this project is really well done, but i can't help but feel that stuff is missing. like the rats, and the germans on the higher ground. good job abyways!
the irish sufferd a lot to alot of the british army at the somme was made up of irish and candian forces in fact most of the losses suffured on the first few days of the battle were out of irish and canadian divions
Actually Canadian forces didn't participate in the beginning campaigns of Somme, apart from the Newfoundland Regiment (which was under British 29th Division)... Irish units did suffer numerous casualties
at that time, canada was part of the british empire. british forces were made up of quite a lot of commonwealth battalions, like australian and scottish, too.
because at this point canada was a part of the british commonwealth. so when they say british forces they realy mean british, canadian, australian, new zeland, south africa, india ect...
Its just that these forces where brought in under british command.
I hate how Canada won many of the battles of WWI and stay behind the shadow of the British when really it was the Canadians they proved themselfs in that war
go to the battlefields on the somme and see the canadian ground dedicated to their lost at newfoundland park. don't you think the other nations contributed too?
