@DG5298 You'll lose a precious love was recorded march 2 1964. My girl was David's first #1 as a temptation and was recorded september and november 1964. I wish it would rain was david's last #1 on both r&b and pop charts and was recorded april and august 1967 and I could never love another( after loving you) was david's last #1 on the r&b charts and was recorded february and november 1967.
Great! Great! Truly Great! Without his boys, the Temptations behind him David Ruffin keeps the spirit of the songs. And, what about the musicians? A piano, bass guitar, lead guitar and a drummer and the voice that can't be erased, from the legacy of the Temptations. Others have followed and came close. But, he just left his mark forever.
Happy Holiday, this is your day "MY Favorite song by DR. David Ruffin". thank you so much I pray to see him perform this song!!! Oh Allah thank you for the divine favor! This a MASTERPIECE!!!!!
Thank you wgbhstocksales for uploading this clip. Totally awesome to watch the Ruff man in action. Just one little correction though: the song second song he is singing is called 'You'll Lose A Precious Love'. Other than that, you are pure awesomeness. :)
So much better then the Soultrain crap where David just lip syncs. I hate that that was cool back then cause it cheated us of so many real performances by David.
@soulsetsmysoulonfire It's not fair to call David's Soul Train performances 'crap' because he had to lip synch. Soul Train actually had David on a national syndicated show several times, which helped him get the exposure he needed. I appreciate this live peformance 2 but this was a local show. Soul Train would do live performances here and there but it depended on how big the performer was. Plus singing live back in the day could be quite costly. Anything with Ruffin is all good with me! :)
THANK YOU for sharing. I don't suppose you can tell us what it's from? It also looks like there might have been more to this performance -- I don't suppose you have it? :)
@withalotosoul Back in the 60s the Say Brother series always had a musical guest on each show. Unfortunately back in those days they didn't preserve every episode because videotape was expensive so programs were tapes over. The only thing that exists is a compilation of various performers: David Ruffin, Gladys Knight, Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield and more. Most of the clips are abbreviated performances.
@wgbhstocksales Oh man, if you ever find the full performance of this DAVID RUFFIN show. Post it ASAP, this man is an UNDERRATED SOUL HERO!! Can't wait 'til his UNSUNG episode airs.
