There is nothing left to feel sad about; we all go through life on its own terms, and there are no guarantees. Some have it all, some suffer their whole lives. Her art is the redemption she could not achieve as a living person. I imagine that to have savored that life and "ridden the tiger" would make it impossible to dismount the tiger, too, and life after "The Age of Callas" proved very difficult for her. But understand that she is always with us.
