  • HOTTTT

  • Wonderful singer who's voice has always touched my heart more than any singer. Dennis Brown every time....much loved and never forgotten.

  • @1jaq

I love D Brown. He is definitely a legend. I can't count the amount music that man put out in his short time. And he went back and forth between Roots and Lovers. If anyone has a D Brown track called "Shirley," please post it. But Marley was one of the greatest artists ever. I was a Marley fan from age 6. I think his kids are mediocre though.

  • Chooooone!!!

  • For real! Nice to see (read) you about.

  • one of my all time favourite tunes.really brings back some great memories of 20 years ago.this tune was and will allways be special.

  • Great tune, from a fantastic artist..........

  • Great Tune !

  • I refuse to get into who was the best vocalist debate but back in the day roots artist would only get commercial exposure for their love songs rather than roots and truth & rights material but I just love REGGAE music roots or lovers cause reggae has a song to suit every mood na true? So forget who's best just enjoy de music man, peace

  • Massive tune. Rest in peace big guy.....

  • that why i feel reggae is dead now!....man like d brown...gregory isaacs....sugar minott...freddie mcgregor....made classicial reggae...with the best musicians in reggaes history....look at the crap they make now!....even the old uk lovers rock is miles better...people so artificial now!

  • But that doesn't mean reggae is dead :P First of all, all that music lives forever, second of all, there are nuff good roots artists in the scene today!!!!

  • If you were a teen in the late 70's/80's, then D.Brown, Sugar Minott, Gregory Isaacs, meant more to us than Bob. I don't remember any sound system in London regularly playing Bob's music. Sometimes in Blues dance people would play it, but the youth wanted steppers/rockers or lovers, and the beat in a lot of BMW's music didn't have the real rub-a-dub feeling anymore. Don't get me wrong, it is still good music. It just was not that popular come party time. D.Brown was for all and any occasion

  • Very very true. Thanks for the comment.

  • It is the truth of what I lived. The Wailers' earlier music was sound system music, but even back then D.Brwon was singing hits. Also, anyone that really knows reggae music, knows that"Wolves and Leapards" is every bit as revolutionary as anything BMW put out.

  • Which is right! Everything you say I agree with! People however tend to tiptoe round the whole BM artist, like you cyan seh him was not the greatest, which in my opinion he wasn't... what about greats like Dennis, Larry Marshall, all the artists out of lee scratch perry studios. I'll say it, Bob marley jus got lucky with PR and the fact that he had the type of face acceptable to babylon... I say Peter Tosh and the wailers, a dat mi seh!! (watch the red marks now...lol!) Big up!

  • @Shemra for real ! dem kinda ah tune you wanna hear inna dance

this is REAL danchall music to me!

  • dennis is the greatest vocalist jamaica has ever produced!

  • Un chanteur Jamaicain pas assez reconnu, comme tant d'autres malheuresement!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sorry but dennis was a better singer than bob. even bob called him his favorite singer. dennis voice was superior to bob which wasnt near as sweet as dennis. too bad drugs have silenced many a voice. so sad..had he not been on crack he jus maybe still here..i am and i am one yr older..however never did crack and was not into cocaine. or herion or any hard drugs or alcohol..reckon thats why i am still here healthy and strong. weed is ok. crack is not.

  • Well I've never been a fan of Bob, so you're preaching to the converted!

And yes, Dennis should still have been with us now creating great music like this.

  • makes my heart cry because you cant help but ask Jah why he would bless some one with such talent..bless the world with one of his angels..then take them back..well i guess so that his voice can be recorded to live on long after his short stay on earth. that was Jah's plan. to send dennis down to record..then scoop him back up to he heavens from whence he came..Jah always knows what he is doing thanks Jah for leaving Dennis' voice on Tape and image on YouTube!

  • wow really?

I agree DB was a better "singer"

Even Bob said he was his favourite

But what didnt you like about Bob?

  • From a very very young age I never 'felt' Bob.

Don't get me wrong, there are some of his tunes that I like, but I think there are many others that are more talented but were not as visually acceptable to reach the areas that he had access to.

It became Bob Marley and The Wailers, when I don't think he was the most talented, but could sell records.

  • "visually acceptable"

lol aka they were not 1/2 white :)

  • i agree Bob was good and some amazing tunes but was other stuff like dennis brown, bim sherman, mighty diamonds, barry brown and nicky mannasseh radio show that turned me onto proper roots/dub.

  • Bob was Ok in his own right and definately was a legend intoducing reggae to the masses. Few people I know ever heard of Dennis. which is sad. But if I say Bob marley. most everyone I know have heard the name. But when it came to Writing and gut vocals..dennis Rose over Bob. and sounded better than some African americans on their own songs. that he covered.

  • dennis brown king of MUSIC

  • big tune!

  • Is this not a matter of opinion though?

  • gwana de rasta!!! every knee shall bow and every tongue confess coz the truth mus prevail dat DEB is the true king!!!
