  • @blaklioness01 its a weave material .. there are different styles yrs ago i used to go to austria and switzerland to buy the "gele" which are bought made up so you just tie it .. you can get vids on how to tie them the material is stiff so it can hold in whatever style you choose to wear . its like a brocade but lighter..

  • Beautiful head wraps, you should do an instructional video for Americans.

  • very beautiful!! they remind me of the fancy church hats you may see here in the southern u.s. this must be where this beautiful tradition come from!! Thank you for posting!!!! :)

  • it started in Africa not Southern US.

  • Head gear is attributed to all black african women but each country has it's peculiar style of tying. I personally prefer to tie it just as in 2:33. This style is common among other African countries too. I wish to know what gele is called in other languages. I only know in Ghana it's DUKU

  • amazing video! who sings the song? :>

  • The song was done by the Nigerian artiste called lagbaja. Search for 'skentele' on youtube and you can see his original video.

  • My mom like using the one's ith damask.

  • the more elaborate, the better. I wish I could tie it that good.

  • I thank almighty god that I can ty my geles,

such as these beautiful styles in many different ways.

  • it's not only nigerians that wear this, although i think they usually wear it the best. it's common and popular around west africa

  • @africangoddess707 Yeah, but it is originally a Nigerian invention. Everyone in West Africa just copied us because we're fly like that! Lol

  • I wish Yoruba land will have own country, Nigeria diminishes the possiblities of the yoruba.
