The only thing about this sweet, sad little story that makes you laugh is when you suddenly remember that Diana is Garfield. Yep, that's Garfield's soul inside that gentle, music-loving pussycat. X)
i absolutely love this, i watched it as a child over and over and this was my fav one for sure. i still tear up too, something about this just pulls at my heart strings with nostalgia that chills me to the bone....i miss being a kid
it's a tear jerker also if you appreciate some great compendium of genius also. remembers how astonished i was when this was broadcasted.... this special is utmost!
It's actually quite a heartwarming tale: a young woman and her coming of age with a close feline companion. But it is also heartbreaking; because of when their paths forever part....anyone who grew up with a close childhood pet will understand...
@megalodon4g63 I watched this Garfield cartoon when I was a kid. I got tears on my eyes. This is one of my favorite Garfield's life. His life # 6 is serious & quite sad unlike the wacky & funny Garfield that I've known for so many years, the life # 5 which is a bit scary (that is, Lab cat), the only Garfield life that he became female, and the only cartoon image that sketched like a painting. The book version is quite different from this TV version. I hope they will release this on DVD version.
I'm reading the comments and I feel like crying.

I have remembered this movie since I was a little kid, and this story in particular always makes me tear up.
It's so quiet and well done.
With Beautiful art and music.
When I watch it, I know it is coming, but I seem to hope it it isn't.
That last concert is so well done and at least Diana dies peacefully and painlessly.
I have loved Garfield for the longest time, but this is always the one thing that pops in my head when I think of him, even to this day.

Oh, Man... That was touching... Granted nothing like the usual Garfield shorts, but it was.... WOW. just wow. I wonder how I missed this as a kid.

I was crying when I first saw this. Awww, it's really sad when a pet you come close to dies like that. It...it makes people really sad.

This killed me when I was little. Now I miss my old cat, Sophie. Smartest tabby in the world. :')

You can hear some hints of Satie in the music. Very beautiful.

@relayer250 I think most of it is from debussy's dr. gradus ad parnassum - a lovely piece when played more lento like in this.

This is depressing. It reminds me too much of my old cat, Bandit.
