  • cool tank but one question: why would you put metal halides on a fowlr?

  • Nice

  • I love your tank, looks amazing! I'm hoping to start my own saltwater tank, but it's a bit pricey lol so I'll watch your video until then.

  • @LadyJumbie Thank You! Good luck with yours!

  • @LadyJumbie i just got my tank set up done, i have some fish but not too many. i am very picky when it comes to stocking tanks and i never get close to the maximum amount of fish in the tank because i think it looks bad and unnatural but in this case it looks wonder full

  • Is that a Moorish idol or a wimple fish at around 0:28

  • Wheres nemo?

  • @50JumpChump I'm white and all I have to say is don't care about skin color never have never will thanks for serving for my freedom man I'm serious

  • you have dory

  • you dont really need halieds if you have a fowler setup, but whatever floats your boat

  • I am in the process of setting up my 100 gallon tank! Its going in my restaurant and i am slowly filling it up with the saltwater mix. I am 3/4 full plus i also need to fill the sump tank. Im adding the bacteria and i havent even cycled it because the sump isnt able to do the job yet. I bought 50 lbs of live rock full of little crabs, snails and some other things and they are in a bucket....hope they are still alive. The fish store guy tested my water today and said i need to cycle it

  • this is a salt water tank., its hard to maintain a salt water tank., the fish easily died and needs big money for the maintenance, I converted my 150gallon saltwater tank into a fresh water tank., I have these fish before and i miss theme so much,.

  • nice tank check out my 150 gallon tank

  • i like your tank, i watch your video over and over again, simply nice, why dont you add a huge angel?

  • why metal halides if theres no coral?

  • how do u keep ur sand clean?

  • how do u keep ur and clean?

  • Doesn't really look like a 150 gal. Id say its a 90 gallon. Or maybe a 75. But ill go with a 90 gallon.

  • @DgosFinnest its at least a 125 gallon, its a 6 foot tank the 75 and 90 gallons are 4 foot tank in length.

  • @jgtheman84 You know what. You are Correct.

  • @DgosFinnest actually no, IT IS a 150 gallong im sure off it because the 125 gallong is significantly shorter in height than the 150. this is a 150 for certain.

  • @jgtheman84 It's 72 inches long - 28 inches high - 18 inches deep

  • @DgosFinnest It's 72 inches long - 28 inches high - 18 inches deep

  • @tkreefer That's a 150. I have one myself.

  • @tkreefer so thats not "standard" size right?? so does that cost more? cuz standards is like 60x24x25 ish

  • @DgosFinnest it 150 i have one to

  • @DgosFinnest

It's very difficult to tell the size of an aquarium when you are not in person.

  • @DgosFinnest depends m8 where you from as UK and US gal are measured different

  • Yo broskie, nice tank. Have u thought of adding an angel fish in ur tank?

  • Comment removed

  • @vanhalenman60 fish only with live rock noob

  • @vanhalenman60 FOWLR means Fish only with live rock. It basically means you have live rock inside your tank but don't have any corals

  • @vanhalenman60

fowlr is a term i cant stand. this is because rocks are not alive, they are rocks. what is alive are all the organisms that come on and in the rocks, comprising of many different kinds of plants (algae) and animals. so a fowlr tank is really not fish only. Someone should trace the history of this retarded acronym

  • @hammertimevice

FO. is just that fish only...FOWLR isnt stating FISH only it fish only with live rock..then you get to a true REEF tank that has corals...sooooo Id say its pretty accurate, its just a progression. I love to just sit and watch the LR with all its little hitch hikers much fun!! You got a great tank man and good idea with the lights since you can add corals at a later date!!

  • @50JumpChump

hey nigger, i think u missed my point. my point is that rocks are not alive, they are dead. whats alive are the shit on the rocks. go back to africa

  • @hammertimevice

hahahahah you are classic!!! Good times

  • @hammertimevice

One more thing see I thought rocks were alive...damn thanks for clearing that up for "ALL" reefers. I guess we should call it DEAD rock with little creepy crawly things DRWLCCT. Thats gonna be my next tank 150 gallon DRWLCCT tank. As for the "Nigger" comment I served with the 82nd Airborne Div with plenty of white trash people just like you and helped fight for the very right you have to say those classy words. So stay classy my friend.....

  • @50JumpChump

    you mad bro?

  • @hammertimevice You're an idiot.

  • what are the dimensions of your tank?

  • @Matman1110 It's 72 inches long - 28 inches high - 18 inches deep

  • @tkreefer awesome tank! I love the bannerfish and chromis together!

  • so you have never done a 25 % change? and you complain about your nitrate levels?

  • You need more surface aggitation. There should be more shimmer with MH lights. If not you will get a film on the top of your water, making oxygen exchange harder.

  • do u have to have metal halides in a fowlr tank?

  • hey tkreefer,

Just curious how much the MH costs to run per month? I have a 55 gallon marine tank and may want to try a few corals soon. Thanks!

  • Yes fake corals look very nice if you get good ones.

The only thing is you have to clean them every now and again due to algae.

  • do you use tap water or RO water? I have a 33 gallon FOWLR tank with lots of live rock and fake corals and I jusr use tap water that has been aged for 48 hours, and every thing is fine!

