I love Deep Purple, but this gig is just a piece of shit. Except of Paice, everyone should play better. This improvisation is out of control. Lord and Blackmore played better in Royal Albert Hall.
Lord and Blackmore weren´t able to play even final melody.
I have to say that the performance was awesome but there's only one thing... Why didn't Blackmore play his signature Mandrake Root Arpeggio at the beginning and the end then of his solos?:S It's usually what gets me everytime!:/
Having seen Purple many times, by this point in the show Blackmore would have played about 100,000 notes in various songs and the whole point of Mandrake Root was to make as much controlled out-of-control noise as possible! It was not about trying to re-play a song off of the album. This was the last song in the set, which is why they destroyed the drums and amps at the end. CLASSIC!
@zzzzzzzz594 that noise is the stupidity reverberating around your empty skull. If this moron gives me back shit, bombard his in box with nice, kind words. Purple Nation.
@fremmed1 Because people don't take acid anymore. Those girls are tripping balls right now. But, I agree with you 100%. I'm sick of the safe and predictable world we live in too.
This pretty much sounds like a combination of Jimi Hendrix and The Nice, with some Who-style destruction thrown in at the end. A good combination of influences. Blackmore and Lord are true showmen...neither quite approaches Hendrix or Emerson but they do their best and come close, and certainly increase the flash factor to exciting levels.
hihi ritchis moves are great... i think he was some kind of sex symbol back then, I read some stories about some of the concerts where Girls actually stripped for him
Wow.......what a find!! Never seen this footage before! Not to take anything away from Richie but, you think maybe he'd been studying Mr. Hendrix a bit??
This is Deep Purple at their Best.... Absolutely fantastic... great perfomance from everybody of the band... I almost cried when I saw this... Um grande abraço pra galera do Brasil que gosta de Purple....

People looked cooler before.... Everything becomes so pretty and comfortable today. Noone dares to take any risks anymore. To be a little "ugly".
