  • great stuff Tony

  • OODA is an acronym for a concept I was introduced to during handgun training from an FBI instructor. Its origin is military strategic planning, but as it was introduced to me, it relates to steps u must take before responding to a threat. OBSERVE the threat through 1 of your 5 senses, ORIENT to the threat to be able to respond, DECIDE what action to take, ACT. SPEAR does a decent job at this with a pre-programmed decision & action phase, but it has holes as i mentioned, also, what if he kicks?

  • I like SPEAR, however, it still leaves you stuck on the centerline and a bigger or stronger or just more motivated attacker is gonna run you over. Meanwhile, a faster more motivated attacker will overwhelm this defense with multiple strikes. You must apply OODA loop principles to a defense if you are the smaller, weaker, slower or less violent defender.

  • @bae313

    OODA?

  • And it actually works! SPEAR is a great program!

  • Great Stuff. So simple, and yet so effective. Everything unarmed defence SHOULD be about.

  • Looks great Tony!!!