  • @ViridiosExotics RO, tape has elements in it that will kill marine life, they actually sell RO WATER @ wall mart in their bottle water sec. just read the label on the bottle to see how it was filtered

  • @ViridiosExotics do fake corals look good??? thanks

  • hey fellow salty, hoping you can help me out. I've got a 180 I'm preping for salt but everywhere i look i havn't been able to find an answer for this - "what do you figure it costs you a month to keep it running"? I'm sure from month to month you might have breakdowns or maybe have to do a additive. but I'm talking just your run of the mill month. I assume you have your own RO/DI unit?

  • Hey PREDATOR, I actually don't spend much money at all on my system besides money for food. The tank has been up for about a year, and I haven't done a water change yet thanks to macro algae. Every 3-4 months I will buy some phosban for the phosphate reactor and a new UV bulb yearly. I am going to do a huge water change at the beginning of the year though! The biggest part of the tanks money goes to the electric bill for the metal halide lighting.

  • Im Curious as to why you have such powerful metal halide lighting on a FOWLR Tank? Is it because you plan on converting it to a reef tank in the future?

  • I wanted to put corals in my tank, but never got around to it. My nitrates are currently at 40, so I would like to get them down as well.

  • A little heads up, w/o water changes, your nitrates will stay too high (ideally <10 ). Even with the macro algae, you need small water changes, especially in a FOWLR.

  • have you heard about denitrator. its like calcium reator but it can make your nitrate almost zero.

  • What kind of macro algae do you use and how much of it do you have to use for your 150 gallon? I have a 300 gallon and I'd like to begin to use macro algae as a way to keep nitrates in check.

  • I am thinking $30-40 bucks a month on food, and I'm taking a guess on about $50 a month for the electric bill.

  • @tkreefer Are you saying your electric bill is 50 a month, or the lights ADD 50 to your bill?

  • @charliegrs I am guessing $50 a month for the MH lights.

  • Nice!

  • Nice tank! If you get more heniochus they will school together, as they are schooling fish. I have heard you can keep them singly, though. I have a 125 FOWLR and love seeing what others with similar tanks are doing. Nice job! Very clean, too.

  • Thanks!!

  • How much harder is it to maintain a saltwater aquarium from a freshwater? I have a freshwater 60 gallon American/South American cichlid aquarium and one brackish aquarium for my fugu puffer. I do want a salt water but have heard many things about how difficult it is to manage them.

  • Saltwater is more diificult but the constant changing of sciences and equipment have made the saltwater fish keeping hobby "easier" than say 20 years ago

  • Thanks for your reply. I'll look into it and do all my research and setup prior to getting the fish.

  • Yes, research is the key to a successful saltwater aquarium!

  • what happen to the niger trigger

  • Still have him in a 55 gallon! I didn't put him in the 150 because he always digs holes everywhere and was always kicking up alot of sand. He is a cool fish though!

  • If you check the latest video I uploaded, I added the Niger Trigger into the 150.

  • super nice set up

  • Thanks!!

  • MH isn't really necessary if you don't have any corals...just a waste on the electricity bill IMO. but nice tank though

  • Your right!! Most days I just turn on the actinics. I do like the shimmer look though!

  • boooo. needs coral

  • i need chips

  • nice tank fish lookbut you need more live rock 1-2 pounds per gallon and some coral to make use for that strong lighting that you have wastin all that electricity

  • nice job.....

  • Thanks

  • hey if u dont want any more mirco algea ill take some for free or some money

  • is that that sailfin tang that got its fins damaged by the damsels i really like the sailfin i have one there such a friendly fish

  • Yes, It is that sailfin!

  • So Clown Fish can live happily without an Anemone?

And what color is the backround of that tank? Black? Dark Blue?

    But anyways nice tank bro.

  • Thanks! The background was painted black.

  • That's a sweet tank. Gives the hippo tang some room to cruise around. Did the sea star survive the move?

  • Thanks! The chocolate chip star did not make it. He was about 3 years old. SUCKS!!

  • its finding nemo :)

  • what brand MH light is that?

  • Not sure! The lighting unit came with the setup, and I can't find a name on it anywhere. Something generic I guess. It seems to work very well though!

  • I found out it is a Catalina Ultra Reef. It's a older model.

  • the clown is so cute..so tiny:D

  • Thanks!

  • I really like your whole setup. about how much did it cost you for the setup if you don't mind me asking.

  • Thanks!! I bought the tank used off someone I know. I got the tank & stand for $500. With equipment and everything, I have about $1000 into it.

  • Oh, The lighting unit came with the tank as well, and that's not counting the fish in the total price. I got a pretty good deal on it!!

  • Good bro i think you should be good with corals you're good with fishes keeping them for years very good

  • Thanks!! I may put some corals in once the tank matures more. I'm not rushing things with this tank.

  • You have any hermits or turbo snails in there?, Whats next on your purchase list? A sump?

  • I have no inverts in the tank right now. I already have a 35 gallon sump and a 20 gallon refugium underneath. Not sure what my next purchase will be. Maybe a few more small fish. I may go full reef down the road.
