going to see him May 24th in Jacksonville, FL!!!! I've been a JB fan all my life. Never seen him live. Can't wait. Best singer/songwriter in the world.
I went on a hunt for this song because it was mentioned in a book I am reading. Too Soon Old Too Late Smart, at twenty I couldn't be more thankful for this book, and the amazing impact that it has had on my life, as did this music in my heart. So true and beautiful oh yes and i suggest at any age that you read this book. I am a young soul in search for more understanding about this beautiful mysterious life of love and adventure this perfect has fit perfectly for another perspective.
Browne should be the official poet of the world! his music and lyrics are so thoughtful, you can tell he means every word he says and how carefully planed out the words are, since otherwise he's a pretty quiet guy.
What a personal joy it must be to create and perform music people want to hear for years and years. I see why these guys want to stay in front of a crowd.
@debbieg5 ......They really are. Can't beat them. When I'm in a JB mood...I listen all day long. He puts his soul into his music that you just can't ignore. And he's still just so dang good looking!!! :)
Thanks for your "stealth mode" recording of this song - always one of my many favorites of JB's - even tho hard to pick a favorite after over 30 years. He's gonna be in this awesome small theatre in Detroit in September - many years since seen him live - will not miss this one - thanks again!
He sounds so delicious live, unlike most singers these days. What is going to happen when all the real talent is gone? I will want to die. jk Thanks for posting this song Debbie:)
@Bunzypoo It's scary, isn't it? His music and lyrics are timeless. I wouldn't think much of the crap on radio today would survive over 30 years like JB's.
@debbieg5 Boy is that the truth - let's try and name five bands that will be doing anything like JB in 30 years. Springsteen is another one - love him too for over 30 years as well and many others - their words and music are timeless - but sad to say - most music today is crap. Thanks for your posts debbieg5!
You are most welcome. It was hard to do because i was in "stealth" mode....just held the camera to the side and hoped I was getting him in the frame. It was a wonderful night!
I had to be in stealth mode too at the Eagles in March 2009. The security for the band actually came over to me and and threatend taking away my camera. They were standing around shoulder to shoulder commando style. Thanks for taking the risk, it's really lovely.
this is some of the best homemade video of him that I've seen on you tube... do you have anymore that you shot?
I've got tix to see him November 30 in Austin and I'm just about to freak out about it!
My mother escorted me to my first of many Jackson Browne shows in Austin way back in 1972 because I was only 13 at the time. She loved his music but held a scarf to her face for fear of getting high from second hand pot smoke... those were the days :)
Thanks for your comments. that was the only one I recorded of him that night. the rest were still pics. LOL...too funny about the scarf. Your mom had good taste.
Just wondering..the venue I'm going to states no recording devices allowed...but I want to record ONE song for a friend at the very least. Her favorite song happens to be Sky Blue and Black which I have this feeling he might play haha
Not sure if anyone answered you question about recording when the rules are no recording.
Security for the venue and the artist are usually looking for the lighted display of the camera so that's how they no who to bust. I don't know how she got this good quality sound and picture, but I suspect it was a very good camera that she use it's movie version. If you can sneak you electronics in somewhere, just be careful of the lighted display and you should be ok, many people will be doing the same
Cameras were allowed in this venue. however, at intermission I was taking pics of all the guitars and the "commando" standing in front of the stage said I couldn't take pics anymore. my camera is a Canon Powershot SX10 IS. it's a "point & shoot" but looks like an SLR because of the long lens (20X). I did record with the LCD closed and used the eyepiece but held the camera to the side while I slunk down in the seat. Glad everyone enjoyed this.
This is wonderful. I plan on seeing him in Houston next month. I've got some questions. About how long was the concert and were you able to meet him either before or after the show?
The show was about 3 hours and he took a break part of the way through. He came and left the stage so quickly without any fanfare. did not get to meet him; sure wish I could. enjoy your show!
I cried when he played this song in Hanford, last weekend. Then he made me cry again with "These Days" .... Really sweet playing.

Isn't it great when it's JB without the band? His band and David Lindley are great - but just Jackson - wow!

He is in perfect tone and key, not to mention accompanying himself. Also, he's over 60, I think he sounds amazing and looks very graceful.
