimes, edited in 1969. Awesome book.

  • and the book was 1969

  • The filmclip is nothing compared to the song. My favourite song, but an awful filmclip.

The actress is far too confident in her acting to be Charlotte from the book by Penny Farmer. I love the book, too.

  • the vocal overdubbing on this song is amazing. one of their best songs.

  • used to have wet dreams about this bird...oops, too much info lol ;-)

  • Great song...

I want to read the book so bad!

  • it's a good book, get a copy and read it. I think I'll read it again, it's been a few years since I've read it.

  • I just found out this song is based on a book by this title...I'm reading it right now!!!

  • Whats about?

    Thnx

  • i love the way she is running from the bedroom and they are looking at her ...

  • a super cool song

    Hail The Cure!!

    and Robert is so cute

    :3

  • awesome lyrics go robert yeah.

  • belli belli belli!!!! porco cane!

  • Aaaah, at last, without subtitles !! Thnk you very very much !

  • my favorite videoclip and my favorite song by the great CURE

  • It's the same with me; although it's my favourite song period.

    Have a thumbs up.

  • greatest band ever

  • Thank you, I appreciate this so much...<3
