  • nice paint vid but its really only for pro. its really copicated and hard to follow and requires loads of paint

  • Black* primer, With space wolf grey*,

One last question should you wash first or dry brush first for the armor?

    Thanks again

  • hey les i just started a space wolf army and was wondering about the paint scheme. I started with plack primer. then for the base coat i mixed space wolf grey and shadow grey together. Once that was done i then used asurmen blue as a wash. then dry brushed when dry with space wolf gery. For the head im kind of at a tough spot and i was wondering if you could help me out a bit... Should i use wash then hilights and if so any suggestions. Big fan of your painting keep it up :)

  • When you take the brush away are you putting it in some more paint?

  • whats is the primer white?

  • lol bloltgun metal

  • Hello, very nice work really and very inspiring too... i decided to paint my wolf army exactly like this one but i cant figure out what primer do you use can you help me out? what is that primer? is it spray? can i buy it from your site or somewhere else? this is kinda urgent...so please answer!

    Again, excellent work congratulations!

  • anybody knows what primer does Les use in this project??

  • anybody knows what primer does Les use in this project??

  • Hey Les! Where can I pick up the rust, and other, pigments you show here? Do you have a video that shows just how to do this technique??

  • and its black paint

  • the thing that holds it up really is a thing called a "baseplate"

  • is this loike some mechanical brush lol that would be cool

  • do you use primer on your models?

  • Is that a white basecoat? it has a blue tint so is it something else?

  • @Bowser2847 the blue tint is his hd lamp i think

  • Hmm... where do u get bloltgun metal? LOL

  • @warhammer797 hobby shop.......

  • wut did u base it?

  • Hey I was wondering what type of paint the games workshop paint is, seems like it lacks some colors. Been wanting to get more, like pink, purple, etc

  • @hayes712 Look on the games workshop site they have all the colours you need including pinks and purples :p

  • Hey Lester,

I know I keep spaming you XD. Could you include the bands/ titles of the songs you play in your videos?

  • How long have you been painting models

  • i would pay you anything to paint 40 of my guys.(of course, mine is a new chapter, but it's pretty basic.

  • Are you meant to dilute your paints in water, or something else?

  • ive had trouble painting my wolves, so i just wanted to say thanks for posting this. also, was that a black ink dry brush you started off with?

  • All of ur vids are great sources that inspire me alot

It doesnt matter that ur paint job is so awesome

it only inspires me to improve my painting skills alot more

Best wishes Tobben The Wolfguard *lol*

  • nice vid

    :)

  • Did it say that the soft body black wash paints will be available at gw retailers?

  • I am new to warhammer 40K I'm using the space wolves, and have a couple questions when it comes to painting my units.

1.can i use acrylic paint on my models?(with the use of primer)

2.when it comes to paint schemes what how many colors do i need?

3.does it matter what colors i use in my paint scheme?(to give my since of individuality to my soliders)

  • @acheron187 Use the games workshop paints and your generally meant to paint them how there meant to look, but it doesnt matter too much.

  • Great video, I like your work and this video. +1 subscriber.

  • what type of figure/model do you use, it doesn't look like the traditional games workshop kind?

  • @ianamilett The model is a wolf guard with lightning claws got to GW website and look for space wolves and find it in the armie

  • ko

     awesome

  • ko

  • ko

  • Great opening song.

  • what do you put at the botton of the base to hold it to the paint pot? is it blue tac?

  • @Adrian890722 Yes it is :)

  • Those bases are really cool. How did you make them. Very stunning models!!

  • did you paint it all in bleu before you paint it?

  • what did you use as a base coat for this model to get the bluish undertone for the armor?

  • this is gonna sounds stupid, black ink? do u just mix black paint and water? Or is there some special mixture? plz respond thx

  • i think his black ink is the old GW black ink you could buy. You can mix black with water but its more of a wash then ink so you would have to wash it a few times.

  • @AwsomeOblivion it's GW Citadel Paint .....Badab Black WASH; but yes, you can get similar effects mixing chaos black and water...but the GW washes always turn out better for me..def worth the 4 bucks.

  • wonderful work! anhd also the soundtrack! what's the song?

  • Looks like I am very late in finding these videos. Thanks so much for taking the time on these tutorials! I started this hobby about 20 yrs ago and left it after I realized I was terrible at painting lol!. I love the novels and computer games and am at a point where I would like to get involved with the tabletop gaming again. One very simple question that I hope you'll still be able to answer - do you pretty much dilute all your paints 1:1? And does that also apply to the citadel paints?

  • Where can I download the music?

  • Does anyone know if using GW's Badab Black Wash would work the same as the wash Les uses in this video?

    MrEdemia

  • Is this a metal model?

  • will the GW black wash work the same as the ink you used?

  • epic music, who is it?

