  • makes me wonder how much steel a ap round will go through. it was just ball ammo.

  • thats pretty funny i did the same thing shooting steel today.had a square of steel that holds rr tracks in place.pistols dont even hardly make a mark on it.i thought i was missing the thing but they went through it like butter.didnt expect that from an 5.56.its a screamer for sure.it has its advantages. the rifle is an m4 type stag and i think its so handy.keeper!!!!

  • I loved this series so much I built an A2. The beauty is in the simplicity.

  • I bet all the targets you shot at you could hit just as easy with your g27

  • i work at wal-mart i do no what black friday is 4sure lol

  • Is there any difference between an AR15 and an M16, or are they the same thing.

  • @ScopedPewPew they are built the same, only the m-16 is a semi/3 burst select fire depending on the model(A4 is semi/3 burst, the rest I believe are semi/full auto select fire). the ar-15 is basically a semi automatic rifle.

  • I can't diside weather to get a AR or a Glock. What whould you take.

  • Comment removed

  • hey why do you call'em "black guns" ?

  • ar15a2=m16a2

  • Mmmm smell that?! smells good! haha

  • does this Guy use snipers? if so send me a link

  • @JesterSmileFire Define a "Sniper."

  • I love the regular sights...these days everyone thinks its cool to use optics...i have no problem with that but first learn to shoot with regular iron sights...

  • Nice rifle. It looks like you have taken good care of it.

  • You know you're old when you see COD and think "cash on delivery".

  • "we've done the black thing" you could hear the back pedeling in his brain lol..

  • Your Father might of called it a Matty Mattel, that was the nickname the troops in Vietnam called it when we first gave it to them. My father (Vietnam Veteran) still preferred his M1 Carbine, and my boss (Vietnam Veteran) preferred his M-14 over the M16A1.

  • im in love.. were you ever a grunt sir?

  • i dnt like altering the ar either. if im goin out farther than 300m ive got the ol trusty 308, then i can put it in your eye out to 1000m. I DID get somethin useful from Uncle SAM.

  • living the life Hickok!

  • Iron sights shooting. The origonal American Rifleman way of shooting. No COD nor high tech bullshit

  • @man11withaplan Adding a simple red dot to your rifle does not make it "COD Bullshit". At all.

  • @Speedogg138 I was making a reference to the COD fan boys that keeps asking about Optical sights, I have nothing against them. But even so, too many so called "shooters" and self called "Rifleman" could not hit a target with iron sights even if they tried.

  • Ahhh That was good for me how bout you?

Nothing can beat a good old AR-15 ;-)

  • wow good eye sir!

  • have you thought about a 308 scar?

  • poor zombies...

  • can you post a video stating the advantages of a M16A1?

  • @TheXanarox1 Well, it's lighter because it has a barrel profile that's not as heavy. Some people prefer the weigh the sights adjust on the M16A1. The M16A1 is fully automatic. The stock is shorter on the M16A1 which some people prefer.

  • i shot one like that recently, except it was nothing like that it was a 22 caliber.

  • People that put all that shit on thier ar-15s like vertical grips and flashlights, lasers, hugh red dot, thermal, infared, nightvision scopes.....i think of the movie beverlyhills cop 3...THE ANNIALATOR 2000 :) Just fucking KISS " Keep It simple stupid"

  • Nice tactical magazine pouches haha

  • Now thats how an AR15 should look!

  • i think you got that water jug hahahaaha

    thats a large mag

  • i think you got that water jug hahahaaha

  • be my grandpa?

  • I like how the smoke comes out the top.

  • How much was the AR-15?

  • This is basically a compact version of the Colt M16?

  • @solidfreak123 Actually its not it is the civilian version of the M-16 the "M" in "M-16" stands for military.

  • @3RRG it stand for "Model" as in US Rifle Model 16, hence M-16.

  • @solidfreak123 Nothing compact about it.

  • my dad was in Nam but he still calls the ar15/m16 a matel rifle as well lol

  • the gun wasnt on safe while yu were demonstrating i guess just a small oversight on your part could have been disastrous all the same

  • Amazing shooting and very nice rifle! Imo id leave the rifle the way it is if it was new id say add the sights but thats a clasic rifle the only optic id add is a 4x20 compact scope from centerfiresystems(dot)com that goes on the carry handle for $40 mainly for looks.

  • Why haven't you tried out for the show Top Shot yet?

  • How long is the barrel on that AR? I'm looking to get a Bushmaster MOE and the barrel length is 16in I think. If I get a 18in or a 20in barrel, will the accuracy of the bullet improve? In terms of longer range. Sorry I had to put the term as accuracy but it made sense to me in describing.

