El paso peruano es elegante y util para recorrer grandes distancias. Se crian caballos de paso peruano en Estados Unidos y Europa, pero nada tienen que ver con el paso colombiano. En poblacion el paso fino colombiano es mayor, porque colombia es un pais lleno de vida criolla rural, en el Peru en cambio se limita a los valles de la costa centro y norte. La poblacion de paso peruano es mucho mas exclusiva y la raza nada tiene que ver con la de paso fino.

@lyndachabane Yes, they can canter and gallop. They have shorter strides then the average horse when they do, and its rare that a rider would ask for a canter/gallop, but they definitely can.
Whats the difference between a peruvian paso and a paso fino. I dont know much about the breed, I was intoroduced to the paso fino through a disney movie Crystobalito or something like that not sure how it was spelled. Its an OLD "wonderful world of disney" movie.
@EquineDreams Paso fino means "fine step", and they take many tiny steps in their gait. Their traditional shows run them across wooden ramps so you can hear the machine-gun sound of their feet. Peruvian pasos, on the other hand, take very long steps; their gait is meant to be ground-covering (and Peruvians also have the rolling shoulder movement called termino, which helps them stay smooth.)
I have one of each. My Paso Fino can not keep up with my Peruvian. My Peruvian is rather slightly built in her legs and I fret about lameness but she has never put a foot wrong. My Paso Fino has a lot of go go go but is prone to minor lameness issues from ringbone. Both are good horses and easy to ride. The Paso Fino has a lovely canter that she can do for a long time. The Peruvian canter is like a TWH, like a rocking chair but she can not hold this for long.

I like the Peruvian Paso for being a beautiful and gaited horse that does not have the head "bob" of some gaited breeds. Just a personal preference.
