Just because china took over it 50 years go doesn't mean that it is not a country. People from tibet don't say that they are from China when asked where they're from. Of course there are lot of Tibetans in Nepal and so there is in India too, but this doesn't mean that Tibet is Nepal or Nepal is Tibet. One thing I don't understand, it is because of China that Tibet is now so developed. Had it not been for china, I think Tibet would be even far behind than Nepal or any other 3rd world countries.

Please refer to some US official materials, e.g. the US stamps issued in WWII, they will clearly show you that Tibet was one part of China, as all the countries recognized.
