If your child doesn't like veggies you can blend them and mix them with pasta sauce when you make pasta dishes.Kids almost never know the difference.Or even bake carrot shavings or any other veggie into bread, muffins,or cake.I did this with my son for a few months and now he loves his veggies.
woooww I am so craving quiches right now! I was browsing through some coupons the other day and I came across a coupon for quiches and I thought about it for a second and started to really want them. Now that you've mentioned them a few times in your videos, I am so going to BJ's and getting myself some quiches haha.. I am pregnant with my third child :p
@HkHOTgal Haha! Well we NEVER force feed our kids. We simply don't cook them seperate meals every time we eat, because they need to learn to eat what their parents cook instead of getting in the habit of requesting a separate dish every day. If he truely doesn't like the food, he gets something else for supper.
@Graciemay97 It's not like i force feed them if they don't like what I cook. I usually only cook things I KNOW Tripp likes. Which is almost everything. But if I make something he really doesn't like, I will make something else for him.
Don't be sorry. Thank you so much for these different idea's I don't have a problem with her eating Breakfast she loves cereal but I do with lunch and dinner. Do you do homemade guacamole ??
I have a picky/problem eater and do videos on it!! Creatures of habit I think are toddlers at time :) I love talking about food with kids even if you and especially when you r child eats well. Thanks Lora!!
I love to let the kids help me in the kitchen but if you're only babysitting or working with more than 2 or 3 kids maybe you can let them help set the table or you can make meal time a little fun. Use a plate with the child's cartoon character on it. Give them a small reasonable amount of each item.. tell them to eat what they can. Ask them if they can find their cartoons faces/face on their plate by eating the food away.. It's not really bribery because no prize!
1. Try letting the older kids help make new foods with you in the kitchen. If you involve them in making it they will be more likely to eat it later.
2. Let the little children see the food before and while you're cooking it. Let them smell it and talk to them about the shapes and colors of the food, NOT the taste.
3. EAT some of everything you make for your children in front of them. Set an example! Be the role model:)
LOL I love how the the boys were having their own little convo with the camera. It is 3 in one.I atched it twice for what you said and then the boys lol. I also think It is funny, I remember when you were pregnant with Tripp and wanted ceral all the time and said " i do have to feed my husband too" lol maybe you passed it on to him.
@claudia62782 Haha that's so funny that you remembered that lol! It's true though... I lived off of cereal and quiches with that lil fetus and now those are two of his fav foods lol! Awww, I also loved their little conversation. So cute!
The quality of the vid isn't bad honestly. I use my Mac for my vids & the quality is pretty decent as long as the lighting is good (like yours). But I have poor lighting where I film from. Anyway, I love Tripp's little temporary bowl cut, haha. Oh & we all love quiche too! My toddler who eats anything eats quiche & my 5 year old is my picky eater & she eats quiche:)
@mrsmommy81 Aww thanks :o) Yea, quiche is amaaaazing!! I love love love it!! That's great that even your picky eater will eat it :o) It's a healthy, filling dish!
You can purchase the turkey hotdogs for super cheap from jennie-o. We buy like an eighteen pack at walmart for a little over $3. We just put the rest in a baggy in the freezer!
I'm still pretty picky with food, and I'm nearly 21 years old. But I guess you could put some of the blame on my parents. They never really forced me and my older sister to eat certain foods that we didn't enjoy growing up.
@UofLCardFan08 No, that's good that they didn't force it! I would never force my kids to eat something they didn't like. I only cook things for dinner that I know Tripp would eat. Sometimes, he wants to be picky and says he wants cereal for dinner, but that's not allowed in this house. You either eat the healthy meal I cook for dinner, or you don't eat lol! If you REALLY actually didn't like that particular food, I wouldn't force feed it to him. He gets to chose what he has for bfast and lunch!
@JennMag23 HAHAHA love that movie! And his hair totally does look like that lol! Poor guy haha!! "We got no food... no jobs... our PETS' HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!"
WHAT?! You mean you don't grow your own organic veggies and fruits? LOL! Kidding. Seriously peeps, all food in moderation is A-OKAY! I too would love to be able to eat perfectly healthy for every single meal, but it isn't always possible.
