OMG, the many nights spent in the 688 Club! I wish I had been in this video, and I too saw them at the club. Saw Romeo Void at the Agora Ballroom, those were the days of New Music. The Brains, REM, Oh OK, Indigo Girls, Atlanta and Athens were on fire.
Youtube answers a 28-year old mystery - was I in this video? I was at the show. Going over frame-by-frame, I found myself around 3:27, for an entire second. Ah, fame.

This song was huge for us back in high school. We liked these dudes as much as the psychedelic furs. If these cats released a cd, we would definitely buy one. Good sh!t.
Keith Christopher is one of the most amazing artists I have ever seen! He is wearing the yellow jacket in this video. His Bass playing can only be believed after seeing him.
I was standing on the roof of the 688 club with a bullhorn yelling for people to dance during this filming. We had to get a permit to shut down the street. We played 688 that night and all who attended were in the video! good fun!
Speaking of that Mercury album, was the release party at that Agora? I think I was there. I mean, I know I was there for something. It's been thirty years. Give me a break.
damn...I don't remmber that. .35 a gallon? I bet people were bitchin about the price then also.I do remember this song/video though. Saw it on the old TV 69 Video show which predatd MTV.I've seriouslt been humming this song for almost 30 years since then and unable to find it Anywhere until recently on Youtube. just cool.

Anyone at the Peter Tosh show at the Agora? You remember the one. A little known band that called themselves 'U2' opened for him. The room was asmog!

Criminally underrated - another band killed by "Mercury Poisoning" if I remember correctly. That first album should have been huge.
MrPink120 3 years ago
You got that right...Mercury poisoning, indeed. Except THE BRAINS were even better than Graham Parker, my friend.
(PInk? !
Why do I have to be pink?
If it's no big deal to be pink, do you want to trade?)

I doubt you people will believe me, but my dad is the drummer for the Brains, Charles Wolff.

OOOH. I believe you, alright.

I believe you. I happen to know Charles. I worked with The Brains. I was their band coordinator and road manager

Notice the gas prices in Metro Atlanta back in '82 at the 2:00 mark: 35 cents for a gallon of regular!!!

hell yes, Janet Darr's Rock Around The World video show every night at 10 pm on channel 69 in Atlanta, I have several vhs tapes of these shows
eddiecarp 2 years ago
Hey,
No , that's 35 cents for sodas.Look at the sign again. Gas was more like $1.20 in '82.
The last time gas was 35cents was about 1974.
Unfortunately, I'm just old enough to remember.
