The Guy at the beginning takes all credibility away from toshiba. They could have improved on the original idea, and not said, "do something no one else has done" and they would have been fine. I'd point out that the photography in toshiba's add is MILES ahead of simon's photography. And not just resolution, there is more thought put into the rig, and the angles, and general composition. props to the original artist. And props to the CINEMATOGRAPHER of the toshiba add. Shame on toshiba tho.
@nsaik Simon's film is documentation of an even that happened live with the vehicle floating freely and a radio link back to the ground for the visuals & sound. Toshiba took expensive equipment, different rigs, multiplie takes, weeks of post-production, and foley sound... there is a video of Simon taking about it here: youtube com / watch?v=8sGvNsu8G20
@illestrenegade chairs are easily used as a stand-in for a generalized sense of absence. there is a very distinct lack of a person, so specifically that the chair is personified. it is a solitary, lonesome and human gesture.
that is one of the smartest reply's iv heard on youtube since 2007, i appreciate you ACTUALLY answering the question, completely makes sense now thanks!
@RealSpaceChair It's just that it says in your own video intro "Simon was involved in the Toshiba advert and this comparison looks at how the original film informed the new version." So I was just commenting on that.
Thanks for putting them alongside each other tho - fab.
Yep, Toshiba tried something NO ONE tried before LOL!!!

At least Simon's chair didn't break to pieces lol..

@ShiroiYuriNoOtome Simon's did. The Toshiba chair was made to break up so that is looked as dramatic as Simon's.