@sweetandpetite92 Right?! People think that just because THEY spend three hours a day, cooking every single meal, means that I should drop everything and do the same? No thanks lol! I have WAY too much to do during the days to try and cook 3 course meals every time we eat lol
Those boys are getting cuter by the minute!!!Happy Easter Lora&family..2morrow's my bday!!!So it'll be a happy and festive weekend for me here in Italy!Ciao :))) :*
Lora I think you're doing a great job! When they're young you just have to squeeze healthy foods in when you can. Thats how it was in our house too! If you didnt like whats on the menu then, tough. I know Declan is still young but can you see a pattern from when Tripp was his age?
There is a cook book wrote by Jessica Seinfeld (jerry Seinfeld wife) to incorperate healthy foods into their diet. FYI for those with picky eaters
I eat like a Gilmore Girl...maybe because I'm a broke college student. haha
Idk why people think you should have to cook a meal every night with no processed foods? Geez Lora! Why aren't you hand raising every turkey you eat?! You should be harvesting your own vegetables instead of vlogging! Puhlease.
I LIKE Tripps haircut, side-swept bangs are all the rage right now. :o)
@abigams Hahaha!! I do cook most nights and mornings. Some ppl on here think that's just not good enough though. I'm a sucky mom because I don't cook EVERY meal lol!! Hahaha thanks, Tripp appreciates that ;o)
@5lejla5 Haha his hair is a little better since it's had a week or so to grow out. At first it was totally crooked and goofy and that sideburn was like BALD haha!! I love his funny faces too lol
Lora, Tripp and Declan are SO cute!! TrippE is so funny when he repeats every word you say, haha. He looks so serious and tries to explain what he´s saying, lol. He´s such a beautiful little boy! Declan is SUCH a happy baby, I love his laughing and how he makes faces:-)
I am sure that your children get the best food and just all things they need. They are perfectly developed and look just healthy. That is SO nice to see!! Love, Anna
Green beans cooked in chicken broth?! I'm gonna give that a try. NONE of my kids like green beans the way I cook them (in water). I'll let you know how that goes down. Sounds much yummier! :-)
@rhonda1379 Yes, let me know if it works!! They really taste like SO much better. I still WAY prefer mine cooked in chicken brother, rather than water lol! But it needs to be the fresh ones, i think. I've never tried to do it with the canned ones.
Steamed cauliflower in with mashed potatoes and they will never know (mash them together), also if you have a garlic press use it for carrots, and put that into the dishes while they are cooking is a great trick (great in speghetti) I have a ton of tricks but my mind has gone blank, I will post the good ones once I remember :)
I completely grew up like that too! Kids will never starve themselves. Mum always used to say "eat it or wear it"...I was about 12 or so and being a complete B-word and I wore it lol...i alway ate all my tea :p lol
My 15 month old LOVES fruits and veggies! He is sooo not a picky eater either he eats everything we eat. :) which is awesome. Chicken is big in our house too. I feel you on the "eat what I made" thing. I swear my son will eat anything with cinnamon!
So funny at this point (13:32)...Tripp looks at Declan and sees him do the mouth noise. So Tripp decides to do the same. Declan swings his head around like - 'what in the world did you just do'??? LOL!! They are a joy to watch!
LOL Tripp and Declan CRACK me up! Aries is the same way with veggies its so strange you can put a plate of veggies, fruit, pasta, and protein on his plate and he eats ALL of his veggies first most the time! Makes my job easy! :)
@holdendmb OMG I wish I could mail you some... i would go crazy without it!! But since we moved here, we have no Waffle House :o( I pretty much go crazy without that too. Nothing fancy AT ALL, just awesome waffles lol!
@Loraandlayton Ba-hahaha! The thought of opening up a box from the mail and it being chick-fil-a cracked me up! That would be SO funny! I love the waffle fries and the chick-fil-a sauce. Mmmm processed food... hehehe, You are SO going to get some today, aren't you- After all this talk of it??...JEALOUS! :-D
Camryn is a chicken eater too! And she will eat a big bowl of steamed broccoli, but she wont touch the carrots. I hide the carrots in a bite with potatoes or chicken hehe! I'm soooo thankful that she is not a picky eater, especially when I see what my friends go through with their kids, and it doesn't look fun! LOL Yay for good eater's!! Thanks for sharing what he eats, it gave me some idea's that I hadn't thought of.
lots of ppl in america never seem to have time to actual cook a meal but it doesnt really take that long to cook a meal i never eat process food but thats coz the culture is different im from portugal and we all cook so i was never into the processed foods...im not saying its bad tho please dont get me wrong hun your doing good i too have a baby and i know how hard it is to find the time ...just like you have time to vlog you will make time to cook up something too xx