  • @SeanAkaMcGlitch

The yellow captions in the corner of the vid tell you the artist and the song.

    The artist is MetalSiwy

  • love the base of the figure!

  • ive just started playing warhammer and was wonudering how i was gunna paint my space wolves thanks for the tutorial dude

  • How long you already paint :O???

  • would badaub black work for the first coat.

  • dude the music is dope, suites the space wolves perfectly haha - nice painting

  • Excellent vids, very useful and very well made thank you! 1 thing I would personally like to add though, the videos are ace but the hideous raaaawk guitar music is just awful!!! any chance of getting rid in future videos and having a) more voice overs (much more useful!) or b) some different music (anything but those guitars please!)

  • awesome paint job! the coolest chapter is the space wolves and its coolest guys are Lukas the trickster and Ragnar Blackmane

  • is the model primed white?

  • what color is the blue?

  • was he useing black ink at the start?

  • @Aiedail506 Yes

  • @awesomepaintjob Badab black?

  • would Badab black wash work???

  • @WheresRuss yes

  • k thanks!

  • is that some sort of clay you use to hold you models?

  • @xXLibertyPrimeXx poster tack. 3m blue tac

  • hi and chance you could help me out. and post a few of the colours ues to paint space wolf iv wahted ur vids thier amazing and im starting an army and i would like to no what paint to look for. ??

any way you could help me and list a good few or list the lot you would use.. ?? many thx...

  • @envywolfe Just watch the video and write the colors down. That's what I would have to do to make the list.

  • HI thier is thier any why you could help me and psot some of the paints you used / would use to paint spacewolf ??

watching ur vidos and u do amazing jobs. and i lose track of all the clours and way you could list a good few or all colours you would use.. ???

any help will be great full..

  • Very usefull, thanks!

  • What should I do if I wanted the model to be a bit darker??

  • @WheresRuss Eavy Metal style base Shadow Grey and highlight with Space Wolf Grey. 13th Company - base Codex Grey/ Chaos Black 1:1 and highlight with Codex Grey.

  • what do u mean by base... srry Ive never really learned what base ment

  • @WheresRuss base coat

  • why did the model start out with a very light blue undercoat?i know u used white but i can still see some blue

  • @Namelessman102 there in no blue in the beginning. Just the lighting. I run an ottlite full spectrum HD light (blue hue) and 5 florescent (yellow hue) and the camera has a hard time white balancing. But this was shot with my old camera. The new one has a very accurate manual white balance.

  • ok ty

  • Would kill to see you do a Canis Wolfborn model!

Think i screwed mine up ^^

I started with a black undercoat followed by a fortress grey undercoar then washed it down with a 1/1 mix of chaos black and water.

Now i plan do do a 3 part transition from (Bottom) fortress grey to (Middle) Codex grey to (top) Chaos black.

Wish there was a tutorial for these "real" Wolves ^^

    Great vid BTW^^

  • dont they come grey???

  • hey do u think u could do a normal space marine... u know like with a helmet that would be great!! awesome vid btw!!

  • @jagr565 there are 5 other videos with helmet wearing SM. Just apply the same techniques using these color if you are doing SW.

  • thanks!

  • what was the first ink he used?

  • @halffliffe It says under the model during the first wash. As well as a pop up telling you where to get the recipe.

  • I just got an ork army, do not start them. They are mediocre melee and even worse ranged, go space wolves.

  • i can't decide, should i start space wolves or like orks

  • Orks arent as common as Wolves.

  • i play orks myself and i say they're really fun! but i will soon be starting space wolfs for my 2nd army or maybe eldar

  • Love your work, really makes me want to pick up warhammer.

  • what type of brush is that?

    i.e. what make "brand"?

  • @pathfinderdude08 says at the end

  • thanks!

  • i'd love to see a ork tutorial

  • what colour are you using as a base layer, some kind of grey/blue?

  • @infantry121 White primer

  • is that first color inc?

  • what are the rust pigments that you are using for the base? also, nice tutorial

  • awesomepaintjob is the brand lol. Any time the site name is above the color, that's the brand. You can get the pigments from the site as well as the wash recipes.

  • @awesomepaintjob

thanks Les...you are indeed AWESOME...sry for the ddouble post

  • who makes the rust pigmnets that you are using here on the base? great tutorial btw

  • My fave howtopaint video

  • Thats not Lucas the Trickster. Thats just a Wolf Guard with dual claws.

  • What camera and/or settings did you use for this vid? I want to make a video or two similar to this, so any suggestions camera-wise you could give me would be helpful.

As fro the actual painting, it is indeed awesome! My ushanka is off to you :)

    5 stars

  • Soft Body Black is my recipe. No it's not paint. The recipe can be found on dakkadakka tutorial section. It's made with acrylic based ink.