  • If u were there you would gone carzy.

    carzy about guns.

    wars.

blood.....dont go to war , i know i cant stop you guys but when you go you go and you will never get your mine back again.

  • you carzy old man all u guys like is guns guns guns....guns are shit!!!!............

joking...i love guns i got ar-15 myself and ak-47 also m16, i was a part of military, i was there for 5years and i know every things about guns and i see my friends got shot in the head many time, blood were every where and part of their body were every where. i went to wars i seen what has happened i seen people got shot every days and that is bad.

  • The original AR15 was designed to fire exsplosive .22 calibre rounds with ball powder ammunition, and the military didn't like it because it broke the tradition of infantry marksmanship that originally was introduced with the Springfield M1903. Then the Wiz kids in the department of defense wanted it, and forced the army to deploy the A1, but in true army fashion, they put stick powder in the cartridges, and stick burns dirtier, so that caused most of the jams and GI deaths in Vietnam.

  • @acepilot1997 Lol wut

  • It's hard to find people now a days who are fond of the iron sights! Old school is always the way to go. Putting on a scope or a sight is like putting Katchup on steak. It may enhance it, but it loses the elegance.

  • Nice. I love the M16 A2 style. I just can not get into the M4's I got my eye on a Stag Model 4. Nice cheap rifle for my first black gun. I noticed you have a lot of lube in your chamber. You just brush it on and leave it there?

  • Good one wolfblade. Ding, oh my hot pocket. Lol. Love this gun. Don't really have a good place to shoot it though. Being a former marine, I would like about 300 yards for some windage calls. I guess a hurricane would be as good as any. Thank you sir. As always, great video.

  • oh for a second i thought he had a revolver belt buckel

  • Is your Front Site Base an "F marked" or a standard FSB?

  • @mattglock23 , I'll try to remember to look at it the next time I get it out.

  • @hickok45 it should not have the f marked front sight. those are for flat tops.

  • I love shooting the M16A4 and bushmaster ACR great assault riffles I must say =)

  • do you prefer that version or the m4 configuration?

  • I always liked the look of an M-16/AR-15 with the 20 round magazine more.

  • she sure is sexy, i prefer no bells n whistles myself, i love the stock version a2 and pretty much in any rifle, nice channel :)

  • Such a great rifle. I love my A2, but I would have to agree with your dad, I think the classic hunting rifle style is more comfortable. I guess the AR-15 is easier to handle when you're runnin around in the bush, but I'm just not that big a fan of the pistol grip on a rifle. Great Video!

  • Thick and heavy barrel on this version, ain't it?

  • @Marine17inlove ,, No, it's not the H-Bar version; it's a standard barrel.

  • @hickok45 Why ain't you get a heavy barrel receiver on it? I shot one from the range and I can see how accurate they were man.

  • @hickok45 hey, i want to shoot military matches, but cali is hating and i can only get one with a pinned magazine, or bullet button....not good for the rapid fire of the matches....so i guess my question is where can i dump my life savings to purchase a preban ar?

    thanks

  • @hickok45 Why do you see more Carbine length ARs vs. full M16 length?

  • @hickok45 Well, I think I'll call this thing an A1 with A2 hand guard.

  • @hickok45 .223 Rem?

  • nice shooting...

  • I was wondering if I have a full auto rifle and I move to a state were there not allowed can I still keep it..?

  • Hickok, love your videos, i got one almost the same age as that one. i do have a question, ive been watching vids of AR's in 9mm. what is the advantage and disadvantage in using a 9mm in a AR platform? Just seeking your Guru Enlighenment!

  • @captainkaos131313 , Well, one would be giving up a lot of power and still have a pretty big gun, but I suppose they would be fun to shoot. I'd be more inclined toward one in 10mm if I were going to consider one in a pistol caliber. I think that would be fun to shoot. Heck, any caliber would be fun to shoot. :-) I've always thought one in 7.62X39 would be cool, but you just don't see them much. I've been told the reason is that nobody makes reliable magazines for them. Don't know, though.

  • @hickok45 Thanks for your input. i'm looking for another tactical/defense carbine but there are so many options these days. i've been considering the olympic arms 9mm ar because they can use my glock clips so it would be a complete system but i think i'd be giving up a lot of punching power. Besides, i'd rather have a RRA. I've looked at the 7.63x39 format but i can only find 10 round magazines. Thanks again!

  • @hickok45~ Do u realise your land is gonna be contaminated with Lead (Pb) ?!

  • @marek0086, Yeah, I don't even drive through the South; there are Civil War battlefields everywhere. Just think of all the horrible lead in that ground. I figure if I stay 100 miles from any of those places, the lead won't get me! :-)

  • @hickok45~ u being sarcastic?

