Absolutely beautiful car. Nothing like pure Detroit iron. However, the commercial would not have captured my interest in 1971. It is too pedestrian, too unnoticeable. In a word, boring. And what's with the driver wearing a helmet in a luxury car? That really makes him look a little....well, I'll keep my comment PC. Great car, lousy presentation.
Truly one of the best, most dependable, and most popular model ever produced. Contrary to a couple comments on this video from some experts at negativity, these cars were built like tanks. I happen to own two of this year and model, unrestored and just as good looking and dependable as ever. Thanks for sharing.
Some of the comments here may be implying that the Olds name was retired because of bad workmanship or poor sales. It was strictly a marketing decision by General Motors. Olds was second only to Chevrolet in popularity during the 70s when this commercial was made; people loved them.
Well I have a good comment to post here. We had a green 1973 olds delta 88 when I was little, and I absolutely Loved that car. It had 350 and that car would run.

These car only lasted the same amount of months you financed your car. After they were payed for it was time to trade it in for a new one. They did not last.
The line is now dead and gone. They were truly "a step ahead" in cheating people with junk cars and fading into history
haha, I liked seeing that car for the split - second that they showed it going through the cones. What you didn't see is the roll and knocking over about five of them after they cut the film LOL
Definitely a great ad for the '71 Olds 88, one of the best full-sized sedans ever offered in this country, from an auto nameplate now dead and buried.

Great ad! I always admired the '71 Delta 88, especially the Royale, in which it said "Delta Royale" on the trunk deck. I really miss Olds.

My first car was a white 71 delta 88 with 455 rocket. It really was an experience to drive it. It had 210k miles on it when I last had it.