@blondie147123 I NEVER said I don't cook lol! I have a two year old, 7 month old and I work from home. I'm not in the same situation as you, just like you're not in mine. And yes, I know I'm doing good :o) Thanks.
Thanks Lora! I got a ton of ideas for my lil boy. He tends to eat the same things regularly and I lose creativity. I am a huge soup person~ I hadn't once thought maybe he would like it too! :)
Tripp is soo darn cute! I have a tip for those moms looking for ways to get their children to eat more fruits and veggies, not nessesarily you as you are doing a great job!
I always have a big bowl of fresh fruit in the middle of my kitchen table, apples, bananas and oranges usually. Also in the fridge keep cut up veggies and fruit in easy to get into containers. If it is easy to get to they will eat it up!! Also you cant expect your children to eat something if you won't eat it.
Your lucky Tripp isn't a picky eater, I'm sure Declan will be the same. Love you motto to by the way: 'if you don't like what momma cooks then too bad!' lol =) that's the way I'm gonna roll when I have kids! :) lol Love It.
haha, when tripp crawled into your lap, i didn't recognize him. i thought "maybe she's babysitting??" he looks so grown up, though!! <3 and yeah, you're SO lucky that you don't have a picky eater.
Tripp doesn't seem like a picky eater; my son is just like his dada, he is picky and won't eat anything I cook I make for dinner (he's a chicken & fries boy!). I need to teach both of them how to not be picky eaters! lol
@eagoodwin1 Thanks! It's better now that it grew out for about a week and doesn't look QUITE as goofy! At first, it was REALLY obvious and crooked and hilarious lol
My advice is to know where your kids food comes from! I babysit for 2 kids and they actually think the food that hasn't gone through a tone of processing or anything tastes better. I try to cook heathy things for every meal :D But I do think that the chemicals in processed food is the culprit. If you only give your kids fresh food, they won't like the processed food anymore and they won't be so picky. It worked with mine at least lol.
@isaiddevilyoulied Tripp is a great and healthy eater :o) I'd LOVE to be able to cook a perfectly healthy meal for every single meal, every single day. But unfortunately, not many busy moms of two young children have that kind of time. And a little processed food isn't that bad. Layton and I had it occasionally growing up and we're fine lol!
@Loraandlayton Oh no! I wasn't meaning to be offensive or anything. I actually think that you're a really great mom :) I was just pointing out from my experience how to get children to stop being so picky. I've been with these kids almost every day for years and when I first started I would make something and they would go straight to the freezer and get their frozen pizzas cause they didn't like veggies. I took away the frozen food completely because they wouldn't eat anything else!
@Loraandlayton con't I made them eat what I cooked or they wouldn't have anything at all and they would eat it! Now when offered, they refuse to eat the frozen foods, but that is based on their preference, it has nothing to do with me. I also try to keep the recipes fun and simple and they help me! Your kids aren't old enough yet but once they are it will be fun for them :) I'm sorry for coming off wrong I really wasn't trying to judge...
@isaiddevilyoulied No, I know :o) Just explaining our situation! It's true that it's better to give your kids healthy foods so that they crave heathy foods!
My kids are really picky easters. They dont like meat at all. So i try to give them peanut butter everyday so they get there protein. My kids will only eat eggs with ketchup on it...LOL. But i always make them try what i make and if they really dont like it then i wont make them eat it. But if they dont eat dinner they dont get desert. LOL. Your so lucky Trip is an easy eater. ...and even better that we will eat vegtables. =)
@MissLea922 Yea, if Tripp really doesn't like something, he doesn't have to eat it either! But when I know he likes it and is just being a punk. he has to eat it lol! It's so funny how kids are!!
lol aww tripp's hair is so funny. I love it, he looks so cute! I'm totally with you on the chicken. I'm a huge chicken eater. Chick Fil A is my favorite! =)
Did you cut Tripps hair yourself? I always cut my son's hair myself, and we have definitely ended up with some funky looks, but little boys hair grows super fast so it's no big deal. Both your boys are adorable!
@MommyGracie Thank you!! Yea, Layton did it with the buzzer :o/ Next time I want a trim for him, I'm doing it myself! With scissors lol!! We've trimmed his hair 10 times, but this is the first awful cut lol!
haha I'm the same as Tripp, I love carrots and broccoli but I hate cauliflower! haha