  • @hickok45 I'm sure you know but, AR's in 6.8 SPC are amazing. The round reaches out like a 5.56 and hits like a 7.62, you also reload so it would be somewhat practical for you. As for an AR chambered in a pistol caliber, IDK, thats why they have the MP5. I must say I have shot a Thompson before and it was very fun and can see why it was a favorite weapon in WWII.

  • I got to shoot AR-15 once that a pawn shop had, they are real fun to shoot, i hope i can shoot as good as you some day.

  • Dairyqueen either you're a comic genius or someone who should be prohibited from procreating either way you're funny as hell.btw Hickok do you own any piston ars? Just curious. Me personally, would just get an m14 for a piston but the piston ar bug has bitten me.

  • @D41ryQueen No one cares about that dumb ass game

  • @D41ryQueen dude this is hickok he doesnt care at all about dumbass COD

  • @D41ryQueen nobody cares about COD, pple here like real firearms

  • what round does this ar-15 shoot

  • i love this weapon, that weapon is awesome, I know it well thanks to the Corps. We would shoot on the range up to 500 meters with iron sights! very accurate! at 300 yads we would do rapid fire and wear out the targets........ AR is outstanding

  • Is there any difference between this and a m4?

  • My favorite rifle posted on my birthday! thanks hickok! haha

  • If the AR/5.56 round can knock down those 1" steel targets that easily, there's no question the round is adequate for fighting. Some think the .223/5.56 is too small compared to other calibers in battle rifles. Thanks for the videos Hickock.

  • A plain old AR with none of the silly tactical accessories or "bells and whistles" is, in my opinion, second to none when it comes to sexy firearms.

  • mr. hickhock sir, do you happen to own an AR-10?

  • Do you get sponsors?

  • Very nice shooting. Whats the distance to target? What state are you in. Looks like Oklahoma to me.

  • Very nice shooting. Whats the distance to target?

  • Ginger is so precious. You have a great dog.

  • Hickok, what's the difference between this and an m16?

  • @avatarpaintballtop Ones got a burst auto feature (ma16 a2 and a4) and the one in the video has only semi.

  • Thanks so much for all you do. Keep up the great work.

  • When would be a time when you would have to use the forward assist? Probably a stupid question, but I'v never fired one so just wondering. Great shooting by the way.

  • I think those glasses are like rifle scopes hey what do you teach and where

  • I think those glasses are like rifle scopes

  • Iron sight for the win.

  • Great Shootin!

  • Find it funny becouse iam from austria and i get of course a glock, so its funny when i see your overroal.. nice greetings from the land der berge und viel spaß beim schießen ;) LG

  • I'm an old school, iron sight guy myself. But then again, I remember B&W TV, the Marlboro man on television and radio and no warning labels scrolled on alcohol, tobacco and firearms.

  • Hi I'm curious what type rounds were you using? And you mentioned Eo Tech. Is that the way to go for my S&W AR?

  • have you killed someone before?

  • Nice shooting with the iron sights.

I would put some old style hand guards on it, just for the coolness factor.

Is that a standard front hinge pin for a Colt?

  • you're ready for the zombies

  • I think they look their best "naked" as you called them. How they come from the factory seems to be OK for the kind of shooting i would do with it. But ive never actually shot one so my oppinion isnt all that valid

  • @GMdrivingMOPARguy i agree the only thing that i would change is the hand grip and the sight

  • I must say :D

    ur very good.

Think ive been subscribing you 1,5 year now :D

  • I like the new Ginger-cam.

  • I wish i had your lifestyle. Your my hero.

  • The sun was in his eyes he says, lol.

  • nice shooting skills you got there. your my idol..... love watching your videos

  • @superfullofbull right, because i want to use a .223 for home defense so that i can kill the bad guy and my neighbor and her cat all with one shot. very "logical" quit trolling

  • I love how that gun looks,I dont like the fancy stuff so much either.

  • Mr hickok45, speaking of neat guns - >Colt CM901 in 7.62mm or 5.56mm; it's my bet that The United States Army picks the Colt (Individual Carbine Competition) as the successor to the M4. Kindest regards

  • I'd venture to say Hickock that you shoot a rifle just as well as any handgun you own. Also, I would leave that old battle axe just the way it is, no need to clog up the old school look of that one with a bunch of rails, grips, lasers, optics, etc. Just my opinion. Great shooting brother.

  • I'd luv to see what your Eyes and then brain interprets, just before you squeeze the trigger.

  • @MrSchpankme , Well, since you asked - just prior to pulling the trigger, whether handgun or rifle, I access my memory bank and call up a slinky image of Cindy Crawford. She inspires me to relax properly as I release the trigger. When I miss, though, I don't blame it on Cindy. :-)

  • @hickok45 No, missing occurs when ones brain wrongfully conjures an image of Rosie O'Donnell o.0

  • Couple things I noticed: It seems you're a better shot with the AR than the M1A. Also, you're not wearing the orange ear-protection. The AR's louder, huh?