  • Nope, its a GW pot with a 40mm base glued to the top and 3M Blue Tac on top of that.

  • its all about washes =/

  • lol how much time do u spend on the base? o.O

  • Is the base custom or does it come with the figure? Beautifull figure and paintjob by the way...

  • Not a real fan of your lighting, kind of distorts your colours.

  • Im some sort of a noob when it come to painting models since i just started recently and would just like to know if people may paint space wolves some other colours and still be allowed to use the space wolves codex to play table top?

I wanted to paint my space wolves with black instead of shadow grey and red instead of yellow D

  • Your models. paint 'em however you like

  • That is allowed. I actually think that is an alternative Space Wolf color actually

  • they can be pink and still be space wolves..... ( Dont anybody dare makeing such a thing though)

  • scary guy lol

  • Hey man, What is the name of this model? I watched this vid for like the millionth time and I NeeD ONE! :)

By the way, did rogue market give you the model to do this tut? thats awesome. I might try to do a similar thing with eldar, but i will wait till i get better.

  • I'll find out which model it is. Rogue Market members donated the bulk of the submissions. I have 70+ models sitting in my room because of them. They are my family :)

  • The model's name is "Lukas, the trickster" and he counts as just a troop that you can attach with a squad of bloodclaws

  • this is not Lukas the trickster. Lukas has a plasma pistol instead of a right-hand Wolf Claw.

  • Yeah he is just called Wolf Guard with Lightning Claws. On GW site he is under SWolves, Elite.

  • what did you use for the base coat? was it skull white?

  • its just white primer.

  • mate what did u use to get the blue first off

  • great vid, is there a second one?

  • thanks! Soon, Been sick with sinus headache so painting has not been an option.

  • Thanks for using my music. You're awesome painter:) Greetings

  • man i need to know where do you get your paints and who make dark sepia?

  • do you prime WHite?

  • sure do :)

  • I really dig how you use the dark sepia wash as a bonding agent for the pigments.. nice

  • Of coarse you noticed that lol! Yes! Anything to keep the pigment fixed :)

  • is this a plastic or metal model?

  • Metal

  • what was the basecoat color? All you show is you giving the model a black body wash...

  • just white primer.

  • Oh alright, so, white primer and then soft body black wash.

  • correct! The white primer and white background, along with my 2 slightly different hue lights trick my camera's white balance.

  • amazing i just subbed XD

  • Nice painting. I wish I could paint as fast. That model rocks. Thanks for the video, keep 'em coming.

  • videos are getting better and better each time!!!

  • whats gonna b the next chap?

  • next chapter will be Blood Angels.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeet

  • Yo , jawaballs , ima let you finish , but Lbursley is the greatest painter of all time ..

    Great vidio :D

    Gretar

  • Simply freaking awesome! I would love to see this figures in hand.

    Cat/

  • Freakin' amazing job again! Jeez, I hope I can be as good as you one day. Until then, love the uploads. Looking forward to the rest of the videos for this chapter.

  • Just wondering, do you prime these models with a light paint coat or so ? Or is the black wash a primer for you?

  • models are primed white. wash shows the details to make painting easier.

  • freeking love that model and wow that looks good !

  • Dude, WOW

This video has to be one of your best. Fantastic.

Does the guy who does the music have a web site?

  • Thanks! No site yet but he asks that if you are interested in using his music to e-mail him for info. Really cool guy.

  • Awesome :) the only "complaint" I have is that I actually do use VGC, so the GW color names don't help me that much :P

  • Look up Vallejo Conversion Chart and look for the site thepainteddragon. All the info you need there.

  • Nice tutorial!

One question: are you left handed?

  • Actually no, you should see me paint with my right hand! J/k lol lefty here :)

  • Wow this will help me with the two things I was dreading to paint about wolves, flesh ( because they seem to have alot of it exposed) and fur.

    Mooree......give me mooooooreee : )

  • argh he's eating the brush =P

awesome tut, can't wait for the coming parts =)

  • Stunning vid mate, really enjoyed watching it... top marks on the quality and how its shot too!

  • musics AUSOM

  • Can't wait intil your done with it.

How about your next Space Marine Chapter?

I would like you to try to paint Crimson Fist? If I spelt it right

If you have other plans then its okay

  • Other plans indeed. But I the plan is to do all the popular chapters first, then break off to the splinter and sub chapters.

  • Okay, the Birth Chapters first, then the Codex Chapters?

  • yep, great great video, excelent music and a really good intro.

    Waiting for the sencond part!!!

  • You truly shall be worthy the name: awesomepaintjob!!

  • i still havent tried very thin paint as i usually prime black.. perhaps its time to start white when i do my blood angels army.

pls tell me you're doing blood angels soon :) as always love your work LB.

    Inspiring!

  • Thank you i loved it