@holdendmb OMG I wish I could mail you some... i would go crazy without it!! But since we moved here, we have no Waffle House :o( I pretty much go crazy without that too. Nothing fancy AT ALL, just awesome waffles lol!
Loraandlayton 10 months ago

Thanks for sharing what he eats, it gave me some idea's that I hadn't thought of.

blondie147123 10 months ago 2
@blondie147123 I NEVER said I don't cook lol! I have a two year old, 7 month old and I work from home. I'm not in the same situation as you, just like you're not in mine. And yes, I know I'm doing good :o) Thanks.
Loraandlayton 10 months ago
My mommy always gave me oatmeal with milk and brown sugar. :)
NerdyCanadian 10 months ago
Thanks Lora! I got a ton of ideas for my lil boy. He tends to eat the same things regularly and I lose creativity. I am a huge soup person~ I hadn't once thought maybe he would like it too! :)
MistressKittyLynn 10 months ago
@MistressKittyLynn I didn't either!! Tripp asked for a bite of mine once and fell in love lol!
Loraandlayton 10 months ago
Tripp is soo darn cute! I have a tip for those moms looking for ways to get their children to eat more fruits and veggies, not nessesarily you as you are doing a great job!
I always have a big bowl of fresh fruit in the middle of my kitchen table, apples, bananas and oranges usually. Also in the fridge keep cut up veggies and fruit in easy to get into containers. If it is easy to get to they will eat it up!! Also you cant expect your children to eat something if you won't eat it.
sgreeneify 10 months ago
@sgreeneify Exactly ;o) We do the same and that's probably why Tripp loves it! Great tips!
Loraandlayton 10 months ago
Yes. Very Sneaky! lol
Your lucky Tripp isn't a picky eater, I'm sure Declan will be the same. Love you motto to by the way: 'if you don't like what momma cooks then too bad!' lol =) that's the way I'm gonna roll when I have kids! :) lol Love It.
babybell86 10 months ago
My mom use to mash turnip or squash in with my potatoes! Never even knew it but I was getting veggies and didn't know it! :)

haha, when tripp crawled into your lap, i didn't recognize him. i thought "maybe she's babysitting??" he looks so grown up, though!! <3 and yeah, you're SO lucky that you don't have a picky eater.
thebabymuse 10 months ago
@thebabymuse Haha he looks a lot different with that hair! And he does get bigger by the second. It's kind of crazy!
Loraandlayton 10 months ago
Tripp doesn't seem like a picky eater; my son is just like his dada, he is picky and won't eat anything I cook I make for dinner (he's a chicken & fries boy!). I need to teach both of them how to not be picky eaters! lol
TheBrittbrat2341 10 months ago
I think his haircut is cute.

TheMysterygirl34 10 months ago
My advice is to know where your kids food comes from! I babysit for 2 kids and they actually think the food that hasn't gone through a tone of processing or anything tastes better. I try to cook heathy things for every meal :D But I do think that the chemicals in processed food is the culprit. If you only give your kids fresh food, they won't like the processed food anymore and they won't be so picky. It worked with mine at least lol.
isaiddevilyoulied 10 months ago 2
@isaiddevilyoulied Tripp is a great and healthy eater :o) I'd LOVE to be able to cook a perfectly healthy meal for every single meal, every single day. But unfortunately, not many busy moms of two young children have that kind of time. And a little processed food isn't that bad. Layton and I had it occasionally growing up and we're fine lol!
Loraandlayton 10 months ago 10
@Loraandlayton Oh no! I wasn't meaning to be offensive or anything. I actually think that you're a really great mom :) I was just pointing out from my experience how to get children to stop being so picky. I've been with these kids almost every day for years and when I first started I would make something and they would go straight to the freezer and get their frozen pizzas cause they didn't like veggies. I took away the frozen food completely because they wouldn't eat anything else!
isaiddevilyoulied 10 months ago
@Loraandlayton con't I made them eat what I cooked or they wouldn't have anything at all and they would eat it! Now when offered, they refuse to eat the frozen foods, but that is based on their preference, it has nothing to do with me. I also try to keep the recipes fun and simple and they help me! Your kids aren't old enough yet but once they are it will be fun for them :) I'm sorry for coming off wrong I really wasn't trying to judge...
isaiddevilyoulied 10 months ago
@isaiddevilyoulied No, I know :o) Just explaining our situation! It's true that it's better to give your kids healthy foods so that they crave heathy foods!

In the UK you can buy chicken hot dogs - most are pork at about 25% more calories and salt and all that bad stuff, so chicken is a good option xx

MissLea922 10 months ago
@MissLea922 Yea, if Tripp really doesn't like something, he doesn't have to eat it either! But when I know he likes it and is just being a punk. he has to eat it lol! It's so funny how kids are!!

Did you cut Tripps hair yourself? I always cut my son's hair myself, and we have definitely ended up with some funky looks, but little boys hair grows super fast so it's no big deal. Both your boys are adorable!