  • @MOLRobocop probably cause the weather

  • I have the Class 2 Fire Arm model of that gun. AKA class 2 means able to have full auto. Don't worry, I have a certified Class 3 Fire Arms License.

  • "those targets are always trying to get away from me, rolling into the woods"

    There is no escape....

  • LOL Mattel toy gun ..alot of the older guys never got over the fact that the original stock and fore grip were in fact made by the Mattel toy company..I had the pleasure of training on and using the A-1 M-16

  • The AR was made by Colt only back then right?

  • that looks a lot further than 100 yards....

  • Great rifle. Good video. I had a A2, I built back before, the "Crime Bill" went into affect. Unfortunately, it was stolen a couple of years ago. I think its time to build another one....

  • It is good to see you enjoy yourself with one of your favorites.

  • STAY old school! dont "pimp it out" i myself like my rifles like i like my steak... if it needs A1 sauce then it was made wrong.

  • Nice, pretty much one shot one kill! Now that's good shooting.

  • If sighted in 1" high at 5o yrds will be point of aim, point of impact out to 300 yrds with standard 55 gr 223 rounds oooor was it 2" high ahhhh hell I cant hit see anything out that far anyway.

  • Have you ever fired a Steyr AUG?, if so what are your thoughts on it?

  • Does that A2 have a full profile barrel or does it thin out under the handgaurd?

  • @StraightSixDiesel , This one thins out under the handguard.

  • I like the AR15A2 with a rifle length handguard and a 16" barrel. Great video and great gun!

  • Mattel actually made stocks for some of the early M-16s.

  • I enjoy so much your vids, Old school yeah Sir !!!

the wrangler mag pouch are the best on the market :)

  • Where do you get your tactical mag pouches!? :D

  • If your father was a Garand guy, what did he think of the M14/M1A rifles?

  • @nbenicewicz , He never fired one. He was gone before I bought mine, unfortunately.

  • @hickok45 And I suppose he left the Army after the Second World War and before the Army adopted the M14.

  • @superfullofbull Wow, you spent an impressive amount of time just to be a smart ass.

  • That's a cool Rifle.

  • @brianszoo , I guess I'll take that as a compliment. :-) You think there are any females who'd listen to me? :-)

  • @hickok45 you gotta do the video shirtless and flex a lot though

  • coffee maker, microwave...hilarious

  • @superfullofbull

Meaningless to us in New York, unfortunately. :(

  • How long is the barrel on that rifle?

  • @superfullofbull - Armalite Corp ok gottit - will remember that thanks.

  • Wow that gun is older than me if you bought it early 80's O.O

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself he also has guns older than your grandfather

  • Kitten?

  • i want to buy an AR but i cant find one that is plain all of them have all the fancy things that i dont really want, do you know where i could find one

  • @xbulldogs57x Bushmaster has some basic models for purchase. Just look hard enough, they're out there. Or, you can convert one back to the original type hand guards?

  • @ThaddeusMcSpalding well i went to the gun shop (gander mountain) and they had like 10 AR's but the all were custimized and cost quite abit

  • @xbulldogs57x I understand, that's the way they are at my gun store, but there is hope. I am originally an AK guy so it's all kind of new to me, but I did find this out. The lower receiver is the only part required to be transferred through an FFL. So, if they have them, buy a lower receiver from the gun store (from a reputable brand, shouldn't be TOO expensive), and then you can order whatever kind of upper you'd like through the mail, that has at least a 16" barrel of course.

  • @ThaddeusMcSpalding well lol im new to this to, i havnt taken a gun apart yet so im trying to learn yet

  • @xbulldogs57x Don't worry, you'll learn quick. I did. It's because it's something fun, so it'll stick. My first field strip was of an AK so I started out easy. And, thanks to the miracle of youtube, you can find a lot of disassembly/assembly videos.

  • @ThaddeusMcSpalding well ive taken apart a marlin single shot 22( my first gun) and help take apart a 12 gauge pump?

  • @xbulldogs57x You're ready then. All you need to do to attach an upper to a lower is push out two pins on the lower, drop in the upper, push the pins back, and you're ready. It's really easy, trust me. And if you're not comfortable with doing anything that's critical like bolt disassembly, barrel change or gas block change etc., a gunsmith should be able to do it or show you how. For me,it was just a matter of looking up a few good youtube videos and I knew the platform like the back of my hand

  • @ThaddeusMcSpalding What exactly is a lower and whats an upper?
