yea its real i think i read somewhere that they did get a restraining order but they wouldn't obey it and Tom was proved innocent because he was still considered an adolescent cause he was still 19 at the time i still think it was wrong for him to hit a women but they planned this thats why they were video taping it and did nothing when he hit her

Even if they planned this, it's not an excuse for him to hit her, it's just wrong. And I don't mean because she's a girl, it could have been a guy, it's the same thing - I just mean it's wrong for him to hit another person.
If she didn't respect the restraining order they could've gone further, in a legal way. They should've gone to the police again they would've known what to do.
I don't think violence is the answer in any case except for self-defence. And it wasn't the case here.
